Awful. Worst iPhone design of all time. (I have to carry an 11 for work)
I have an 11 and have been very happy with it. Will probably end up getting the new SE if this rumor turns out to be true. I don't really use my phone enough to justify getting one of the more expensive models.

I was thinking the opposite. If you look at the new 10th generation iPad, would suggest Apple wants to move to this design language across all of its devices.

What I suspect will happen is, the iPhone SE 4 will get a A16 and use the iPhone Mini design language and the iPhone SE 3 with its A15 will remain available at a new price point of 299.
No, no, no, no, no.
always has been as simple as can be.

Old, outdated design with all main components at least one generation behind. Put in the latest SoC and a few conservative upgrades to the internals. Voila. $429!

Cannot be a new mini with OLED because then it competes with mid tier iPhone.

Cannot be mini with LCD because then Apple has to spend r&d for a new device.

It’s Xr with whatever is going to be the latest SoC when it drops.

SE formula has never changed and never will.

This guy has a very big mouth and very little credibility.

Although such a rumour is an obvious one....

Look at last year when he proudly announced the Apple Watch series 7 would be flat faced and edged resembling the iPad pro... he even showed renders with glee as he was running apple's announcements....
and then also the very loud 'factual' prediction he made showing the so-called iPhone 14 BEFORE the iPhone 13 was launched.... this tuned out to be utter fiction (flush cameras on the back etc etc).

Just another attention seeking YouTuber
Wonder why MacRumors gives him so much air time and soft pedals his lack of credibility.

That'll be iPhone SE 5, releasing in 2024/2025.

Patience, fellow mini enthusiast... we will rise again...

Quite possible, although the 13 mini probably needs to be discontinued first. What they have been doing is taking a discontinued phone and resurrecting it with updates internals. Hopefully the 13 mini sales improve as it drops in price.

iPhone XR 2018 design... we're almost to the year 2023.

I’m getting tired of seeing the old designs by Apple. Where is the hardware team?
The SE is always a supply chain based model. They already have the tooling and factories set up to pump out this form factor.

For the *budget* iPhone…why would anyone reasonably expect Apple to dump excess capital costs into complete retooling?

as an XR user, I'm satisfied by this phone. If SE is using this design, it will be a very practical low-budget phone.
“Practical” is subjective, since the XR is gigantic (same 6.1” screen as 14, but body makes it bigger).

But, “practical” in the sense of having large screen, full iOS experience not scaled, pretty great camera with updated software processing (se2022 is amazing), more storage hopefully starting at 128gb.

Yeah, seems like a practical upgrade.

Though, I’m lighting a prayer candle and pouring one out for the small phone era 😩

Your grandma, your teen daughter, and your brothers 60-year-old dad, non of whom are following Apple product news, have to look at the 2023 iPhone lineup and instantly recognize which are the newer, more valuable devices and which ones are the older and/or lower value.

A 2023 or 2024 lineup with an SE 4 that’s 1/1 just a new 12/13 mini with the latest SoC for $429-$499 would destroy Apple’s value ladder in an instant.

SE in 12/13 or 12/13 mini body can only happen post 2023 September iPhone event when the design of mid tier and Pro iPhones graduates to something new.

But if SE 4 happens in Q1-Q2 of 2023 then there’s next to no chance of an SE 5 until Q1-Q2 2024 or 2025.

These launch dates and product strategies are not subject to change.

The whole reason I’ve gotten each generation of the SE as a secondary device thus far are two primary features: 1) Touch ID and 2) small size.

If this turns out to be true I guess that’ll be the end of my SE buying, sadly.

The all-in-one Mac kept a very similar design for a long time. I don’t mind it for entry-level products like the Color Classic, iPhone SE, etc.
