While everyone here is thrashing the OP for their rather extreme statements, I'll say one thing.

"It's a beta" is a terrible argument in that 1. We heard the same thing about Apple Maps (look how that turned out) and 2. These UI elements are most likely finalized. We will only see VERY MINOR UI tweaks before the GM, and buttons are pretty major in the UI.

Just my thoughts.

You're probably right. On the whole I think iOS 7 is wonderful, but there are definitely some misfires. We may have to wait for iOS 8 to rectify them.

So basically same discussion as last year when we had some people saying that Apple was going to switch on "real" maps data after the release of ios6 and how this was going to solve all the issues with maps... A year later and we are still waiting...

Hopefully we won't have to wait another year for GUI...

Maps are a completely different beast and not a fair comparison whatsoever. Design and UI fall under Apple's core competencies - they are things that they have traditionally been very good at, have the eye for, and are well known for. Sourcing and organizing massive amounts of data to drive a maps app is a whole different ball game and yes, they dropped that ball. I would even go so far as to argue that they should've stayed out of data altogether, it's a bit of a Pandora's Box.

I have no idea why that after tweaking iOS for years to make it one of the easiest to use operating systems ever that we would not give them at least the benefit of the doubt in this situation. They obsess over every little detail and I'm positive all of OP's tiny complaints (which somehow amount to "junk" overall) have been noticed a thousand times over internally. On top of that, in terms of development hours, the issues OP is pointing out are so far removed from being a priority at this stage.

And changing the color of a button or a slider to make it more obvious is well within the scope of the beta process. They've modified Control Center, changed fonts, modified the keyboard, and much more already. There's no weight behind that argument; there are plenty of things that are not set in stone.

Usability is and always has been a huge part of what Apple does. iOS 7 is not perfect and is not complete. If that is not clear to you, then you clearly are not a developer and should not be using it.

PS: Enjoy your time-out.

We will see 11 Betas this year. iOS 7 is not done. And if the pattern persist it will be a total of 22 weeks. And then however long until the GM is released. Then... Only then could you make a thread expressing your hatred for iOS 7 and not be crucified.

The two items of "proof" that have been provided by the OP are essentially ten second changes rather than major design overhauls to drive resolution.

Transparency and blurring are tough problems to solve, but will be great once optimized. We are clearly not in the optimal state quite yet. Let's not panic.

I'm not sure what Apple could do about the blue borders - even if they changed the colour it's still on top of a translucent background, so it'll disappear in certain situations.

I'm not sure that the translucency effects will get any better. For one thing, Apple is having developers perform many translucency effects themselves rather than creating system-wide methods for using it. What that means is that Apple can't centrally tweak the translucency effects - if they later decide to abandon it, every App will need to be updated once again to remove it. Similarly, accessibility settings (like the "enhance contrast" setting which removes the blurs) also won't work in most Apps.

I wouldn't say it's time to panic, but it's definitely time to start getting very concerned. It doesn't look like the blur effects or translucency are going to be changed significantly before release.

Newsflash: Jobs and Forstall are gone.

Some people are never satisfied and you can't make everyone happy. The appearance is drastically changed because of the endless complaints the IOS 6 is old fashion and doesn't change enough. So Apple decides it's time for a major changes to satisfy these complaints and out come the complaints that the old OS so good and why was it changed for the sake of change. Apple can't win. They're dammed if they do and dammed if they don't.

I agree that ios 7 design is horrible, but complaints about it on this forum will fall on deaf ears. People on here watched all the developer videos and the Jony Ive preach and drank the kool aid. Im not afraid if change. I change ny phones all the time, bith ios and android. I change my iphone all the time with jailbreak tweaks. This has nothing to do with change. Its just a matter of opinion. I think it looks like garbage and if they wanted to do flat design they should have looked to Google for what makes a pleasant flat design. People have already talked themselves into liking ios 7 and when it releases it will be Apples way or the highway. They will force it down your throat until you learn to love it.

The hyperbole around here is hillarious. But what's even more hillarious is everyone who's suddenly become a design expert. Some of these threads would be perfect for the Angry Mac Bastards podcast. :D

Can the mods merge this thread with this existing one? https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1597114/

The blue outlines on the buttons look terrible. I hope they fix this, the Game Center icon, and the Safari icon.

well then my opinion is proof!

Just for the record...

opinion |əˈpinyən|
noun
a view or judgment formed about something, not necessarily based on fact or knowledge: I'm writing to voice my opinion on an issue of great importance | that, in my opinion, is dead right.

proof |pro͞of|
noun
1 evidence or argument establishing or helping to establish a fact or the truth of a statement: you will be asked to give proof of your identity | this is not a proof for the existence of God.

Please note the distinction...the quote above is totally illogical...

You think that the design is junk? WOW! This is the first I've heard of an iOS 7 UI complaint

Give me a break. First its a beta...it will get better in some way. Second. If you dont like it, theres the door.

You clowns continue on saying to yourself, "it's a beta, it's a beta...oh god, please let this be a beta!!!"...while in your sleep.

Folder transparency is different from beta 1 to beta 2, calm the hell down because you clearly don't understand anything about the design process.

Right, just because you think iOS looks like garbage means no one else really likes it. We all talked ourselves into liking it when secretly we all think it's garbage. And allllll the people who will claim to like iOS 7 when it comes out are just brainwashed by Apple having been forced to drink the koolaid.

Makes sense.

The secret location of the surf village. j/k proof that iOS 7 is junk.

I think it went over his head :p

The secret location of the surf village. j/k proof that iOS 7 is junk.

Well since I'm not using it on any iOS device that will be hard for me to do. I'll reserve my judgment for when iOS 7 ships and is installed on my phone.
