I have an iPhone 4 running on 4.0.1, JB with www.jailbreakme.com and unlocked with Ultrasnow. How do I proceed to 4.1 while keeping the jb/unlock?
weird, that msj means you don't have root access permission to the system!
try this: can yo go to cydia under: /Private/Var/Stash/Applications/Cydia.... then locate (Cydia_) and set permission to 4777 and it should be good to go.
Also, you should also download pwnage from another mirror if you are trying to create the custom fw again:http://blog.iphone-dev.org/

Anyone know what the new 4.1.1 version changed?
the update as far as I know was for the issue with the DFU function on 10.5 Leopard...Damn that's aggravating that they update pwnagetool and didn't post what changed. Usually they do when they do this. There is no discussion on the dev team blog about the differences either.
Okay, looks like it is still bugged for the ATV2G
If you don't like it don't use it or wait a couple of days after release; they have to make sure that PT works w/ a BUNCH of devices this time around, so it's bound to have some problems here and there, their programs are free and they release updates quickly to fix the problems.Team updated the program again! PwnageTool is now version 4.1.2. These guys are getting as bad as the tinyumbrella updates...
Hi guys - JB newbie here. Hope someone can help. Planing to use Pwnage Tool 4.1.1 (or 2 or whatever latest update is!). When I get to the part that says about is your iphone on contract activated thru iTunes - well here's where I need some help. I have an iphone 3gs which was originally a contract phone (O2 UK) but when the contract ran its term they unlocked the phone for me to use on any network. I still use O2 as it happens but on a monthly PAYG (Simplicity tariff).
So.. is my phone activated by iTunes yes or no? Which button to click?
I presume once jailbroken I can download apps thru the Cydia app that is included in the jailbreak?
Thanks guys

I ended up using Limera1n to get Cydia to work, it works like a charm. I have no idea what was going on with PwnageTool jailbreak. But I do have a question, I'm I suppose to have the green rain drop on my phone after Limera1n, I saw it during the process of jailbreaking but it wasn't there after rebooting my iPhone. How can I tell which jailbreak I have on my phone??
You're quite fortunate that O2 unlocked the phone for you, I wouldn't expect them to do that.
I'd love to help with your query, but the worry which crops up is will the restore (regardless of what you do in PT) get rid of O2's unlock? I can't help you there, because if it does, that means your, well, screwed. I can't give you a definite answer.
Personally, I'd just click no, the probability of the unlock being there is probably higher.
Sorry I can't give you a clear answer mate, I hope somebody else can.
