I love reading all of these different reactions!! :) Still patiently waiting for mine, SG chillin in the May bracket. #

Looks like we may be waiting for a while. I am in the same bracket and apparently the SG bands have been malfunctioning. Peeling the plastic back. This is going to be a long four weeks.

When I paid with my watch the cashier at Whole Foods looked nonplussed and said "what just happened?" The Baristas at Starbucks all rushed over when I used my watch on Friday afternoon. On Sunday two others ahead of me in another Starbucks used their watch so the cashier was unfazed. Apple pay on the watch is great!

Question: do you wear your watch when you're asleep? I guess you don't, right? Then why is it a problem to charge the Apple Watch every day? In fact, even if my iPhone lasts for two days, I naturally put it on the charger every night. So it makes no difference at all. Same with the Apple Watch.

Don't see why people should be complaining about having to charge a device every night.. Well, I don't have the Apple Watch yet, so I can't figure out what could be wrong with that... :p

How about going camping? how about if you're out out and about late at night? How about when you FORGOT to charge the watch at night--- it'd be nice to wake up and see that it still has juice to last through at least half of your work day. That's how I feel about my phone, so why not your watch?

I am assuming that you're talking about fiddling around with your watch, because I don't think Startbucks stores have any NFC terminal at this time. Unless, I'm wrong and that'd be amazing.

LOL.

The perfect AW thread. "What to others think of me with my AW on?"

So sad. :apple:

Typically I might agree with your sentiment. In this case, it is probably a pretty valid topic of conversation. There is a very limited quantity of a hot new product that is worn on the wrist. It is interesting to gauge if the general public is aware and what their reaction to it is. I think most of us are more interested in what it signals for the success of the product than the vanity aspect.

You have a funny definition of "zero interest" if you are not only surfing the forum but taking time out of your day to post that you don't have interest

Your post sounds more like excuses to not have one than actual lack of interest. Maybe you can't afford one so you are tying to justify why it's *smart* to not have one  (especially when you make a point to list the items you do have as some sort of brag list)

I'm not sure why you are so strangely defensive about someone not having interest on the Apple Watch.

You know who the android users are when they see your watch and look at you in scorn and a bit of envy. :p

Personally, I hope no one notices my watch. I don't like the attention. I bought it for my own personal enjoyment. lol

This is a good point, you don't want to get attention from crooks on the street who are technologically savvy who know that a Gold Apple Watch is quite a bit more expensive than a Gold iPhone.

Haha, I've been to highschool with it and they we're almost all surprised how it turns on when raising wrist.

I love this fame

You can put your Starbucks card into Passbook and use it on the Watch to pay.

Valid. However, I disagree with the majority being interested in the functionality.
Based on Apple's scrambling to set up "Set Up" sessions for people who have very limited exposure to functions other than Texting, and Talking. :apple:

Antiques of the past? You should probably look at the list of best selling watches last year and years prior. All of those makers are on that list. I know this is an Apple forum and we love our tech but seriously, an Apple Watch is a toy compared to those brands I mentioned above. The Watch is what it is, a cool new piece of tech for tech lovers and Apple fans but thats about it. Also, your Apple Watch will be a thing of the past in a year when the new one is out , anyone still lust after first gen iPhones, iPods or iPads? Those are only a handful of years old and already irrelevant. A Rolex, Cartier, Jaeger etc...hold their values incredibly well and will still be relevant and lusted after 25 years from now. Its not even a comparison.

The losing side usually does become defensive.

The Apple Watch is the future. The traditional mechanical watch is an anachronism, and has been for decades. No one is going to aspire to such old, useless tech.

You say the Apple Watch will be out of date in a year? Even in 20 years it will do more than any mechanical watch.

I think your are missing what a quality watch represents in modern society.

Let me put it another way, if Apple launches an apple car, do you believe the likes of BMW, Mercedes, rolls Royce will lose sales ?? People who buy high end watches are in the same position.

I have never seen people walk up to someone they didn't know asking to see their iPhone, iPad, or Apple Watch. You all must live in some extremely friendly parts of the world.

So you are saying a wealthy, successful business man is going to aspire to buy an Apple Watch over a high end Rolex? LMAO!!!! wait, let me catch my breath...LMAO!!!! Some of you are straight up delusional.

I ordered an Edition, sold a bvlgari and my Submariner is going to be gathering dust from now on.

No, they're not. Those cars are all modern. The old, clunky, poor-performing mechanical watches are not. They are a throwback to an era that has just entered its death throes.

Who's going to "aspire" to a piece of ancient tech? "Gee, I want to spend thousands of dollars on a watch that can barely tell time!"

Nope. Only superficial, "style over substance" people will want such toys.

Mostly very good reactions. The worst I've had is a minor snide comment about how it's not good enough until it replaces the phone by taking a sim.

Fair comment to make, but completely missing the entire point of why apple made the watch in the first place.

Otherwise, I've genuinely had nothing but phenomenal opinions from both people that love apple to people that despise them. My colleague, who hates everything apple do, had nothing but a profound appreciation for the sheer quality of the watch and the effort apple have put into building it.

The internal combustion engine is very much still going strong ;)

Sorry you clearly don't understand what a quality mechanical watch means and why smart watches will not impact those sales. Looking at a blank screen on someone's wrist.... Think about it

Just went to the apple store (of course) to pickup another cable. The guys were cheezing when they saw the SG42; I don't think it was the watch itself but rather the "omg a real life customer is using our product we're making an impact" thought. I completely forgot to add AppleCare so i'll have to be back on a busy weekend to make that happen.

Otherwise I got some looks from mallgoers and a few cashiers in the know. Some were actually staring at my wrist. I made no effort to show it off or anything("oh yes this is the new apple watch"); i think it looks very discreet but apparently not.
