When do you think an untethered iOS5 jailbreak will be released

I'm not upgrading to anything just in case they pull a dick move and release on 5.0, but at this point, 5.0 is ancient history, and they would be dumb to released on anything but the latest release. If 5.0 is literally the only thing they can JB, then fine, I'll be happy, but I really doubt that they can't find any other exploits for 5.0.1 or 5.1.

This is why I think they'll release a few days after 5.1 goes public.

Agreed

iPhone3GS introduced in 2009 and still offered on 2 year contract is ancient history. 5.0 is not.

iOS5 is still new, I'm on 5.0 and the people who want an untethered jailbreak are also staying on 5.0. There are many people who doesn't update their firmware, I know people who are still on 4.3.1 or 4.3.3. 5.0 by far has the most users on it, there is no point in waiting for 5.1 and then releasing it when everyone else has 5.0 and they can just release it for them.

Between people who upgraded, and people who bought the phone already upgraded, a lot of people are on 5.0.1. They should release on that, not 5.0. If they are going to do 5.0, they really should just not bother and redirect their effort towards 5.0.1.

Most people that I know with a 4S upgraded to 5.0.1 because of the ****** battery life. I doubt the 4S jailbreak will be for 5.0.

Nobody should be expected to stay with a 1%-per-minute loss of battery life OS just for a jailbreak.

I don't have a 1% per minute loss with 5.0. I had a weird drain last night, but I've been using the phone all day after charging this morning, and I still have 35%.

The odds don't agree with you here..

If a program is released, then updated, and a bug is found in the newer version, there is a much better (read: 80 - 90%) chance that the same bug that was in the updated version of a program also exists in the previous version, as the bug hadn't been fixed before the update.

Following that and relating it to iOS, if an exploit exists in 5.0.1, there is a high probability that the same bug exists in 5.0, as the exploit wasn't found until the newer version.

After reading promising news from pod2g, i am starting to think that the untethered ios5 jailbreak would work for all A4 chip devices and 4S.

Talk about delighting everybody, that would be a pleasant surprise to many of the people waiting.

But didn't that guy hackmansmith said a few days ago that he would send the betas shortly?????? mmmmmmm... and he was like 3 days missing because he was in the airport???? mmmmmm... and we still don't know anything more than just a date?????? mmmmmmm... and the link is gonna be on filesonic???? mmmmmm... maybe he makes us download a porno :D:D:D:D:D

As I said, wait for 12/25, and let time prove Hackman right or wrong.

Calling him fake now, then find out that he and his jailbreak are legit will make the naysayers look very stupid. So reserve judgment and let time prove things right or wrong.

Looks like the christmas prediction is looking good

I'm not getting a warm fuzzy about their ability to JB 5 at all. If they keep waiting until the next point release, it'll never happen.
