There seems to be quite some demand for them. Any sense whether shipping times will drop?

That's new. Usually Apple only charges upon shipping.[/QUOTE]

Yea, that's what I thought. I purchased an hour after 11am EST so an hour late, and got the earliest shipping estimate, May 13 - May 20,

I went in to an apple store today and they told me they won't have any stock until mid June. So sounds like no release day purchases in store.

When was there ever an official release date for these? I only saw “may” as when they would be available.

What I'm always missing in reviews and articles about these kind of headsets is if they are comfortable wearing for people with glasses.

Big over-ear and on-ear headphones often tend to get a bit painful as they push your ears/glasses/head together. in-ears are the best solution then but often less suitable for sports and such.

It's a bit expensive to just buy all kinds of headphones just to test. And in-ears are never on display in shops to try on (which makes sense ofcourse, for hygienic reasons).

Well, these headsets aren't out yet...

To be fair they said these kind of headphones which would include the Powerbeats 1, 2, 3 and anything else with similar wrap around the ear style.

I have a very bad feeling about getting it next Friday...

1. Apple NEVER officially announced the release date to be May 10th. It was reported by 9to5mac. Apple only promised it to be "May".

2. Unlike when iPhone releases where some people get release day delivery, some others initially get a later date but were ultimately moved up to release day delivery, nobody got "release day" delivery for powerbeats pro. This indicates Apple has no faith in producing and delivering a single unit on or before May 14th.

3. People are reporting Apple Store staff saying there will not be any unit in store next Friday.

I think I would be hugely surprised if I can get my order delivered by next Friday.

Really wish all colors were at launch but do need a decent pair of headphones for the gym....black it is but that blue is looking real nice.

We are all speculating the launch date to be delayed. We won’t know until Friday. I ordered a product from Apple last week and gave me a delivery date of May 8-10. I got my product May 1. This could be how their system is setup. My product was shipped Next Day Air. This may be the same case or not. We won’t know for certain until our cards gets charged we all know they are preparing shipping at that point. If the May 10 date is true we should be getting charged no later then Tuesday.

Exactly, Mars_TheHuman, exactly!

I have both AirPods and BeatsX (wireless canal buds with a cord that goes around the back of the neck), and I much prefer BeatsX since they stay tight in my ears and block out external noise while AirPods tend to slip out of my ears after 10 or 15 minutes and allow in lots of ambient noise.

Based on my preference for BeatsX, I pre-ordered Powerbeats Pro to test them in contrast with BeatsX. The price of Powerbeats Pro is intimidating but I'm counting on Apple's generous 14 day return policy (I have never had a problem returning any purchase to Apple for a full refund within two weeks) if the Powerbeats Pro over-the-ear-hooks are uncomfortable when worn with my glasses.

In any case, Mars_TheHuman, I'll post my experience with Powerbeats Pro when worn with my glasses to help you make your buying decision.

I hope that we here in Germany can even so much as order them this Friday.

I wonder if the stocks for the Powerbeats Pros are shared worldwide (as in, even if I order them immediately once Apple opens up orders here in Germany for example, I'm still not going to get them before June 20th, which seems to be the earliest any currently done orders in the US will get them), or if each country already has their own inventory pool of them allocated that won't be affected by orders from other countries (as in, the earlier orders here in Germany will still start to ship in May and orders done in one country will only push back the shipping dates in that respective country). Usually, the estimated shipping dates from Apple can greatly vary between countries, so I'm hoping for the second, but I rather expect the former.

Either way, I'm probably going to order them as soon as I can and hope for the best.

I hope you will get yours soon aswell!

I completely forgot about the preorder opening on May 3 and didn't place mine until Saturday morning. By then, delivery timeframes have slipped to June 6 - June 20. I have other Bluetooth headphones, so I don't mind waiting. Still, that timeframe lends credence to the fact that there's a lot of interest in the Powerbeats Pro.

I got an email from Apple this morning that said "Your shipment is on its way..." with a delivery date of May 8!!

Then I remembered that in addition to the Powerbeats, I ordered an Apple Watch for my Mom for Mothers Day. Nevermind.

May well still be true but the shape of the earhook, how it attaches to the speaker part etc. is extensively redesigned in both shape and size (much smaller) so it may be better now for you.

Thanks for the update. I will have to check it out in person. But if you look at my user name, "much smaller", isn't likely to work for me. :-(

By going back to the Borg look of the BT headsets of yore? ;)

I have Airpods and will continue to use them. The Beats will complement them when I need noise isolation or for exercising.

Ha, yep. Some folks just want to be different or think toothpicks aren't the look for them. My original AirPods probably won't make it through this year (got them back closer to the original launch and used them nearly daily since then, so they've lasted, but doubt they have six months left in them).

Would love for Apple to make a few different shapes for these things. Fortune 200 level company (just the headphones) would make one think they could get a few more designs out the door. Of course I suppose they are waiting until they reach a point where they are no longer selling every single headphone they can ship.

I just got a text from Apple saying my delivery may be later than expected ;(

Right now if you order them they show early to mid June. In reality Apple seldom is later than the early part of the estimate so figure 3-4 weeks wait. That will likely grow shorter starting in a month until long before Holiday season they finally likely have plenty of stock for same day purchases.

I think there is a combination of factors at play here...

1. With a product like this (accessory, from a company, Beats, that sells based on brand / image etc.) launching outside the holiday season is actually in the best benefit for Apple to have a slow launch with some delays that creates an urgency and hype around the product.

2. A slow build allows Apple to gauge the demand for the product vs. their AirPods and other wireless options so they can nail down just how many they need to build per week heading into the holiday season. Better to be short at first and build to what you need then make to many overall, or of the wrong color, and have excess stock that won't sell.

3. Perhaps there is a genuine shortage of the tech in this product (H1 chip etc.) since many parts are shared with the selling like hotcakes AirPod 2's but I also suspect there is room to ramp up production pretty quickly.
