How often do you see the back of your display?
Not often, but I don’t think Apple are making products for people that don’t care what it looks like from the back. They make products for people who care about a product’s appearance from every angle.

that looks gross. never mind cutting off the chin and slapping it on the back is entirely obvious. and I'm sure was considered and rejected. ...because it looks gross

I don't think the chin is really that big of a deal. I'm not a fan of the colors of the chin myself. The pastels are not great compared to the bold colors of the back.

Besides the colour scheme (darker colour on front would look better), I don't mind the chin. Apple still wants to maintain its unique look.

Now come on Tim, bring back the 27-inch iMac or make it 32!

I hate the white bezel on the iMac. I will never buy an iMac with a white bezel. Never. The colors aren't so great either.

It’s pretty obvious based on the tear downs that the reason for the chin is a place where the logic board and cooling systems can live without being exposed to the heat from the display.

I repaired iMacs in the past and to understand Apple’s external designs you must understand the internal design first.

Apple should never get rid of the chin, and I don’t think they ever will.
Agree. This seems to be an exercise in "look at me and what I can do!"

I am not a fan of these projects or renderings dreamed up by graphic designers with too much time and websites with space to fill.

I’ve had a better idea for years. Just make a Mac Mini the stand, with a MagSafe port on top (with iPad-like data pins) for the display to attach.

I understand wanting to do away with the bezel on a phone to reduce size or maximize the screen. Having a chin on a desktop computer doesn't bother me in the least. Either way, it doesn't fit in my pocket.

Tbh I don't mind a "chin" on my iMac. If such a chin bothers you, I'd say you have larger issues at hand

I prefer the chin. I have a tendency to stash a lot of stuff beneath the monitor and I like some stuff can be piled there without contrasting with the screen.
