You must own one to understand. I suppose that's why you don't understand.

That doesn't dispute the fact that only a small portion of the population cares about watches. I mean I liked having a watch in college.. in the 90s but after I got out of college, I didn't see the point.

Small portion? I would say probably 6-7 out of 10 people Ive paid attention to around town wear a watch. Thats a lot more than a small portion.

That is a lot more than I see. I work for a large corporation and I probably see watches on 1 in 10 people. And even those that wear watches, how many of those do you think care about watches? My husband likes to wear a watch but he doesn't care about it other than it works and can be used on runs. I've only known 2 people who care about watches and that is because it is part of their social group.

I have never noticed watches on people until the Apple Watch was announced and at the point, the only ones I cared to pay attention to were other 'smart watches'. Someone could wave a Rolex in front of my face and I'd have no clue what it was Lol:) That said, I am the only person I know who ordered the watch and every person I've talked to has not even heard of it:( My dad has been doing his part tho, asking everyone with a watch that looks smart to him if it's an Apple Watch(he's been doing this for the past month, even tho I've tried to explain that it wasn't out yet) LOL..:D I was surprised at how many were ordered because I had gauged the interest at being a lot lower than it surprisingly was!

My wife doesn't like the attention she gets when we have new Apple stuff before everyone, so she covered hers up. Her friend asked her the time and she whipped it out and her friend went berserk. Oddly, the only question she asked was if I had gotten one too. She then went on to explain the price of the single watch, and the price of both watches together since I had one also (w/tax) and all of the features of the watch. She also broke down the fact that my wife got the "cheaper" aluminum version.

My kids think it is cool, especially the Jellyfish face.

My DH just rolls his eyes like he does with every Apple product I buy.

The guy at the check out at the grocery store was blown away when I used Apple Pay successfully.

That's about it.

I expect a lot of negative push back at work since most of them are Droid people who think smart watches are stupid. But that is fine.

Not public reaction, but most of my friends keep asking "Why didn't you get the Apple Watch, you always have new Apple stuff." Yeah, tell me about it... Processing....

nah. Beyonce has MILLIONS of followers. So does Drake, Karl Lagerfield, JJ Abrams, Katy Perry, Anna Wintour, & Sam Smith (even though he called it an iWatch lol). Millions also tune into the Voice every single week, so Pharrell's has been seen. Its been on almost every news channel, not to even mention the promo commercial & the 3 new commericals that just came out. Its been on some of the most popular websites, such as buzzfeed, the inquirer, vogue.com, forbes.com, wall street journal. Its been trending on twitter for so long as well. The Apple Watch is EVERYWHERE.

It may not be the talk of the town in your neighborhood, & there may not be that many walking as of yet, but there are an abundant of people who have seen the apple watch at least once by today.

It will be interesting to see how long Apple continues to pump millions and millions of dollars into getting attention for Apple Watch.

The beauty and benefit of the companies vast resources at this point, is their ability to buy success for any new product they build.

Apple has established a new dynamic, what becomes of it will be watched very closely by industry insiders.

I love my macbook pro, i love my iPhone 6 and i love my iPad. The Apple watch i have zero interest in. So if I ever did see one out in public it wouldn't get much interest from me either.

The idea of having to put your watch on charge every day just sucks, I have a Casio GBA 400. That will do me just fine :)

Then why are you trawling the apple watch forum? :D

It's like a vegan in butcher shop, claiming he doesn't like meat. :D

Or non-smoker in smoking room, claiming he hates people smoking. :D

There is only reason people do that, guess what? ;)

None really. My mates have been wanting to wear it, coupled with "I'm not getting one" and "What's the point?".

My advice is to hang out with less douchy mates.

Question: do you wear your watch when you're asleep? I guess you don't, right? Then why is it a problem to charge the Apple Watch every day? In fact, even if my iPhone lasts for two days, I naturally put it on the charger every night. So it makes no difference at all. Same with the Apple Watch.

Don't see why people should be complaining about having to charge a device every night.. Well, I don't have the Apple Watch yet, so I can't figure out what could be wrong with that... :p

I plan to wear mine while asleep. I'm hearing impaired, and this might be the first alarm that can rouse me!

I'll just take it off immediately on waking and charge it. By the time I'm out of the shower, it'll be ready for the day.

Actually, I'm hearing impaired too! :p

And I have tried getting waked up by a 'wearable' (the Xiaomi Mi Band), and it sometimes works and sometimes doesn't wake me up at all. Since Apple Watch presumably doesn't shake as hard as the Mi Band does, I doubt if it would wake me up.

However, I don't need one after all. I have a special alarm with a shaking buzzer. That thing can shake me out of my bed, haha. xD But it does work, and it will work MUCH better than the Apple Watch. Though I'd give the Apple Watch a try. Just to see if it works. :p

I'm just curious about any experiences you've had with people noticing your apple watch. On Friday & Saturday i was literally getting stopped in the street and had people coming up to me in bars (I assume this will only last for a few weeks max... hopefully!)

Most of the people were nice and just want to take a look or ask how i find it. Then you get the not so nice comments... funnily enough these conversations almost always start with "so how much did that cost then". And then i had 1 person yesterday who was just down right abusive.

