The one day I wore my Apple watch out, I also took my gold Macbook with me. Had 7-8 people ask about the Macbook, zero noticed the watch.

It does seem to get unnoticed guessing from replies here, which I find really encouraging. I wouldn't like having to talk about it all the time. I bought it, because I fancied it, I don't want to get into endless discussions with Apple haters or even Apple fans about it when I am at work or just walk around.

I haven't really had anyone notice it. There was one instance when I was in a grocery store on Friday and I got a text. I was reading it on the watch and when I looked up a guy was starring at me and then quickly looked away. That's the closest I've had to someone maybe having a reaction to it.

I was a little tempted yesterday to go to Starbucks purely so I could show off and pay with my Starbucks card on my watch, but I resisted

So people that follow celebrities, read tabloid or fashion mags and watch daytime TV.

You may be amazed to know that not every person in "business" reads every article in the WSJ or Forbes daily.

Not everyone is on Twitter.

Even if you had 3.2 million followers on (choose your show/twitter/etc) that still barely hits the 1% mark of just the population in the USA!

There my be millions of people that know about it, but there are BILLIONS of people on earth. So the majority still might not know.

1. Never said every person. I don't believe in absolutes, & will never speak in absolutes.

2.lmao. There are BILLIONS of people on earth who has never even seen an iPhone. BILLIONS of people without the internet. To even mention something as broad as the BILLIONS of people on earth is just showing your minuscule & short-sighted view on the accessibility of MOST people on earth to begin with.

3. (just talking about America with this point). There are WAY more people that aren't in the business field than there are people that are. I'm talking about your average, everyday person thats in high school or college, has a part time or full time job, has a twitter, facebook or instagram account. A person that likes pop music, or rap music, or r&b, or rock, a person that's into fashion or into Star Wars, a person that likes to follow the current trends, or a person that just likes to watch the news. Its been meticulously placed in the hands of the BIGGEST people in many different genres so that it can reach the eyes and ears of the people who love those genres. Fashion, music, tech, film. Apple was very smart when they decided who will get one, and if you think people are just turning a blind eye to it, you are sorely mistaken.

I will never say that EVERYONE has heard of the Apple Watch, but to say that most people don't even know it exist, as if its been a closed off & exclusive topic & as if it hasn't gotten some rather serious publication, is just way off. I would dare to even say that more people have heard of the Apple Watch than they did the iPhone when it first came out, and we can deff debate about that one.

"so how much did that cost then"

LOL yeah, personally I think that comment is always a sure sign of jealousy, maybe not of the item directly, but the fact you were able to spend that kind of money in the first place.

I usually find that those conversations always go on to be negative.

I've been asked "is that the new iPhone watch" by several people. Really?! iPhone watch? I've also been asked about my "iWatch" a few times. Only once has it been referred to as the apple watch. People seem vaguely interested. Used it at starbucks to pay and the cashier started to talk about it to her fellow employees as I pulled away. Thats about the extent of the reaction to my watch.

On another note... I've always been a watch guy and I've never had any reaction to my watches whatsoever and some of them cost quite a bit more.

I get to use Apple Pay at Subway AND the Starbucks code in a few hours on my way to work. It will be fun to see their reaction.

I've worn mine out and about for the last few days - most people are genuinely excited that i've got one, and pleasantly surprised how small it is! (38mm)

Nearly everyone that's asked me about it, has said they want one eventually - they say they want more features, but when I press them about what... they don't really know.

Worst reaction is someone saying "oh is that the stupid iWatch?" to which my instant reply is, "Apple Watch"

Tell us more stories! You can't say something like "one was abusive" without some details, c'mon! FEED US. :)

haha well we were in a bar in the smoking area and a few people had started talking to me about it, all very pleasant and jokey. Then their friend standing in the corner came over and pushed me asking "you think you're a big man???" (I was in East London). I put it down to the drink on his part but i definitely felt self conscious afterwards. Also didn't like how many people were grabbing my wrist/hand to take a closer look. Again i put that down to people being drunk.

Really interesting to hear about everyone else experiences though!!

Question: do you wear your watch when you're asleep? I guess you don't, right? Then why is it a problem to charge the Apple Watch every day? In fact, even if my iPhone lasts for two days, I naturally put it on the charger every night. So it makes no difference at all. Same with the Apple Watch.

Don't see why people should be complaining about having to charge a device every night.. Well, I don't have the Apple Watch yet, so I can't figure out what could be wrong with that... :p

I actually do wear mine to sleep. I wake up a lot at night and I like knowing what time it is without having to have a brightly lit digital clock on when I fall asleep. That being said, since I got mine Friday, I have only put it on the charger while in the bathroom or while I was at my desktop (not often), and it hasn't died yet. I've slept in it both nights.

