Radeon HD 5800 and MacPro

Guys on macpro, try Eulemur instead of Uakari

just replace every word Uakari by Eulemur in Info.plist of ATY_init .kext, then reinstall kext.

I try to install my 5770 on a TV screen with HDMI and :

your ATY_Init.Kext with 5700 item

AND in my S/L/E :

PS : it is for my hackintosh core i5 750 on Asus P7P55D Premium with Sapphire VAPOR-X HD 5770 - 1 Go HDMI/Dual DVI
Snow installed with the help of iPortable Snow x86 Installer & iPortable Bootfix and OSInstall.mpkg and updated in 10.6.4 OK
 
Someone at macbidouille said they had a radeon 5XXX card working in a Mac Pro.
It's unclear if they managed to get 3D acceleration though.
I'll keep you updated.

The benchmark probably ran in software mode. Exposé shouldn't be very smooth either. What about quicktime videos?

You may need to reinstall the extensions with kext helper. But Netkas and the Rominator would know better.

Reinstalled all with Kext Helper 0.7(all in a go). Rederer is still Software. Do you know how to fix?

I wonder I wonder... looks like 5870 is close for Mac Pro, shipping on 4870 is now 3 weeks on applestore, and it's been removed completely from singapore apple store.

Does your GPU fan just start running at full speed?

Also, when you said "your ATY_Init.Kext with 5700 item", what do you mean '5700 item'? Don't you just install that kext to S/L/E?

How important is the graphics enabler option? The string for mine is set to 'yes'.

EDIT: I'm forcing the boot to 32-bit with x-32, but still no avail.
 
To 5750 owners:

I can confirm it's working :)

Before all I got was a messed up screen just like Rominator.

Downloaded the drivers and aty_init from netkas' website;

I had to add devid 68BE to ati5000controller.kext , I also replaced the Uakari framebuffer to Eulemur in the aty_init's info.plist.

Only one port is working, however (the bottom DVI one), but I can totally live with that, never had a dual monitor setup and never will :)

Eniu, are you running OS X 10.6.4?
Check system profiler to see if the ATI 5000 controler and X3000 extensions are loaded.

I can tell you that despite them saying it is with a Vapor-X, that is MY screen shot.

I wrote them yesterday explaining that their story had missed a few salient points.

Gonna try the Eulameur fix next.

Fingers crossed.

Pharos...(and others who have good results)...is that a HACK or a MAC?
 
I too notified Lionel that the report was inaccurate. But he may have other contacts and know something we don't.
One forum member said he had the card working in a Mac Pro. Don't know if he could leverage 3D acceleration.

Yes I'am. System Profiler screen attached. OMFG Screen just white xD I'll update it...
Updated: Can't take screenshots with Apple + Shift + 4 and then Space... lol

Not all X3000 extensions are there. I think you should see all those listed in the first post.

EDIT: scratch that. Not all the extensions appear on my Mac Pro (4870).

No, I can confirm the report is somehow inaccurate, Lionel says it "nearly" work, but he did not say that QE/CI was missing. And for the user post in forum, i'm fairly sure it was in VEAS mode.

I will ask Lionel to update his news with more details, or ask for his permission to do it. Sorry for the inaccurate informations...

rest of X3000 are not extensions, but userspace bundles.
 
HIS 5870 installed a few times now, only worked with QE/CI once though but that was probably my error.

What are the chances of this becoming 64 bit compatible in the future?

I got an error like ATY_Init: Device not posted. I'll take a pic and upload it. Before I do I'll reinstall the x3000 kext's.

This maybe cause I've Black-Edition?

EDIT: How to install .bundle and .plugin files?

I have tried this on 2 separate 10.6.4 installs

In System Profiler card seems to be working, the x3000 kext is loaded, but none of 4 display ports works.

Will reinstall 10.6.4 update and try again.

Any other names looking good?

such output from aty_init is ok.
 
Hey i guys I m new to the forum and I am gonna install sl 10.6.4 on my pc, and I m not sure about the 5770 support, because I have a 512mb Sapphire Radeon HD5770 instead of the 1GB one, so does that make a difference?
 
Someone knows how to get OpenGL Renderer from Software to GraphicCard? SystemProfiler attached in post 184, OpenGL ExtensionViewer attached in Post 179.

I'm curious, does screen sharing work normally when the display is connected to the 5870?

Read through my posts in this thread.

Meanwhile. I am going to try ALL of the Framebuffer options.

Ulalume (or whatever it was, I spelled it right in aty) resulted in no display, but all kexts seemed to have loaded properly

I have now tried "Zonalis"...same messy display but ONLY on upper DVI port. Nothing on lower. Displayport and HDMI also seem nonfunctional.

When I say "upper" I mean the DVI port that is by itself, next to fan outlet

The lower port is the one by HDMI and DP.
