It's a gimmick that gives you a general idea. It's not meant to be a medical grade device. So in this sense, Masimo is in the wrong as Apple does not make medical grade devices. This is how I view it.Depends on elevation. I live in Boulder, CO.

If Masimo don’t like it they should build their own watch.
Inb4 the usual suspects.
So this is what Apple is nowadays: a company that dries up smaller promising companies and that steal their IP, while wanting to be seen as a distuptive pro-environment pro-lgbt company that want to make the world a better place. This is just clowning of course, they just want everyone's money. They are even ready to kill companies that work with their platform (Tiles, fitness apps, music and movies/series streaming apps, banks... next what). That's pathetic that they act so agressively, they even sue companies that have a fruit shaped logo... and want to look like the good guys
Companies exist to turn a profit no matter what they sell. Business is not about your feelings.Honestly, I don't care about the Trade Secrets up for debate here. From my perspective, Apple brought potentially life saving tech to the masses at an affordable price. Can we please stop worrying about profits with life saving products?
If the apple watch saves someone life because of this, its well worth it IMO.
Go ahead and call BS on these people.

For these people, the Apple Watch changed their lives.www.cnet.com
It's can't be that hard to understand that it might get people to go see a doctor before it's critical. That's how lives are saved. Blows one's mind, right?
You must be an employee to talk like that. But yes let's goliath kill everyone. We're only years ahead from Apple selling iFood after suffocating vegetables producers.Well everything you’ve described above are PERFECTLY LEGAL. I see no basis for litigations there.
As a tech company they do license a ton of patents from various companies (look at your legal info on apple devices). Wonder if the technologies in question fall under someone else’s license or similar?
If Masimo is worried about Apple trying to sell these as Medical grade products, I think their logic is flawed. I don’t think Masimo, Medtronic, or similar companies have anything to worry about. I don’t see us getting an iPaddle™ defib attachment to our watch anytime soon.
I don't have all the facts regarding each of your claims of malfeasance, so I'll leave that to the (better-educated-in-the-law-than-me) judges to decide.
But is it possible that the alternative is also true? That Apple is actually trying to make the world better while making money?
The two don't have to be mutually exclusive.
I guess I'm just not ready to be that cynical with Apple yet, given the fact that I judge people (and companies) based on what they (actually) do, not on what they say (they're going to do).
This is no doubt worthy of looking into by the appropriate authorities.
Wrong thread but, Apple is correct. It won’t work on beta.Received my Series 6 yesterday and I'm running Beta of OS 14 on my iPhone and Apple support said that the Blood O2 won't work on the beta currently and only works on 14.0.1....
Has anyone else had this issue?

I see no issue with Apple's arguments regarding that case.![]()

I see the word wellness thrown around all the time. What the heck does it even mean? Especially in the context of this blood oxygen sensor. From Apple's Watch website:
"Blood Oxygen app measurements are not intended for medical use, including self-diagnosis or consultation with a doctor, and are only designed for general fitness and wellness purposes."
Correct. You have to downgrade to 14.0.1.Received my Series 6 yesterday and I'm running Beta of OS 14 on my iPhone and Apple support said that the Blood O2 won't work on the beta currently and only works on 14.0.1....

So basically a meaningless word. It sure feels like tech companies are just throwing sensors into devices because they feel they have to update these devices every year and need something new to sell the device. Either the data coming from these sensors is meaningful or it’s not. And if it’s not what’s the point of it?It means they didn’t feel like going through the FDA approvals to to be able to say it’s for medical purposes.
That just means you can track the stats it provides but, you should not make any medical decisions based on any reading from the device. As with all data, one should consult his or her physician for confirmation of any reading from a wellness device.I see the word wellness thrown around all the time. What the heck does it even mean?
