big news about sushi

This is incredible dining news, but I hate sushi. However, this could give us incredible insight into the dining habits of Apple Engineers. Maybe a side article on the Apple Cafeteria would be in order.

Yeah, Apple people like to "think different" by ordering sushi. ;)

And that sushi looks pretty darn cheap. There's so much better out there....

I've never owned a compact camera. I only own bulky SLR cameras and they get bigger and bigger each iteration (I own Nikon). I'd love to have a quality compact to slip in my pocket for any old moment.

The iPhone 4 is great, but if the new one has even better optics, I can't wait. I don't own an iPhone now, but can't wait at all for when I can have one. Come February, I'll get one, finally.

If it can suffice for a lot of situations, I'll be as happy as everything. Then, I'll sell my SLR and get a rangefinder, as I can't stand the weight.

I have a bulky DSLR and fancied something smaller, so I bought a Lumix LX5. I love it. It's not a real rangefinder (they're stupidly expensive), but it is pretty good and it shoots in RAW. You should look at the top-end compacts to supplement your SLR. Camera phone sensors are so small that they're always going to be noisy and flat compared to a real camera, and you'll be disappointed with the results most of the time (though it depends what you're after, I guess).

Is this what Apple employees eat for lunch?

Jealous.
Unlike at Google, the cafeteria at Apple isn't free. The diners still need to pay although some of the cost is partially subsidized by the company.

It looks okay for cafeteria-grade sushi which means it looks five times better than anything you'd get out of the refrigerator case at the grocery store, like the Whole Foods on Stevens Creek Blvd.

It looks freshly prepared.

The avocado edges aren't browning or bruised so they were probably freshly cut. Also the shiso leaves under the halibut are fresh and not wilted. The nori around the uni (sea urchin) also looks fairly crisp, not soggy, so it hasn't been sitting around that long.

Ooops, he can maybe be fired for this.

His profile in flickr points to a non-working website

I think a better title could have been, "this may be how clear iPhone 5 photos may be if they used the new 8-megapixel Sony camera.

Man this has got to be a POTD..

You know more about Sushi than I would ever care to know..

[ O/T apology]

I'm excited about the iPhone 5 as much as the next guy but this is really dumb.

No, it's not. This, along with confirmation it came from an Apple engineer is the best evidence we have for the iphone 5 having an 8 megapixel camera. This all but confirms it.

I'm pretty sure the next MR article will be about pictures of people who have seen pictures of the iPhone 5 pictures.

While I would like for this to be true...I read an article (possibly on MacRumors) about how you can attach a high res lens to an iPhone 4 and shoot photos. So that might be what we are seeing.

You can attach all the lenses you want, but you're not going to get an image that is higher resolution than the iPhone 4's 5MP sensor is capable of.

I'm lost.

Why does google maps point it to the Philippines ?

Because in addition to the coordinate numbers you also need to specify whether they're for West or East latitude, and North or South longitude. Essentially you can go +47 degrees, say, or -47 degrees, which is completely the opposite direction. Without the cardinal directions, a given set of coordinates could have any of 4 possible locations (4 combinations of N/S, E/W).

Edit: beaten to it by seconds!
