to login to the ipod and then drag & drop the apps to Applications folder and the GMM.framework folder to System\Library\Frameworks and MobileMailSettings.bundle to \System\Library\PreferenceBundles

Then I had to go back into Putty and type /bin/chmod -Rf +x /Applications/ because the Apps would just crash on the ipod. Now all is right with the world...until the next update

looks like i have all the files/directories you talked about, but what are these bundles for and why do i need them. thanks!
 
whenever i copy mail and maps into the application folder and restart, it shows on the springboard, but when i open them, they freeze and after 20 seconds they go back to the menu. does anyone have the same problem? did anyone get the apps to work?
 
I've tried and tried but I still cant figure out where to get the Community Sources package cause' its not in my file where my "touchfree.exe" and stuff is. where do i get it and install it so i can download the file off the conceited site???????

Can anyone clarify what this community sources package is and how to install it? If it's the apps and frameworks off the Iphone, I've done this correctly, but I don't seem to find any concrete info anywhere on what it is. This is why so many people are having issues with getting the site in Safari to run

It mentions it's in installer.app so how do we install this?

Edit: For all having this problem - go to Applications, Installer.app and select TrustedSources.plist

Copy it to the Library/Safari folder, hold down home key 5 secs to exit safari, then navigate to site. Should fix problem.

thats exactly what im trying to figure out! i have no idea where it is in the folder.

you can't get the community sources download unless you can navigate in safari to http://conceitedsoftware.com/iphone/beta
you can't just skip a step (getting the installer on your ipod touch) and move on a new step. Like kevin sez, relax, restore, and start over if you're stuck. And print out the directions and highlight them, whatever. I am sure if you follow it exactly it will work! If I can do it so can you! Possibly Planetbeing could comment on why you can't open the conceited software link in Safari?

They are for the mail app to function

Yeah, but the thing is that I followed every step by step up to where it says to go to the conceited site. How am I supposed to get the Community Service package off that site if it cant load it?

Sheesh....How can I put this....you need to visit http://conceitedsoftware.com/iphone/beta on your ipod to get Apptap
You CAN NOT get Community Sources from this website. You get Apptap which then opens and THEN you can download Community Sources from WITHIN Apptap
If you come back and say I have restored 3 times and started over from square one and followed it to a T and still can not get the installer to load from the conceited software link, then I will say to you I am sorry I have no idea what the problem could be. Just try it again and be careful, ok? You are almost there. I know, it is a little confusing between Apptap and installer.app but just try it again and be scientific about it if you expect it to work or people to assist you in getting it to work.

Okay, I'm calm and relaxed. I typed in that exact url and I get the message "Safari can't download this file". Even though this message came up, did I still get the installer?
 
clarification

On step 5, the term reboot is used three times. Can someone clarify how to do this? I.E. Press top button once and release, press and hold top button, or press and hold both top and home buttons.

I don't want to screw this step up.

reboot means you turn the iPod off and then turn it back on.
hold the top button, slide to turn off, hold the top button, wait for it to boot up

PROCEED WITH CONFIDENCE!
 
everything went as instructed, no hiccups, no problems, now i have the original iphone apps plus installer...i can't believe there are so much stuff in installer...we need a list of ones that works for the touch
 
I just restored and downloaded the zip file with touchfree.exe and stuff. Is there anything I should do before I begin once again?


EDIT: I just looked in my installer.app folder again and I dont have the trustedsources.plist file again. why am i not getting it when i download the zip file?
 
So I'm wondering if I should shoot a 1080p video of the whole process and whether or not that would have legal ramifications or would even be worth my time considering a GUI will probably be released soon.
 
problem

When I first started running the program that opens the cmd prompt. before it said reading the image patch is said that it could not generate the dropbear dss key or w/e it is because it said "reason: exists". What do I do? I've restored my ipod but it still does it

Agua, you misunderstand. I believe they were referring to trustedsources.plist file located on the ipod touch itself, under the applications folder and you have to get a successful jailbreak to view the contents of the ipod.
