This weekend we attempted to watch The Princess and the Frog. We purchased this movie on April 21st, 2013. When we tried to watch this movie we were told that a billing issue on our account was preventing us from watching the movie.

Apparently we have had a bit of a billing snafu this last week and an item we tried to purchase did not go through billing. I apologize for this and will correct this problem on Wednesday when I get paid. That being said, it seems unreasonable that Apple would prevent me from viewing a completely different item that has already been paid for. I accept, and completely agree, that you would block the item that failed a billing attempt and even block future purchases. However to block the download, playing, or otherwise interacting with an item already bought and paid for is wrong. In fact one could argue it borders on fraud or theft.

I am asking that Apple amend their policies and procedures around the way they handle failed purchases to block only:
a. The content attempted to purchase
b. Future purchases

While I will correct my billing mistake, again genuinely sorry we LOVE your tech and services, I must make a stand against the current method used to force customer compliance. While I am sure it is effective, it is not fair and I am certain not legal. I will be making this request public knowledge and will be pursuing this change vigorously.
[doublepost=1549844993][/doublepost]Going through the same thing. My CC had to be suspended due to an unauthorized charge by someone else using my card info. Now I owe Apple 2.99 for extra storage and I’m blocked on all of my movies and can’t watch them. I’m getting a new bank card tomorrow and I think this set up is bogus!!! Apple needs to fix this Pronto!!

The thing that's strangest to me is the lack of an option to cancel the offending purchase. That's gotta be a bare minimum. If it's a subscription, have the option to cancel it. Mimic brick and mortar. If you can't pay at the register, just put the item back on the shelf, and keep the functionality of everything else intact. o_O

I don't understand this thread at all.

OP is not asking any questions, or seeking comments. Just posting communication between him/her self and iTunes, apparently about an unpaid bill.

I can't tell what OP wants from us. Support? Advice? Sympathy? What??

It also appears that OP owes iTunes money, and is miffed that iTunes had cut him/her off until the bill is paid.

Aside from that...I still don't get it!

Sorry if I'm a bit slow...

The user paid for his content and when he went to buy something else realized he didn’t have the funds available but previous purchases have all been stolen by Apple which is a complete crock of ****. I have Purchased 94 movies from ITunes and have also ran into this problem. I have spent well over $2,000 on iTunes purchases and those should be my property. I am Going to look into a way of suing these crooks for this unethical practice.

[doublepost=1558369178][/doublepost]Did you get any response or resolution? I just ran into this. I agree it surely can’t be legal. I have 111 movies that cost $9.99-$19.99 and preventing access due to a $15 issue definitely seems illegal. I should buy DVDs.

It is not illegal. You agreed to the terms and conditions.

I believe the OP wants to be able to download previously purchased content until the billing problem is resolved (not get new content). It sounds reasonable but I'm not sure Apple has a setup where they can turn off specific areas of an account (i.e. allow downloads of previous purchased content while not allowing new purchases).

Ideally, correct the mistake, then proceed... If you were allowed to proceed, where is the incentive to update?

I guess a middle approach would be good, but its still sounds less than appealing, as you could always be watching previous shows all the time, and never ever worry.

i.e it wouldn't be front attention anymore, it would be more, pushed to the back waiting.

VERY UNUSUAL to have lost so many albums. Something nor right there and maybe a call to Apple will fix this. One or two yes but not 400dollars worth.
.

My advice - if you love it - Download it!

Multiple calls to Apple and no resolution. The problem is I was downloading the deluxe editions and them seem to keep changing and the old ones go away. Case in point was Radiohead. I bought all the expanded deluxe editions and now they’re all gone or replaced.
The problem is, as I said, no more Mac so no way to download them anymore.

This is the first time I’ve been back to this forum in months and just saw your response, BTW.

[doublepost=1566787048][/doublepost]I understand, before you could watch your movies you purchased regardless, but now if you’ve tried to purchase something extra and you didn’t have enough balance on your card iTunes takes its as delinquent and shuts down everything which isn’t fair. It’s like holding your movies and rentals hostage. Ask stated years ago it wasn’t like that. Now everything is in the freaking cloud & they should change it be use or seems illegal not letting you have access to previous purchased items. As a back up, your movies should be downloaded on a external hard drive

If Apple ignored the billing, which is what your saying they should do, then technically you should never have to pay.. Since the same argument can always be made. You'd then get to the point of having 6+ outstanding billing problems, which can/will never be resolved if you never want to.

This is ridiculous. It's like you miss a car payment and the repo company comes and tows away all the family cars.

This is an antiquated solution in a world where identity theft happens on the reg. It’s insanely anti-consumer.

At the very least you should just lose access to the subscriptions that the billing is having problems with. E.g. Apple Music, Netflix, etc.

It feels very punitive and antithetical to Apples philosophies. It’s disgusting it’s still going on this many years later.
