Many negatives: cost, discomfort, reported health issues, lack of application/utility.

I'm wondering about who will buy these again at half the price. Certainly these will move if the price is right. At around $1900 something like this would be perhaps a hot item. Who knows,
Could you please cite reported health issues?

He’s explain pm

it will never replace your MacBook Pro.

Anyone saying that is lying.

This is the new iPad folks.

Regarding the reviews it’s all about the cost.

I have no doubt that if this was under $2k there would be less returns.

Hopefully Apple gets there.
Nothing can ever totally replace anything else for everyone (otherwise it would have to be exactly the same), but it might be able to replace a Mac for some for whom the iPad couldn’t. The VP is similar to an iPad in terms of things like file system/management and a closed App Store, but in one aspect it’s more Mac-like which is freedom of windows (and multitasking by association). For some people that may have been what held the iPad back from replacing their Mac.

Problem will always be the fact, having to strap something to your face.

I have a Quest 3 and it is fine for playing games because you are actually very distracted and don’t pay as much attention to it but as soon as I try to just sit down and be „producing“ on virtual displayS (yes plural!) or watch a movie, I notice the weight on my face and it apparently isn’t even as heavy as the AVP! I can’t even imagine wearing anything more heavy. About 20 minutes into a movie, I catch myself constantly adjusting the fit in hopes, it lets my skin breathe or simply fit better but nope it’s simply the fact having something rest on my face for too long. Laying down also doesn’t help because gravity puts even more of the weight directly onto my face. I basically end up making the strap more loose and hold the device with my hands while looking through it by the end of a movie 😅

And then I question, why I even do this to myself

I wonder the same.

It’s probably used for “work” much in the same way people claim to use iPads for work.

I imagine anybody who actually does use an iPad for work would be vastly more efficient just using a normal laptop.
Random strangers actually believing they know other random strangers better than they know themselves. Gotta love the internet.

"spatial computing" or whatever should indeed be holgraphic

I feel design-wise that you shouldn't have to wear the device and have the displays up against your eyes, the displays should be projected in front of you
That would be nice but a practical form could be decades away.

We will never know what the return rate actually is for paying customers. But what will be just as interesting, not to mention obvious, is how long Apple decides to wait in turning around the returns as refurbished units.
They'll hold on to them for a while I think. Maybe even until the next generation of VP. I don't think Apple wants to encourage an impression of VP as a "discount device".

Users, how long does it take from wish to use it to have it on your nose and start a movie/safari in seconds compared to iPad?

I bet they are preparing or anticipating a significant return percentage on these...Apples return policy is very very generous, and its great that its there.. but I suspect that there would have been a lot of people who would have been planning to return there headsets after having a go.

The only benefit is that these will be refurbished to an extent and resold as refurbished or replacement sets.... but some parts will have to be scrapped or recycled due to health and hygiene factors.
Or the nausea it caused to me and others was enough to send it back. It was unexpected and not much apple can do about it but it’s the first device they released that simply doesn’t work for everyone

It always strikes me as a bit strange when any of these companies release a piece of hardware with great tech, they have known for years that they will be releasing it and have spent so much on R&D that they do not have a killer app to really show it off.

I mean, it is not like they have not had the time or resources to get something mind-blowing ready for launch.

The same applies to the Quest 3, absolutely nothing to show it is that much different from the Quest 2.

The AVP is a product that needs an explanation, that's never a good start. The iPhone, iPod, iPad didn't really. It's a phone, an iPod, an internet communicating device... That's it, everybody got it after it was said two times (well Steve Ballmer didn't...). That's the problem with the AVP, it does not make sense to a lot of people, me included. And I love tech.

So demand is not that high? I expected that you can sell it on Ebay for more than you paid for.
Demand is definitely not that high. It’s a $3500 almost useless product, I doubt people are queuing to buy it. If they run out at launch was only a combination of many influencers who never intended to keep it but only needed it for their videos and an extraordinarily snall production.

We might see a lot of refurbished goggles on the Apple Store in the near future.
Literally 99% of the youtubers who bought Vision Pro to review it and will now return it for a refund. I suspect that Apple has a long list of banned customers, and many have to buy Apple products through friends and family members or third party resellers. A youtuber would need at least 2 million visualization in order to justify the purchase, otherwise, he/she will be loosing money.
