It's not price gouging nor a rip off. You simply decided that, for you, the services weren't worth it. Let's not be over-dramatic here.
It's the same price as disney+/skyshowtime for me with way less content. It's a rip off and price gouging. I cancelled it and will subscribe a single month for Foundation.

I pay $39.95 a month for Apple One Premier in Australia. Even with a price increase it’s still great value for everything you get. Netflix in Australia for the 4K plan is $22.99 and that is one service and nothing else.

First of all, price gouging has nothing to do with this. These are luxury services, not essential goods or services that Apple is trying to take advantage of needy consumers with absurd price hikes. Second, it's not a rip-off, which implies either fraud or gross overpricing, neither of which apply here. Did you ever stop to think that Apple TV+ has original content that the other streaming services don't that you may not care about but others do? And of course if someone wants multiple Apple services and signs up for Apple One, Apple TV+ is included anyway.

So, no, it's neither price gouging nor a rip-off. It's simply that you personally don't see the value in the service. That's not the same thing.

I wish Apple One was more à la carte where you can pick and choose among the services. For example, I am not a gamer, would like the News, iCloud (200GB), Music and Apple TV+ as an option. As for the costs, everything is going up and the breaking point is coming soon (likely not til early 2023).
That would be better for the consumer. But I don't think it fits Apple's goals for why the bundle exists.

From their perspective, there is no value in offering popular services together for a discount, when you would have bought them all individually anyway.

Also: bundling popular services (iCloud, Music) with less popular services (News+, Arcade) allows Apple to report that there are HUGE numbers of subscribers to services like News+ that hardly anyone actually cares about.

I wonder how much time people, who have subscribed to multiple streaming services, spend per month on watching content. I find more than one or two hours per day already exhausting, because most content needs a lot of attention to follow it. Let's say you watch 50 hours per month. Then you might pay $2 or more for streaming, which seems a lot for me.

Apple last week announced pricing increases for Apple Music, Apple TV+, and the Apple One bundles that include those services, and customers are now receiving emails making them aware of the changes.

Apple-One-Apps-Feature-2.jpg

In the United States, Apple Music is $1 more expensive for individual users and $2 more expensive for families, while Apple TV+ is $2 more expensive. Apple One plans that include these services are increasing in price accordingly as well. Current Apple Music, Apple TV+, and Apple One subscribers are receiving emails from Apple about the price increase, with a 30 day heads up. Emails have been going out since last week, but a number of Apple One subscribers will be receiving notices this week as it is the two year anniversary of the service's launch.

Those who do not want to pay the increased prices should have plenty of time to cancel their subscriptions before the cost changes are enacted, with the emails include a link to subscription management options.

Apple Music

  • Individual plan - $10.99/month, a $1 increase
  • Family plan - $16.99/month, a $2 increase
  • Annual plan for individuals - $109/year, a $10 increase
Apple TV+

  • Monthly plan - $6.99/month, a $2 increase
  • Annual plan - $69/year, a $20 increase
Apple One

  • Individual plan - $16.95/month, a $2 increase
  • Family plan - $22.95/month, a $3 increase
  • Premium plan - $32.95/month, a $3 increase
The pricing increases listed above pertain to the United States, but the cost of Apple Music, Apple TV+, and Apple One is also going up in other countries where the services are available.

Apple raised the price of Apple Music due to increased licensing costs that will provide more money to artists and songwriters, while Apple TV+ is more expensive because it now offers more content than it did when the service launched.

Glad I'm not using any of these.

lol. apple one premier family price here in Australia now:

$42.95 / month

I'm lazy and can't be bothered figuring out which services between myself/partner to keep so I'll keep the sub, but does seem a bit rich to me.

Cancelled my apple music , going with spotify duo for the wife and I. Save $48 a year ! Thats like almost 4 free months compared to Apple

will see how long before the others raise their prices too.

Spotify was waiting for Apple to raise their prices first. Wouldn't be surprised if it's announced soon.

Ugh… more price increases. Yet when you go to cancel … well not apple but they offer you discounts to stay on. Like paramount + I went to cancel and they offered another month for free.. this subscription bs I think we’ve all had enough. It’s greed that’s all it is. Yeah companies need to make $$ but I don’t see apple in the red. They are just raising this to make up for the lost revenue in actual product.

I am a Prime subscriber so I get Prime Video - I do not subscribe to it for the video. I see it more as a perk. Still it gets about an hour a day avg use in my house.
I am a Netflix subscriber - family - while I watch very little the rest of the family watches a decent bit. Couple of hours a day they use on avg. They love to binge watch series.
I have YouTube Premium - that is mostly for me as I use it for casts to music to news to history. That gets a lot of use as it will frequently play in the background - say 3-4 hours avg per day.

I used to subscribe to Hulu - dropped
I used to subscribe to Apple TV - started as a freebie but I dropped it when I saw how little I was getting
I used to subscribe to HBO Max - started as a freebie from AT&T but I also dropped it - cost and lack of use

It is easy to get pulled into these especially when you start with a multi month free give.

If subscribers don't suddenly flee in droves then prices will stagnate or go up.

Enough subscribers must be sticking to their subscriptions or signing up otherwise Apple wouldn't be doing this.

Not that simple.
To keep the shareholders happy, if inflation / recession causes some markets to drop or plateau, a company will likely raise prices in other areas to compensate.

it is, in the Mac OS system pref, search Media and Purchases. click manage, click edit for apple one subscription. Pick what you want. I'll me looking for a self hosted solution for cloud storage and keep Apple Music.

14$ in Switzerland… is already too expensive for that service… we start to feel that we are forced to listen!
