I'm having that issue with my 6 right now too (as I wait for my X, ugh). But you when type "I" it shows up as that for you but I figured out it'll show up as "I" for the receiver. It sure is annoying, but you're fine.

I don’t think so. I’m seeing the weird symbols when the OP types, and on Facebook I see a lot of it.

Updated to 11.1 to see if it would help. Nope.

Oh then idk. I tested it with my sister's Samsung S8, and she said she saw "I." Maybe you only see it on older devices that's not the X on 11.1?

It’s not 11.1 I’ve seen it on 11.0.3 as well.

My girlfriend both starting exhibiting this bug this afternoon. Hers randomly started working normal. Mine I had to create a text replacement but even that has stopped working. Might use gboard for now until apple patches the bug.

I see this a lot on social media. I don’t know how people don’t see it when they type.

    I’m getting it
I’m getting it too. I have an iPhone 7, and it’s updated to iOS 11.1 (or whatever the latest is). I️ have to choose the upper case “I” from the predictive text every time I type it or I get this “box” or “A” or question mark...Annoying as hell.

If you read through this thread you'll see some suggestions, including those directly from Apple: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT208240

My iPhone (7 Plus with iOS 11.1) is doing the same thing. This is obviously a bug that Apple needs to resolve. It’s very annoying.

I appreciate your help. I tried it and then... the same thing that's been happening on my computer texts is now happening. HAHAHA
It only happens in emails though? weird!

    --- Post Merged, Nov 4, 2017 ---
ok!! I got it. I had originally had "Phrase: I" and "Shortcut: I" - now I have it as -- "Phrase: I" and "Shortcut: i" :) That works

The spell checker and auto correct has been somewhat iffy when I upgraded from iOS 10 to iOS 11.
I’m not a terrible speller, but I have used google more than ever to check word spelling when I upgraded to iOS 11.

Even word “iffy” is not being properly recognized as proper word as I type it out. So I’m doubting my self half the time with many words. Thought it was just me, but I’m glad I’m not alone.

so I used the Apple suggestion to add a text replacement, but it still doesn't work for me, because the text replacement i program keeps deleting itself!! it's the weirdest thing. i've programmed the replacement 6 times already, and it doesn't hold.
