Zero reactions in public. But I have RBF and people don't tend to approach me much for anything.

They're PAYED to be excited to see someone with it

Most of my friends know I collect high end watches. When I first wore my Galaxy Gear they were all "Ewwwww...that's hideous!"

Got a slightly better reply when wearing my Pebble. Slightly.

Have had only a few see my Apple Watch and the response has been pretty universal the same as the Galaxy Gear. Most can't believe Apple would release something that looks so geeky.

Ultimately, I won't be wearing it other than as a novelty. Same as my other smart watches. For going out, business meetings and such, I prefer my Omega's.

Your friends sound like insecure jerks. ;)

There's plenty of room in the world for multiple products. I've seen some fairly ugly high-end mechanical watches and some really gorgeous ones.

I'm not apt to stroll on over to anyone who is actually my friend and tell them their watch (no matter what type) is "hideous."

Im getting so of reading about all you Americans using your watches to pay! Left out in the cold over here in the UK :(

Yeah, I'm jealous of all the Americans talking about apple pay too. Hoping we get it in the next year, but think it could be longer.

There aren't that many retail locations that accept Apple Pay. I can count on 1 hand how many times I have used it.

#innovative!!!1111!112111211!!`~11!111!!!!

I'm not sure why you are so strangely defensive about someone not having interest on the Apple Watch.

It has nothing to do with people not having interest in the watch.

It has everything to do with people that have no interest in a topic that decide to troll it anyway. Being rude and disrespectful to those people that are interested in the topic.

It take a real genuine ******* to seek out topics they have no interest in just so they can tell people they don't have an interest in them.

Must be a sad existence to spend your limited time on this planet this way. Get a hobby and spend your time researching things you actually like, not commenting ones you "have zero interest in"

Used Apple Pay at Walgreens the other day, and the older cashier lady said, "Oh is that one of those new watches? I hope you don't get robbed..."

Thanks lady.

Now I'm worried someone is going to jump me and take my watch.

I'm not overly paranoid, but there's bound to be muggers who think a sports watch is worth $10,000.

I paid for coffee at Dunkin Donuts this morning. I held out my wrist and the girl asked me why I was holding out my arm. Then her co-worker noticed my watch and was like OH IS THAT THE APPLE WATCH? Guess she didn't realize she needed to scan my pass on the watch.

I had a similar experience at Starbucks. They were like, "Oh, that's so cool, I want one!" Five minutes later two of them that were fawning over it sat directly behind me and started talking about how irresponsible it is to spend that much money on a watch and it's totally unnecessary, etc. It is still not the most expensive watch I own.

Will they relegate it to a drawer much like a grandfather clock merely sits in your house? Probably.

Wasn't that always the intended purpose of the grandfather clock? I mean, what are you supposed to do with it? Take it to parties?

I love how other people feel they know your finances and that you have the same exact situation as them. The watch isn't that expensive for me. And to some, the latest Bentley isn't that expensive.

I know. Not that I want to judge them for judging me by judging them on their finances (follow that?), but it almost sounded like justification for disinterest. "I think it's totally unnecessary" sounds like "I can't afford that so why would anyone else spend money on it."

Anyways, it wasn't that expensive of a purchase for me, especially since I got a Sport, and I'm very happy with my purchase. I just can't believe they decided to sit directly behind me and then talk about it like they weren't just proclaiming their excitement over it.

I still havent used apple pay yet on neither my phone or watch.
I havent seen a place where they accept it here yet except maybe mcdonalds but i dont eat that garbage.

I would like to see it implemented in convinience stores and gas pumps.

I've been bombarded today at work after receiving mine yesterday. It's the OG iPhone all over again! lol. People seem absolutely mesmerized at what it's able to do now. I have to say, using Apple Pay with it the first time was very rewarding. Folks really though that was the coolest feature of all.

my work is full of old people who give exactly 0.0 ****s about anything technology so I'm not surprised that no one has asked me about it, besides the CFO lol.

I did see one guy running with a WSB Sports model yesterday. I raised my apple watch clad fist in the air in a show of solidarity.

I use Apple Pay frequently because I get gas and groceries at Meijer, and when I used my watch to pay for the first time last weekend the cashier seemed really confused. She looked at me and pointed at my watch, then gave me my receipt as if she couldn't wrap her mind around the whole idea.

I love being able to pay with my watch, I don't have to dig my phone out of my purse anymore.

No, because they didn't innovate anything on it yet. Maybe one day, but with Cook in charge, I'm not too certain of Apple anymore bro.

Um.. no? Maybe you should learn what innovate means.

make changes in something established, especially by introducing new methods, ideas, or products.

Digital crown and force touch are new methods of interaction = innovation.

HA HA. Do they have any concept of what fine watches cost?

This reminds me of the time I had a 318i 4-cylinder BMW and a guy asked me if I was going to get a Ferrari next. Yes. Those are the same. $18,000 = $280,000.

I used my watch to pay for a drink at Starbucks today! I'm in the UK too. I used the Starbucks Card app which integrates with Passbook, and it worked flawlessly! Set it up on my phone, and the card appeared in Passbook on the watch. Holding out my wrist for the cashier to scan felt very cool and futuristic! The guy who served me was grinning the whole time (in a good way!)

Not quite as neat as Apple Pay will be, but very cool substitute in the meantime :) Should be able to do the same in Subway as they have a Passbook app too.

Well me either, but since they are my friends, and I asked them what they thought, I appreciate that they are secure enough about our friendship to tell me their true feelings and opinions.

Honest friends aren't the issue. Its the dishonest ones you gotta watch out for in the long run.