Friends: "Where's your Watch that you woke up in the middle of the night to order?"

Me: "Processing."
Yeah, my poor husband got a lot of snark about that with his friends and coworkers.

It's been unseasonably cold here so when I went out yesterday it stayed under a sleeve. I've not yet been to any social events where friends could see it.

I might end up hiding it from a subset of my friends, anyway. There are some self important entitled people out there who think you've got nothing better to do than drop everything to take their call and hear their idiot complaints about a mutual acquaintance, who likely is the actual wronged party. I'd rather they didn't know I get notifications of their inanity on my wrist now.

Sorry this is off topic.... But you made me think about this. I had never thought about NOT charging it every night, but I just reconsidered times that I wouldn't be using it then I could sleep with it and use the taptic to wake me up in the morning without disturbing my wife. Throw it on the charger in my car to and from work (30ish min each way) and it may ok.

Anybody else thought about or tried this?

And out of curiosity... I've never been to Kauai (although I've been to Oahu, Maui, and the main island all several times... Maui is by far our favorite)... Curious if you would recommend it over Maui?

1. Never said every person. I don't believe in absolutes, & will never speak in absolutes.

Then why did you say "everywhere?"

You also said an "abundant" amount of people which implies "most" which simply isn't the case.

2.lmao. There are BILLIONS of people on earth who has never even seen an iPhone. BILLIONS of people without the internet. To even mention something as broad as the BILLIONS of people on earth is just showing your minuscule & short-sighted view on the accessibility of MOST people on earth to begin with.

It was a number to simply show perspective on the numbers.

If you didn't get that then it is you with "minuscule and short sighted things".

Especially if you think immediately turning to personal insults your perspective of "everywhere" is challenged. A perspective that you detailed out as including tabloid/daytime TV/Twitter and entertainment news publications.(yes, I consider the WSJ and Forbes as part of our entertainment media these days. They leave out so many facts it's comical.

I only included the "business person" to address the segment you were covering by including WSJ/Forbes. It wasn't an absolute or any other type of comparison to your "average person" that you seem to think ALL of follow TV drama, ads, social media.

Guess what? The vast majority still spend more time doing things that sitting around reading tabloids, Talk shows and Twitter.

I'm sure that many people hve heard of it. But I'd say that there is a huge number that haven't. Just the fact that you are hanging out on a tech forum proves that you are in a select group, and hang out with people that probably pay attention to this stuff.

The vast majority of people I see daily still have several year old phones, most not on the latest software. Not everyone cares enough to to pay attention to the tech and fashion news.

I get the standard mocking whenever I'm first to get a pre order. Even though my contract runs in cycles with the iPhone releases people always say 'Oh my god you've got it on the first day again'. It's actually no different to when they get they phones but hey ho.

Got the same treatment about the watch, but I expect it to be exactly the same as when I get my iPhones, the initial ridicule turns to people crowding round on that first day so they can take a look at it.

We went out to eat last night. The waiter spied my Apple Watch and wanted to buy it from me. I caught him looking at me later with a look that said, "I'm going to take your Apple Watch." He spent a lot of time at our table. It was kind of creepy.

That's a zero tip and possibly a letter to management... Tough getting that watch when you're out a job waiter boy/girl...

Nobody in public reacted to it, not even when I was using it in a very populated shopping mall or inside some stores.

Some friends saw it and reacted absolutely positive. Nobody was mocking me.

Good point... I too would definitely try and get someone fired for being envious of my watch.

People ask me if its "good" - it's hard to sell it to them as good when it may not be relevant to them ykwim? It's weird - I don't think the watch is for everyone, but it suits me great!

And out of curiosity... I've never been to Kauai (although I've been to Oahu, Maui, and the main island all several times... Maui is by far our favorite)... Curious if you would recommend it over Maui?

Absolutely. I can say that many agree that Kauai will ruin all of the other islands for you.:D It is against the law to build higher than a coconut palm so NO high rises. We get a lot of the jungle movies filmed here. The last Pirates of the Caribbean was largely here and they should start shooting the next one soon. Kauai is the most lush of the Islands. Most of the first Jurassic park movie was here and a lot of the one coming out soon. Mark Zuckerberg (facebook) spent over $100 million here last year. You never know when you will spot someone famous because they can be largely unbothered by locals. Another huge land owner here is Bette Midler. She is from Oahu and I hear she uses Kauai for her family retreats.

We ARE very country and small town feeling which is why I love it.

None.

I've been to a large grocery store, been out to eat, been to the gym, been to a couple other stores. I prefer it that way :)
