Predicted iOS5 untethered jailbreak release date?(Now for A5 devices iPhone4s iPad2)

So what does 5.1 adress besides supposed battery fixes and the ability to delete photos from camera roll?
I figured with an update like that instead of 5.0.2 it would be a few more usefull features added.
 
Gift from Santa on The Day of Christmas for all iOS 5 users.

I think he will release untethered jailbreak for iOS 5 on the day of christmas for all users who waiting for it. It will be as similar as a gift from santa for iPhone users.
 
it's looking more and more like us 4S (and iPad 2) owners are going to be waiting well into next year before we can jailbreak.

More like a gift from god. My iPhone is dying to be hacked. The KF got hacked soon after I got it, and the iPhone is still waiting!!!
 
there is 0 evidence that the 25th is for the 4s...more than likely its going to take longer than 10 days

This is a *supposed* jailbreak, not confirmed to even exist at this point. Don't get me wrong, I would love nothing more than to jailbreak on Christmas, but I'm not keeping my hopes up until it's released.

The jailbreak demoed by pod2g has not been confirmed, and is not expected to support A5 devices.

If you've been following his twitter feed, you'll see that he's been working on this for the past 2 months, if not longer, if that is to believed. So he's had this available and ready to test for a while. Like I said, we'll see on 12/25.

I have to agree, I'll believe it when I see it, but for someone to boast about this for a while, that alone is worth some attention, especially when he committed a hard date to its release. Better to sit, wait, and let time prove him right or wrong.

pod2g didn't have an A5 device until today according to his blog, so it won't support A5 devices at all.

It's not taking just 10 days, hackman smith has had it working 99% for awhile now and was just working on the last bit... there is a pic earlier in this thread of the iPhone 4s jailbroken and running Cydia from his Twitter.

Of course, the whole thing could be a sham and he could be messing with us, but he is adamant that he is genuine and that the JB is real.

He IS allowing people to beta test right now though!! So maybe that's a good sign!

He said he would show video proof more than 2 weeks ago. Just 10 days left and where is that video proof?????????? So difficult is to get your iPhone to record a video of this???

He wanted to make a BIG joke on everyone and now it seems it won't be thanks to pod2g, which does have the untethered ready.

Just 10 days left and he says now that he wants to send betas over.. Wasn't it 99% ready??????

Does he really need to offer up a video to prove that he's right? Or if he's claimed that it will be out on Christmas day, there is nothing to be lost except your lack of patience in waiting the extra 10 days for time to prove him right. If you honestly can't wait for that, then I don't know what more to say...

BTW, pod2g doesn't have a single thing available for any A5 device, so for now, Hackman Smith is the only viable source, legit or otherwise.

Doubt that, the holes used to jailbreak 5.0 were closed in 5.0.1 so unless they found a new hole, which is possible, the first jailbreak untethered should be 5.0...well maybe at least as far as the 4s is concerened

The 4S is unlikely to be jailbroken with this exploit. Pod2g just now got a 4S and said he will be working on JB'ing it this weekend.

He has also confirmed that his current exploit works on 5.0 and 5.0.1, thus no reason why they couldn't wait until 5.1 was released before releasing the jailbreak. At worst, they will tell people not to update, if the exploit is still there on 5.1 then people can update and JB, if it doesn't work then everyone who listened and stayed on 5.0(.1) will get a JB.

It would make no sense to release a jailbreak for 5.0.0 at this point (that said, I'm still on 5.0.0 because I'm desperate). 5.1 is around the corner. Their better off concentrating on a release for 5.1

Well at least with the 4s I think, Musclenerd said one of the security holes was fixed in 5.0.1 and it was advised not to update at all

That is true, but that also was weeks and weeks ago.

I'll still take it if that's the only jailbreak that exists, but it would be futile as some people have upgraded by mistake and soon enough new 4S sales will outnumber those that bought at launch and that 4S jailbreak will be useless to most.

You definetly try to get the most current firmware, but if 5.0 is all you can get at the moment, then you take it...there is no telling and I'm starting to get antsy...I miss my jailbreak tweaks

Ah yes, Hackman Smith...

He is the one who offered to upload a video weeks ago. Still nothing. He doesn't own a video camera, and couldn't borrow his brothers phone, and obviously he doesn't know anyone else with a cameraphone...
He opened a competition to choose beta testers. But, he's stuck in snow in Scotland and can't send out the tool to the beta testers.

What a joke!

EDIT: Oh yes, he's also JB'en 5.1b, and also has a BootROM exploit too.

I recently went from an untethered 4.3.3 J/B on my i4, to a semi tethered 5.0.1.

Best move for a long time, very happy with the J/B and with iOS5. :)

I'm not upgrading to anything just in case they pull a dick move and release on 5.0, but at this point, 5.0 is ancient history, and they would be dumb to released on anything but the latest release. If 5.0 is literally the only thing they can JB, then fine, I'll be happy, but I really doubt that they can't find any other exploits for 5.0.1 or 5.1.

This is why I think they'll release a few days after 5.1 goes public.
