Never played on XBox Live. And I will not go into the details of why all of you are just trying to solve a matter that cannot be solved. No matter what you do, there are different consoles that satisfy different needs.

Only one thing I would like to point out:

WiFi on my PS3 is great. It automatically recognized my Airport Express, and I am playing online Resistance and Call of Duty with a 2mbit connection, and I am having one hell of a time playing them. I have experienced no noticeable lag whatsoever. Actually, the lag is less than games played on my Mac.

I am really satisfied with PS3's online performance so far. I don't know if it's better than XBox Live, but I only wanted to be able to play games online lag-free, and I am, so I think that this should be enough, at least for me.

beside warhawk and RFoM, most game have really bad online implementation
And, you just told what everyone needs to hear: Lag issues are not only due to the console's networking problems, but because of poor online implementations. Games like COD4, WarHawk, and Resistance are enough to prove that lag-free online play is something that can be done with no more effort than on any other platform. I won't accept excuses like examples of other games that do not perform well. If one company has managed to do it, then it's feasible and realizable. And since it can be done, it must be done.

The problem with the PS3 online is the lack of standard. We all know that it is feasible. Since Sony is not enforcing any standard, you are at the mercy of developer. God knows some will cut corner to put on the box : Multiplayer.

That 3D platformer from the eighties comment made me laugh, because it's so ridiculous. Kids these days. It really is true that most of them can't discern between subjective and factual information.

Latency on mice "was" a Bluetooth thing. :)

As a gamer from the 80's as well. There were not 3D platformers like that, they were isometric 3D games like Knight Lore or Headz & Tails on the spectrum, but not 3D in the same sense as Mario 64 (polygons and all that jazz)

Besides regardless if Mario 64 wasn't the 'first' 3D platformer (after all Pandemonium on PS1 was quasi 3D I guess & jumping flash and they came out before mario 64) it was the first to truly utilize it to it's 'best' ability and set a benchmark that has still yet to be passed.

Incorrect.

Pitfall came before it, and many other titles came before Pitfall.

According to Wikipedia, Jump Bug was the first scrolling platformer, released in 1981. SMB wasn't til 1985.

Pitfall didn't scroll. Looks like you're right on Jump Bug, but it wasn't on consoles.

SMB was the first on consoles.
Nintendo's platform game Super Mario Bros., released for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1985, was the first console platform game to feature smooth scrolling levels.

I don't mean to break up yall NES party but....(sega genisus intro) SEGAAA!!!!!!

I've been gaming since the 80s(damn I'm old) and pitfall brings back some fond memories but if I can recall I don't think it had a smooth scrolling thing going on.

Bless

2NY if you are going to go old school with Sega at least mention the Master System first ;)

I was a Sega nerd all of the way. :) I owned the SMS, GamerGear, and Genesis.

I was always a dual-console guy. I even have one of the rare CDX's; a combo unit smaller than the original Genesis that includes both the Sega Genesis and Sega CD.

It's almost smaller than the 32X, and I have a 32X to attach on top, which looks REALLY awkward, but it works :D

Sonic CD was awesome, but the Sonic 3 & Knuckles combo cartridge is one of my favorite games of all time.

I love retro stuff :D

I was lucky enough to have a Mega Drive, NES and Amiga in my childhood.

I still call them my fave consoles :)

I have an Airport Extreme and I have no problems...

You're right! I just got an X Box Elite. The Airport Extreme network problems I had with my previous X Box 360 are non existent now.

So, if I may change my vote. I'll take both (PS3 and 360) :D

From what I've heard from owners of both consoles (people I know) the PS3 is apparently the one to get. They just like it more than the 360 for some reason.

From a family that owns both, I agree with your statement. :)
The PS3 just seems all round better value, as well as neater, with the power supply being internal. I also like the idea of Bluray rather than multiple DVD discs or 2 HD-DVD discs eventually, when 360 owners are probably going to be forced to buy the attachment.
Of course, as said it's 100% personal preference. Just get what has more games that you like.

360 is gangsta, PS3 is a hater and i am jockin' on dem haters mang.

So 360 wins

Plus 360 is white, thus looks more like a Mac, even if it is a rival. PS3 is overhyped and owning it makes you look unintelligent as, you have just spent a huge amount more on something with not-so-obvious advantages.

Bottom Line, Real G's Buy 360
