that dumb guy at the white house didnt take into account of another very important aspect. Chinese people are already starting to boycott US tech products. There is a huge anti US sentiment running in the country now. This will never change back even if a deal is struck.
Yeah, one thing I can definitely say is the people in those countries know how to come together and be one, us in the US on the other hand are divided about every dang thing from stupid politics to social class. We can never agree on anything and couldn't boycott Chinese made products if we wanted to.

There is no reason for the U.S. Consumer to pay the Tariffs as China subsidizes product to such a large degree, only 4 points were paid by the U.S., 21 points by China.

Plus tariffs can be avoided by buying from a non tariff country or purchasing American goods.

That’s all irrelevant. Consumer prices are already increasing. Most consumer electronics cannot be made in the USA, we don’t have the infrastructure.

This is a lose-lose scenario for American consumers, American businesses, and American investors.

All we can hope for is more intelligent voting in 2020. China is probably hoping for the same - maybe they’ll even try to interfere with our election process! Trump sure won’t do anything to prevent them - he still won’t acknowledge Russian interference in our 2016 election, which is settled fact.

I agree with this decision. Make more products in the United States. I love the hypocrites that buy cheap Walmart chinese junk and then turn around and complain about income equality. If you buy items from Walmart, Target, Amazon etc you are part of the problem. The trade between China and the US is definitely a one sided deal and most of our income is sent over there by buying up their cheap products. The US doesn't produce much of anything anymore.

News flash. Not everyone is rich enough to buy local. Some have tuition fees to pay off for life

ITs the two sides to the same coin.
Everyone thought things were going to change when Obama came in..yes a much smarter man was president and softer on social issues but he kept the military industrial complex going full steam ahead.
The idea that the leaders of the world can really do any leading is a dream.
They ALL do what they are told by the cabal.
Yep, I've been saying that forever. All those politicians and presidents serve the same group behind the scenes, they all play golf together, eat $200 steaks, and party together. They only fight on TV and us idiots eat it up. Divide and Conquer.

Electing dumb people has consequences.
We, the American people will make sure President Trump is elected again in 2020

Congrats! Let’s see if the American people will vote for him again...
They will. The democratic candidates make him look like a genius regardless of how dumb you think he is.

Sure, blame the victim. Nice.

No one's blaming the victim.

But this is what happens when you put all your eggs in one basket. I support the tariffs, but I also recognize that we put ourselves in this situation through corporate greed and the need to chase profits. All that offshoring into China during the 90's is coming back to bite us hard. So we have to do something about it. It's an ever-growing national security risk, because China most assuredly does not have our best interests at heart.

And lets also not overlook that the Chinese Communist Party is pretty ruthless and is playing hardball now.

China is meddling in the 2020 election. Why do you think they specifically targeted soybeans, rice (all of which they import a lot of), and other mid-west manufactured items?

It's not to spite themselves.

It's because that's where Trump's base is. China is hurting Trump's voters -- heartland America -- and China knows that. China's Xi is a dictator now, since the CCP voted him in for life. Trump only has 4, maybe 8 years.

Now here's the real test- are you okay with China's meddling? Or have you let petty, partisan politics influence your judgement to the point where your answer is "yes".

The last 4-5 presidents I would agree.

But Trump isn’t deep state or establishment. It’s quite clear the deep state hates and attacks him constantly. This includes formerly partisan-run intelligence agencies and the media.

In the long run this trade deal with be beneficial for America. China is robbing ya blind right now.
The deep state is not a thing. At least not what you think it is. And off course Trump is establishment. He works for Wall Street despite his blue collar image.
And you do realise US companies have to pay these taxes, not the Chinese?

If you go to college and take a degree program that charges so much that it takes a lifetime to pay it off...

...then by simple economic common sense, you should not have taken that degree program, at that college!!!

Would you buy a car to get to work so expensive that it takes all your monthly income to make a monthly car payment?

All Trump is doing is driving up the cost of Chinese imported goods to the point that American goods are cost competitive. It’s forcing poor and working class consumers to spend more money on things.

China’s retaliatory tariffs, in turn, are hurting American businesses trying to sell anything to China.

This is not how you “make America great again.” This is more like drinking poison and hoping it hurts your enemy.

the economy IS doing great. greed is out of control? how much does apple pay for the phones using slave like labor?
I was saying it's greedy to have a great economy and then say "BUT I WANT MORE".

So how long is the US supposed to take a wash with the trade deficit? We are losing billions so that a few poor people can buy chinese shitt from the 99 cents store?

Start making everything in Africa / India / other Asian nations. Forget China.

I am a 99% certain that Apple has already entertained this idea, but could not pull it off as yet for a variety of reasons (staff work culture, skills, corruption levels, threat of military conflicts, transport logistics, etc.). Apple are a global company, however, so I am sure they will find a solution one way or the other.

That is your comment? Blame game?
Makes no sense and you obviously put little to no thought into it.
Do you even know why many farmers went to soybeans?

Far too many corporations have played the "trade IP for cheap labor" while Washington played disingenuous with the real impact past agreements / lack of enforceable agreements have.

Many of the same companies are now moving to other locations.

I see some interesting similarities between this situation and Apple's app store...

App developers: We want a freer market. We want the option of doing business on the iPhone without the constraints and cost imposed by Apple.

Large corporations like Apple: We want a freer market. We want the option of doing business in the U.S. without the constraints and cost imposed by the country.

Can't be selective when you champion a free market. It has to apply to everyone.
