None really. My mates have been wanting to wear it, coupled with "I'm not getting one" and "What's the point?".

The woman at Starbucks smiled when I used it to get a coffee. I think I was her first ;)

A bit smitten with the barrista where ya? :)

Actually, I'm hearing impaired too! :p

And I have tried getting waked up by a 'wearable' (the Xiaomi Mi Band), and it sometimes works and sometimes doesn't wake me up at all. Since Apple Watch presumably doesn't shake as hard as the Mi Band does, I doubt if it would wake me up.

However, I don't need one after all. I have a special alarm with a shaking buzzer. That thing can shake me out of my bed, haha. xD But it does work, and it will work MUCH better than the Apple Watch. Though I'd give the Apple Watch a try. Just to see if it works. :p

First, howdy! I'm looking forward to hearing (in a manner of speaking :roll eyes:) how you do with this.

The key, IMHO, will be to use the taptic interface frequently, so that your brain learns to pay attention to it. Then it might work to wake you even if the tapping is gentle.

Or maybe not! You (and we here in the peanut gallery) won't know until you give it a fair try.

Then why did you say "everywhere?"

You also said an "abundant" amount of people which implies "most" which simply isn't the case.

It was a number to simply show perspective on the numbers.

If you didn't get that then it is you with "minuscule and short sighted things".

Especially if you think immediately turning to personal insults your perspective of "everywhere" is challenged. A perspective that you detailed out as including tabloid/daytime TV/Twitter and entertainment news publications.(yes, I consider the WSJ and Forbes as part of our entertainment media these days. They leave out so many facts it's comical.

I only included the "business person" to address the segment you were covering by including WSJ/Forbes. It wasn't an absolute or any other type of comparison to your "average person" that you seem to think ALL of follow TV drama, ads, social media.

Guess what? The vast majority still spend more time doing things that sitting around reading tabloids, Talk shows and Twitter.

I'm sure that many people hve heard of it. But I'd say that there is a huge number that haven't. Just the fact that you are hanging out on a tech forum proves that you are in a select group, and hang out with people that probably pay attention to this stuff.

The vast majority of people I see daily still have several year old phones, most not on the latest software. Not everyone cares enough to to pay attention to the tech and fashion news.

This side convo has gotten a bit analytical it seems, maybe it varies by geography but I don't know anyone who doesn't have either an android or iohone and I don't recall the last time I was out in the wild and saw a non smartphone and I can't imagine the majority of people in my area at least being unaware of apple, iPhone, android, apple watch or any other pop culture technology.

Not sure it's related to people "caring" as much as these devices have become a commodity for the most part. I mean, tablets outsell laptops and desktops by a wide margin I think... These aren't rare devices for the tech elite anymore, my parents have them, grandparents have them.... They may not be the first to have the watch, but they're not unaware of their existence.

I can only speak to my own experience, metro boston and into the wilds of New England. Maybe in Kentucky they've never heard of the apple watch, I don't know... As an earlier poster said, it seems apple has done a decent job of product placement to get noticed across several different demographics. Not really sure that point can be effectively argued against....

I love my macbook pro, i love my iPhone 6 and i love my iPad. The Apple watch i have zero interest in. So if I ever did see one out in public it wouldn't get much interest from me either.

The idea of having to put your watch on charge every day just sucks, I have a Casio GBA 400. That will do me just fine :)

If you have no interest in the watch why are you on the watch forum? Just wondering...

Well tomorrow will be the first day i take the watch out in public. Also the first time ill use it for a run at 4am. Will see how the battery hold up all the way to 6 pm.

Will shall see if it goes noticed

None.

I've been to a large grocery store, been out to eat, been to the gym, been to a couple other stores. I prefer it that way :)

I wonder how much (unwanted) attention the people who own the "top of the line" are getting?
I'm waiting to see them on the news . . . . mugged, robbed . . .
After all I have seen reports of people being robbed for athletic shoes.
"Just saying"

Just got a thought . . .
Yes, I'm in the May delivery window. Anyhow I'm going to wear my iPad Nano just to see how many uninformed people mistake it for an Apple Watch. Yeah, I know . . . I have a sick sense of humor. Hope I'm not the first one to appear on the eleven o'clock news. LOL

No one has said any thing :). That will definitely change tommorow at high school. Like I want to deal with everyone asking to try it on...

Attractive girl: Is that the Apple Watch???!!!?!!

Me: Yeah, put your number in it.

Attractive girl: Ok!

It'll happen :p.

Hopefully it will happen to me :D

I haven't really received much of a reaction, but I haven't paid much attention either. Today I was asked if it was an Apple Watch and how much I paid. I answered "yes" and completely ignored the second question.

I HATE that. Everyone at my job knows I'm an Apple lover so of course they ask me if I ordered one and then their second question is usually "How much did you pay?" None of your business. Go on Apple's website if you want to know how much they are.

In 25 years (your quote) how many of them will still wear traditional watch?

Remember when cell phones came out with stopwatches and timers and world clocks all those years back and some foolish people thought people would stop wearing traditional watches since your phone could do it all now? Yeah, no. Quality, traditional watches will never go out of style.

It can have a renaissance period like vinyl that's for sure but it will never be the same (like vinyl has never been the same since the digital music comes). It's hard to predict the future but in 25 years time it's more likely will be restricted to just a small set of collectors. Time they are a changing.

Sorry but something like a high end Rolex, Montblanc, Jaeger, Bulgari is a status symbol. Like a high end Mercedes, Range Rover or Bentley. Saying they will be replaced by digital watches running a gimped version of iOS is about as silly as saying Range Rovers, Bentleys and Benzs will be replaced by a Chevy Volt or a Prius because everyone is going green in the future. It's absurd.

It's absurd because the comparison itself is absurd. Now just imagine if all these luxury cars don't evolve. In 25 years time they are all still using gasoline while all other cars are all electric and electronic and even driverless. Do you still think they have a chance to compete? Hell no.
Likewise to traditional watch. Evolve or die. That's the name of the game.

I wonder how long before the thieves start to notice them. Is there a find my iWatch feature? I own a Tag, but from a distance it could just be a $80 fossil stainless steel watch. The bright colored bands seem like they are just inviting theft....I guess we shall see.

This was partly my incentive for ordering the stealthy space gray model. #

Ahh jus wish I could undastand all dem words you typed up but I'm from Kentucky so as you can plainly tell I don't reads very good. Is dis a traila park bulliten board or have I lost mine way? All this talk of apples is in making me hungry.

Had 2 women ask to send me their heartbeats, had to turn one down. Can't provide more detail about the second, sorry. This is a family-friendly forum.

It's defiantly a head turner at my gym. As I walk around the gym people keep looking at the watch like "is that really the watch"

Somebody creepy was shouting behind me at a grocery store "You have an iWatch". I was scared so I stopped and checked my heartbeat.
