MKBHD's will be something like "Why are people returning their Visions Pro? Let me explain..." he gotta milk his review unit as much as he can. No need for him to return anything.
Its content we are interested in.

I returned mine today. Bummer, because I've been following this device since WWDC (and even longer). I didn't have a problem with the weight, and once I got the right light steal—12N—the solo band was incredibly comfortable. There are so many amazing things about the Vision Pro.

But the software just isn't there for productivity, and the hardware is blurry compared to a 4k monitor that costs an 8th of the price. Nor could I justify the device for a work computer in its current state. The beta VisonOS 1.1 updates 1 & 2 made passthrough a lot better and fixed some bugs. If VisionOS was closer to MacOS rather than iPadOS I might feel more confident that Apple would quickly catch up and developers would fill the void. But I've got several generations of iPads too, and I still do the bulk of my work on a Macbook.

Pity. I was really hoping this would replace my desktop setup. Maybe when VisonOS 2 comes out I'll grab one.
it will never replace your MacBook Pro.

Anyone saying that is lying.

This is the new iPad folks.

Regarding the returns it’s all about the cost.

I have no doubt that if this was under $2k there would be less returns.

Hopefully Apple gets there.

It’s could if Apple would let it

I said the returns would be epic once the 14 day return testing is up. Here we go…. Common Apple, be transparent here! You touted the big sales, now let’s see the return figures! 🤭🤡 My best guess is maybe 50k actually sold with no returns?!?! I am being generous here and even if that. It will be dead in less than 6 months with 1 year absolute tops.

I use mine every day for work and play. Get a face shield…you don’t use an iPhone without a case, do you? My light seal is fine and like I mentioned, it’s getting heavy use. The solo knit band is awesome, but anyone who knows anything about headsets knows you need the dual-band….I wish it was a hybrid of the two. The solo band is really just for guest mode.
The dual band is great: The lower band holds it down and the upper band holds it up.

Perfect:

But it doesn't work for me. The back of my head is not round like that, so the lower band rides up, the upper band slips forward, and the Vision Pro slides down my face.

I applaud Apple for putting both bands in the box, so people can use the one that works best. For me it's the solo knit band.

How many were so called influencers or YouTubers whom just wanted to get AVP content so they did not miss the bandwagon just to return it. I will look to purchase when it is available in Australia.

I wish they have not advertised the pass through being crystal clear, everytime I put it on and see all the blurryness I instantly feel like this is not worth 4K. Also when I try to watch movies in a dark environment there is glare from the lenses so I end using a daytime environment late at night. I was forcing myself to use it every day but I haven’t since Monday. Maybe the next model. This would be the first apple product I ever returned. Surely I’ll update my M1 iPad to the M3.
Why though? I’m still on my iPad Pro 2018 12.9. Nothing about it says “upgrade me I’m slow”.
It’s could if Apple would let it

I thought Apple was in on the iPad replacing Macs but nope.

IMO it’s set up for a consumption device

It uses iPad apps
Plays movies well
Crappy onscreen keyboard

Thankfully we have Mac rumors to help us count to 14 days. Dont know what we should do without you guys. Thank you. 😊☺️😂

They should have launched a $1500-2000 plain "Apple Vision" focused on media consumption first. And had optional controllers for more precise and less laggy input for games, "painting"/sculpting, etc. Then build up the ecosystem, let people get their feet wet with a HMD with no eyesight, a cheaper/lighter body, and a better strap system (just copy the Quest's elite strap). Once you've got a foothold and a customer base pleased with what they get for the price of a top-end iPad...THEN release a Pro version at $3500 aimed at enterprise and actual professionals with all the benefits that come with going through 1-2 iterations of the non-Pro variant. They wouldn't have anywhere near as many returns. I'd bet a GOOD portion of the people that bought an AVP did so with the intent to return it from the get-go due to the price. Rather than settle for a 30 minute store demo they wanted a two-week trial.

It’s sad so many ppl want apple to fail at this.
It’s so sad seeing Apple wanting to fail on this so bad, I mean had they priced it at 1000 it would have been more expensive than meta but people would have expected that from Apple.
The thing is, it does the same thing of a quest (or even less as there a no joystick, even optionals for gaming) sure it has better screen but lower FOV, all it seems to do is mimic a computer but as the iPad showed, people who want a computer buy a computer.

It’s cool, it’s futuristic but not very practical.

For a lot less i bought a quest 3, it does what I expect it to do, entertain, it’s not a productive device and I don’t expect it to be as I would not wear it for more the 1 hour or one hour and a half.

The quest works also as PC VR which is a bonus.

All in all, even at the same price, except for the screen quality, the quest is more value for money (for now).

People saying a Vision Pro will never replace a Mac, remember it was said a Mac will never replace an IBM command line computer at the time of its release.
A laptop was never supposed to replace a desktop either.
Nobody foresaw more than 500 apps in the iOS App Store. An Apple Watch is a solution in search for a problem and yet it's now the highest selling watch in the world.
And Vision Pro is more upto mark than any of these products were in their first gen.

I wonder if anyone publicly knows or has guessed what their margins are on vision pro..

They might have had a meeting where they adjusted the retail price to account for returns from influencers 😂

AvP retailing at $1499

After meeting

AvP retailing at $3499

🤨

They absolutely will have factored this into the MSRP to some extent or another? They surely do for every product they have ever sold, sell currently, or ever will. Prices are almost certainly settled upon based on the overall cost to the business of conceiving, researching, designing, prototyping, manufacturing, advertising, stocking, retail training, selling, shipping, returns, general logistics and so and so forth. No business worth its salt sets prices based solely on the itemised cost of producing the item in question.

In universe theory:

The invention of the Holodeck decimated the VR headset industry. ;)

"spatial computing" or whatever should indeed be holgraphic

I feel design-wise that you shouldn't have to wear the device and have the displays up against your eyes, the displays should be projected in front of you

I said in another thread…. Even star trek stuck with regular screens and displays, tablets…. If it works 😀
Maybe you’re joking but in case not, I wouldn’t draw too many arguments from fictional stories. It could be Star Trek used 2D screens because of something as simple as they didn’t want to cover up actors’ eyes with headsets and/or screens are cheaper for production.

Oh and Vision Pro doesn’t hold up well for any daily use. The laminated glass gets bump so easily. The light seal’s fabric deforms after a few days of use. The solo band also doesn’t hold up to its shape well
What do you mean by bump so easily? And I believe the seals and bands will only be sold new since they are custom fitted.
