Many thanks. I paid the $99 and sent my timetable and stuff. Awaiting approval and then I can finally get my C2D MBP. I can alsmot feel it ...

No problem :D

It took less than 24 hours for them to approve me; I was very happy with the fast service :)

Could anyone do me a favour and check how much off a Mac Pro (stock) and 23" and 30" displays are in the UK ADC store? My student rate is already pretty a big saving, stock is 1427, down from the normal 1699 so I'm not sure how much extra I'd save.

And, yeah, you need to be 18. I wasn't 18 until my sophomore year, so I understand where you're coming from. I suspect it's a legal requirement, not an arbitrary age.

It is a legal requirement. As member of ADC, you may receive information that is not publicly available (even if 100,000 ADC members know it, it is not public information) and that you are not allowed to tell anybody. There can be consequences - like some kid found out who thought it is a clever idea to post a prerelease version of Tiger on the Internet. However, if you are not 18, then Apple could not hold you legally responsible for things like that. Which means unfortunately that you cannot join ADC until you are eighteen.

Here is the link so you can do it yourself: link. From here click on "ADC Hardware Purchase Program Store." It's the first link in the first paragraph.

Nuc

edit. I see that your in Australia. Oh well try to search the same for the Australia site...

edit #2: link. Click on "Australia ADC Hardware Purchase Program Store."

Nuc - Thanks for the links, my info is out of date, I'm london based these days. Problem is the Europe page just directs you to the normal stores!

Just a quick question: Are there any UK ADC Student or Danish ADC Students here?

I was considering buying a mac pro in the UK (its cheaper) but I will be studying at a danish universty. is that possible?

shouldn't be any problem at all.

by the way, i was amazed at how quick they verified my student status. bought a student membership on friday at 4pm, faxed in my info, and at 5:45 it was verified and ready to go :)

If you purchase a Mac as an ADC Student member, do you also get the free extended Applecare that students get? That'd be a great deal X 2.

Not currently taking classes

I am a student, but I'm not currently taking classes because I'm doing an internship, can I still get ADC student?

Also, do they really call the school and check? That seems bizarre.

Is your internship just for this semester? I'd wait until you have your schedule for next semester when you will be taking classes before trying.. You have to submit either your current schedule or upcoming one, and I'd bet you have to be taking classes to get verified.

all i had to submit was the student administration listing of the units I am enrolled in this semester, and my student ID... application approved in <2 hrs ---> 20% discount on MBP :D

Students do not get free extended Applecare. It still costs $239 for Applecare on a MBP.

And on the ADC Store, Applecare for MBP is $349

so if you use the ADC Discount, don't get Applecare...

I was just very confused by your terminology, lol. Much different here in the US!

Did people who applied for the ADC Student Store have to send in both a copy of their school ID AND their schedule, or is the ID on its own okay?

I think you're going to have to send them more than just an ID...they need to see that you're enrolled this semester.
