here is kinda universal version, it dumps bios from legacy memory space, so it will not work on macs, only hackintoshes (for now macpro will need bios image in plist)

so, use it only with hackintoshes, cards to test is 5870/5850/5970

I can confirm I am getting some problems now that I have installed these kexts to enable QE/CI:

ATIRadeonX3000.kext
ATIRadeonX3000GA.plugin
ATIRadeonX3000GLDriver.bundle

Whenever I use a 'lot' of QE/CI i start to glitch. Sometimes my screen goes white, sometimes I get purple lines. Sometimes both monitors go, sometimes one. Sometimes the computer freezes, sometimes not.

What is your card?

There is one framebuffer I left untested. It is possible that certain cards may still require different framebuffers, in which case a wider testing group needs to be involved (especially for 5770's and 5850's).

Netkas seems to have gotten BIOS dumping working though, so ALMOST ALL ATI 5**0 series cards should work without a hitch.

Did you install all of

ATIRadeonX3000.kext
ATIRadeonX3000GA.plugin
ATIRadeonX3000GLDriver.bundle

?

yes.. all at once.. my card is also sapphire game edition 1 GB

The difference probably is that mine is watercooled... check temperatures.. thow i don't think that's an issue

there is also ATIRadeonX3000VADriver.bundle

for video playback

Netkas, that new aty_init you posted worked perfectly. I was able to run the openGL test with no glitches. You are truley a god amongst men.

I noticed in other peoples screenshots and my own test that no one passes test 3.0 ? Why is this?

http://img143.imageshack.us/img143/2110/screenshot20100703at221.png

bcz 3.0 isnt supported by apple yet.

Test plz with multisample option checked and set to 4

and anisotripy option checked and set to 15

also set benchmark option.

netkas how do you write this kext-files? Assembler, (Objective-)C or what?

Rominator, try to kextload atiradeonX3000.kext manualy when booted, maybe smth wrong with it, so you will know.

OK, by using 5870 only with NO displays connected I was able to see this from Macbook.

Next I am going to try using Macbook via firewire s startup drive since I never use it to test stuff, a "virgin" system.

With no displays connected it boots up and 3000 is loaded.

Attaching displays AFTER boot doesn't do anything, even with "Detect Displays" hit.

If the displays are connected at boot, it loads a messy set of screens, lots of squares and SLOW drawing of more squares.

Did a dump from it while booted with no displays, will attach.

If we're sharing the same settings, then according to OGLEV...the 5870 is half again as fast as a GTX 285, at least on 10.6.3.

JESUS.

indeed

doesn't load if a display connected

loads without one but then won't detect

results verified via startup from unfiddled-with Macbook HD.

dump is from when no displays connected and 3000 DID load.

looks like you need to remove atiradeonx2000.kext first.

could be wrong tho.