What have your experiences been like

(Note: I have a 42 SS Classic)

I was picking up Chinese food and as I lifted the bag my watch lit up. The young hostess looks and suddenly goes "is that the iWatch? I said yes and another hostess came running "omg omg". So funny. Neither of them knew you could message and make phone calls with it. They thought it was just a watch and told the time. You'd think with so many ads people would get it.

Had a few co workers interested in it yesterday and had the family over today for my daughters birthday and they all wanted a demo.

One of my coworkers said he was jealous because he ordered a 42mm SS w/ Black Classic Buckle and got May 13-27th shipping.

People seem to think its pretty cool and a lot of people think it's the first smartwatches available. Shows how well the Android camp advertised their product.

Funny story, today I'm at the Starbucks drive thru and put my Watch out to be scanned to pay for my coffee, the barista reaches out to shake my hand. I then say, "No I'm using my watch to pay for the coffee". She then goes "I thought you were reaching out to shake my hand." She then goes on to say, "Is that the new Apple Watch?"

My first day, I went to work to pick up my paycheck, I'd been telling my coworkers about the Watch form about 7 months, so they were actually pretty interested in seeing what is was. I got some criticism from a random onlooker who works in the deli department because "he'd never spend $10,000 on a watch" I corrected him, that it's only the $350 watch, which was also criticized as too much, before I went into full annihilation mode on him, one of my friends explained that I saved up for months (cashier), and that I have the right to spend my money how I see fit. I used Pay to buy a money order (fu**ing bills) and confused the cashier, a customer was surprised too, and wanted to know what that was, another customer informed them that it was an "iPhone Watch". I gave them a quick overview, but at that point I had to go home. Along the way I answered a call on my wrist, which caught the attention of a passerby, who said I looked like a spy, they knew what it was though. I went out to eat, and I caught the waitress looking at me glancing at the Twitter trending topics. Later two men at the bar were discussing my watch (they were wearing Moto 360's) and thought it was funny that I would buy a watch that I "couldn't even customize". I slyly showed off the different watch faces to my dinner partner, loud enough for them to hear. I don't hear them again. As I was leaving a rather drunk patron recognized the Wacth and asked to try it on. I politely told them no, and reasoned that it needed to stay on my wrist to track my vitals. He bought that, while a drunken female patron asked if there was a pink one. I told her that there were a couple of pink bands for sale, and left.

My second day was rather uneventful, I was working and showed a couple fanboys it, they were surprised by how small it was. I explained that it suits me because I have smaller wrist, so 42mm was simply too big. I showed a woman what Pay was, and showed how Hey Siri worked.

My third day, I went for a run and happened to go to a park that had a festival going on. Each time I passed through, I had to slow down so I'd look at some Glances, or see my progress, which attracted attention from plenty of people, some knew what it was, but others though I had simply bought toy from on of the booths. Once I finished, I used Hey Siri to call my mother to tell her I was coming home, and someone ran over to see if it really would do what I told it to do. He asked me what it was, when I told him one of his friends heard, and came rushing over to examine it and see if it was really an Watch. Once I confirmed its authenticity, he completely geeked out and we talked for about an hour.

Tomorrow is my first day back at school and I have fully prepared for the onslaught of questions and curiosities over its function.

By far the funniest story on this thread! :D :D :D

Day one: Went to Subway to buy my usual and not a peep.
Day two: Bought some Starbucks and the barista said it was so cool. Went to Walgreens and the three cashiers hiding in the back were blown away. A few questions later I left.
Day three: Checking out at Home Depot, the cashier noticed the watch and commented, "It's not very good looking is it?" Sidenote, how do you even answer a question that's an insult? I could say somethings about her but there's no need for that.

I'm just happy to have Apple Pay be available on my wrist.

My wife is SO nervous about wearing hers at school tomorrow. The kids are going to instantly know!

I can't wait until I use Apple Pay for the first time! It'll blow them away!

Some of my co-workers do the same thing. They say "You spent how much on that stupid watch?" I replay the same way. I wanted it, I saved up for it, and I spend it how I want.

Tomorrow is also my first day back at school, and I know I'll be hammered with questions all day haha

Which model do you have?

As you might expect, the associates at the Apple Store were quite complimentary of my 38mm Stainless Steel with Classic Band as I purchased AppleCare+.

A few people at the gym have been scoping it out. On average, I feel that it fades into the sea of sports watches and fitness trackers in that environment. No one has outright approached me about it there, but it is probably a matter of time.

Outside of the gym, several people have noticed and made a big deal about it. I went to get a haircut and the stylist called it out very loudly immediately upon arrival. It was a steady parade of people coming over to see it during the haircut.

Most people are genuinely interested to see it and hear about my thoughts. Only one (rather rude) person exclaimed, "I'd never pay $400 for that!"

Apple Pay with the watch is definitely a crowd pleaser. People freak out. I've done it twice this weekend.

I haven't really received much of a reaction, but I haven't paid much attention either. Today I was asked if it was an Apple Watch and how much I paid. I answered "yes" and completely ignored the second question.

Small portion? I would say probably 6-7 out of 10 people Ive paid attention to around town wear a watch. Thats a lot more than a small portion.

In 25 years (your quote) how many of them will still wear traditional watch?
