Folks! Calm down. For those of you who are new to this stuff, but jumped in anyway, and ended up crashing your ipod, you obviously did not read toc2rta.com's warning. Not a smart move.
But, I will take a little time to post some solutions to some common problems.
If you ran the tiff file but did not know what you were doing (ahem, a certain user here) that was probably not a good move. Here's some things to try to get your ipod syncing with tunes again:
-Press and hold the home & power buttons until the screen blanks. It should reset.
-If that does not work, then you've gotta finish what you started... Lookup the original jailbreak for windows instructions at ipodtouchfans.com. Follow them CAREFULLY, step-by-step.
If the jailbreak program hangs at the patching stage, you most likely attempted to do the jailbreak before running this program, right? That means that the file the program is requesting and "patching" is probably NOT what it was originally. Since this is the first (beta) release of the program, it is probably only programmed to edit the ORIGINAL version of the file. If the file differs in ANY way, it will most likely fail to see that and lockup.
Solution: Reset your ipod. Restore the firmware in itunes. Run the program again.
If you are not sure what SSH is, Again, you probably should not have tried to jailbreak in the first place. Anyway, get a program called putty. Read the original jailbreak instructions at ipodtouchfans.com. to learn how to use it.
Folks- This program does EXACTLY what the original tutorial told you to do step by step. So it comes down to this- Did you attempt to jailbreak before running this program? Restore the firmware. Did you exit the program previously without letting it finish? Restore the firmware. Are you having other issues? Restore the firmware. You have to go back to step 1 and start fresh.
Hope this helps
