I have seen only one out in the wild since launch day. This was in Vegas this past weekend. I have seen 0 out in Utah. Im actually quite surprised? I think everyone is selling them more than keeping them lol.

I got my first reaction yesterday.

I was getting my hair dyed and cut with my stylist, normally I would have had my phone out and in my lap since it's a long process but I was always worried about chemicals possibly falling on it. But, this time I kept my phone in my purse and just relied on my watch for any notifications.

Well, she didn't notice it for about an hour, but when she did her whole face lit up and she yelled out if that was the 'iWatch'. I told her yes and she excitedly started asking me all kinds of questions, the first one being how much was it? She then asked if I liked it, and I told her I did. That, as a woman, I really don't have deep pockets on any of my clothes so it's really hard to keep my phone on me at all times, so most of the time I miss calls or texts. But, with the watch I don't have to worry about that.

She got super excited and said she was the same way, always forgetting her phone, but she would never forget a watch. She seemed highly interested in getting one.

A few minutes later I heard her talking with other customers and stylist about how cool it was. Hah!

"Did you just pay with your watch?"

"I don't need a watch to tell me to get up and walk around."

Those are really the only things I have heard anyone say to me about my watch. Keep in mind I work in a business setting where I wear long sleeve oxford shirts, so it's not always visible. That and I've only had it since Friday afternoon.

My 5yr old daughter thinks it's the coolest watch ever. :D "Look...Mickey Mouse!!!!!"

I'm kind of confused here. Is it uncommon that my bank had Apple Pay about two weeks after it launched and I can use it at anything with a pay pass? Everyone is talking about certain places accepting Apple Pay and I have been using it to buy stuff from vending machines and Mom and Pop stores for a while now. As soon as Apple Pay came out the local grocery store upgraded all their card readers so people could use it. I guess I assumed that is just how it worked. Anything with a pay pass would work with it. Granted I only use it with my debit card right now.

Mine usually goes unnoticed. A few people have asked how I like it; I assume because they're interested in buying one of their own, judging from the questions.

I was working with 4- and 5-year-olds last week, and the watch sits at eye level for them, so they noticed it right away. I showed them how to touch it to turn it on and "smack" it to turn it off. They were constantly wanting to play with "the light up watch."

I swear I am not lying but people keep asking me "does it tell time?" I SWEAR!!! I answer "actually, that's the one thing it can't do" :D

Some stores actively have it turned off. Like Shop Rite. I tried it at Shop Rite, and it said Done on the watch but didn't go through on the terminal.

Also, today was the first real day I had it out in serious public. I work at a college campus, and passed a ton of kids. Nothing. Then I went to the main street, and still nothing. People in NYC don't care, LOL :)

My only public reaction without using Apple Pay was similar. Tutoring a 7 year old who instantly noticed and asked about the light up watch. My wife on the other hand: got bombarded with questions at the wedding she was photographing, got grilled by the Lyft driver about the use case, and by randoms on the street.

I actually don't expect to see an Apple Watch in my area quite soon. Most importantly because it won't be available officially until late June. But also because a lot people don't seem interested in it. At least, there has been some polls around here and even many Apple addicts don't want one. Not now, maybe when the next one comes out.

But hey, I don't mind being one of the first people carrying one. Would love the attention.

So specific companies starting turning off NFC or "touch to pay" or blah blah blah because certain bigger companies like CurrentC didnt want "Apple customers" to use their platform.

NFC payments have existed since mobile announced the touch to pass fob for your keys.

Wherever you see a NFC reader or the "wireless 3 bar symbol", you can use apple pay and most of the time itll go through unless the company has specifically disabled nfc payments / apply pay. Some companies can disable apple pay because of the tokenization. NFC payments normally just sent the same info your card sent to the reader, but with apple pay the card reader knows nothing, everything is processed at the companies servers and sent to card issuer / bank.

So apparently the 38mm Milanese Loop draws far more attention than I expected. It was delivered to the office today and I was sort of in a rush between viewings for my aunt. I ran to the office around 5pm, grabbed the box, and ran out. The secretary knew what the box contained even though nobody knew I ordered it. She told me to have fun with it, I put it on in the car and set it up while making a quick run to Walmart. Managed to get it to start syncing in the store and ran, grabbed 3 things, got to the counter, noticed an employee had spotted it from about 50 feet away and locked eyes on it the entire time she passed me. Got back home and to the funeral home by 6 and my mom commented how nice it looked, the mortician claimed it was a really cool watch and was amused at what it could do, and another woman saw it and said "well, that is different... That is really neat." My mom also claimed to want one because she thought it looked really nice as a watch. She didn't even care much about the other stuff.

All this and I've not even had it on for 5 hours.

Got a few comments and questions from co workers. One asked "is that the apple watch?" Or "can I see it?" Nobody has said anything in public. Just looks. (I have a blue sport band) so it attracts a little more attention. Obviously my family has seen it. Asked to show them what it does etc. only person I let wear it was by girlfriend and brother. Can't stand when people try to reach for it. I pull my wrist away pretty quickly. ;)

First public experience was fine, but then I've only had the watch for about 19 hours. I went out last night to a bar for my normal trivia night with it on. No one asked or saw the watch, which is fine by me. I found I was relieved that the face turns off as you lower your arm so that it look like a regular watch. Personally, I'd rather not have strangers come up to me so that I can "demonstrate" my new tech. That's not why I got it. I haven't had the pleasure of responding to a text out in public yet, so I can't comment on that. I'm sure I'll turn some heads when that happens tho.

As for friends and coworkers? They expressed interest, but mainly because I'm the type of person who always gets up early to pre-order Apple products. So their excitement was mainly for me finally getting the watch after a month of hearing me moan and groan lol.

The one gripe I may have for it, is that I find myself slightly more distracted. I'm sure that once I get used to the "tap" on my wrist, my distraction level will go down. Do I enjoy it? Immensely! And I cannot wait until I get more comfortable with this beautiful watch! :D

:apple:42mm SS BSB:apple:

I've had my Apple Watch for a week now -- no reactions yet from the public. I constantly get questions about my moto 360 though. I think it's because it looks more like a traditional watch and when they see me slide things around, it's a wow factor.

Kids love to see it and seem really impressed.

Most of my friends or friends of friends don't really care about it and have no plans on getting it.

Couple of strangers noticed it and liked it

McDonalds employees LOVED it when I paid for my food with it. :)

That is right. All the store has to do is turn on PayPass which stores are doing so left and right, and with it also comes Apple Pay! Apple Pay works on existing and future PayPass terminals.

Boarding pass

I used mine again for a boarding pass as LAX this morning. The TSA had only seen two others and mine didn't work but I realized it was user error. I didn't hit the screen to make the bar code on the pass stay one and it kept turning off on me. Boarding was better, and the lady at the desk yelled and gave me a high five as I was the first person she had seen use one. It really made others behind me start asking about it.

I had knee surgery yesterday at the VA hospital and as I was sitting in the wheel chair waiting for my medication, an older lady saw me playing with the watch and asked if it was the new Apple phone. I said no, it's the Apple Watch. She then insisted that it was the new Apple phone. All I could say was ok and let it go.

Not worth arguing with someone that doesn't know what they are talking about.
