haha..

..under the screen translates to the "rear" ... if you can't do it one, then there is always an easier option.

Now it resembles an Android :) Welcome Apple users. Be interesting how the market will adjust if this is true.

Give me the Touch ID any-day.. i don't really care where it is, just as long its there..

The vertical camera, just looks too freaky for me..

This looks like something Tim Cook would approve. The iPhone 5 was the last iPhone design Steve was personally involved in. Even today it is the gold standard in smartphone design.

Interesting how after few years have passed we look at this as a great design, easily forgetting how much it was criticized and hated for these bold bars on the top and bottom. What I have really learned is that most of stuff gets excepted and dear I say even loved after some time.

If you were going to place the Touch ID on the back, why not integrate it into the Apple Logo?

I really hope this rendering is incorrect, but I thought the same thing when the CAD renderings of iPhone 6 showed up around this time of year and those were spot on.

Coque-iPhone6-Foxconn.jpg

Hopefully the CAD design this year is fake.

In your picture, you can see the image of the actual iPhone 6 prototype on the machine in the second photo on the right and the actual windows software showing the CAD design on the left.

Well I for one love it!

I really need to wean myself off upgrade obsession. This is the phone that would cure me. There's no way I'd trade in my iPhone 7+ JB for that grotesque monster.

Exactly, you couldn't buy it. That's a failed launch from a manufacturing perspective.

Ah so EXACTLY like the utterly failed launch of the Apple AirPods then. Oh and I would also say the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus and 5 as they were all incredibly short stocked too.

Stop attempting to make something up.....

iPhone 6 was released in 2014, while Steve died the day after the 4s introduction in October 2011, so it's highly unlikely Steve was involved in anything beyond initial plans for iPhone 5, which came out in 2012.

Corporations tend to have 5 year plans at least, so Steve Jobs was heavily involved in many products after his death.

What's your problem with TouchID on the back? I personally find it even better on the back of the phone. I think that the android device manufactures have found a superior solution than Apple. So why shouldn't Apple copy it?

I am an Apple fanboy as much as the next guy, I just don't idolize people or stuff. Trivial things like a phone design don't have a meaningful impact in my daily life.
You could say that of course. But you still are reading this thread and
So case manufactures have to redesign their wares and potentially pay another "Made for iPhone" licensing fee if they are cases with additional functionality, of course.
What are you tslking about?
They just need to make a hole on the back of the case where the fingerprint sensor is placed.
Only if apple applied it in the apple logo and case manufacturers would use a precise apple logo cutout on the back instead of a round hole, they would be in trouble because of the rights apple has to this specific logo.
Solution, place a round hole.

What makes this 'gold standard' ? I don't believe Tim Cook has anything to do with the approval process I reckon the Design team has the final say.
Of course when the iPhone 5 first leaked there were all kinds of posts here from people hating on the design, calling it something Steve Jobs would never sign off on, it's just a stretched iPhone 4S, Apple is out of ideas and no longer innovative etc. It's now called the gold standard because people think it was the last phone Steve Jobs was involved with and so it's a way to rip Tim Cook and the current Apple leadership.

Awful, ugly, hate the touch ID on the back. The lack of organic design here really shows how much influence Jobs had on design at Apple. Now what, Apple is taking design cues from the hacks at Samsung?

Because its a crap idea, you have to be holding the phone to use it. I often have my phone on a surface and just touch the home button to open it. Also makes cases an issue.

Just leave it on the front, even if it means having to have a bottom bezel.

Oh s**t!
If they put Touch ID on the back then I'll just hang onto my iPhone 7 and hope that next years iPhone has Touch ID built into the front again.

Is it possible this is an iPhone 7s render and not the "iPhone 8"?

No.
Remember? The OLED (full-screen) is only on one of the 3 phones.

Well... I guess- there's a slight chance of 3 edge to edge screen phones; 2 w/ LCD. But nobody has posited that as likely.

EPIC FAIL!!!! If the iphone 8 has a rear touch id, that is not what i call advancement and they can keep it. I will stick with my 7+. I would much rather have a bezel than this ugly beast.
[doublepost=1492172300][/doublepost]If they release a phone with rear touch ID, Apple can go ahead and reduce that 95 million OLED screen order from Samsung.
