Radio Shack iPhone 5 pre order

make sure to check out the app BABY CONNECT. We've used it for both our kids to track feedings, sleepings, diapers, etc. It's a bit pricy (@ $4.99), but I've put it on all of our devices and on phones of caretakers.
Wow, this thread is so 50/50.
Half of us were told that our phones would definitely be covered tomorrow, and the other half of us were told that they're not even sure how many phones they're getting in. That makes me nervous. Maybe all radio shacks aren't created equal?
I want to call Radio Shack so bad, but I used to work in retail and I have this fear of being "that guy (girl)".
"That girl" who questioned us before she came and preordered, and then during, and then called the day before.

Well, stopped by Radio Shack to check in about tomorrow and my pre-order. Was told that they pre-ordered two black 32GB iPhones and got only one, and I was the second guy, so...looks like I'm not getting one tomorrow. On top of it they say they're not sure when they'll have more and could be two weeks out.
I'm pretty miffed since what's the point of "pre-ordering" if they don't get what they ordered? (And its not like the other guy isn't going to come in and get his, so I have no hope right now).

I guess some radioshacks don't know how to do the preorder?
It's baffling to me that so many are having issues.
Unless something changed from last night, then I assume we received all of ours today and will sell all of them as planned tomorrow.

Well last year i was manager of a Radio shack. We had at least 6 preorders and only received 3 of them.
For my customers i drove to another store and got some transferred to take care of my customers but most managers wont do that. We'll see if they got their act together this year but I highly doubt it.
Rumor is they almost didn't take any preorders this year because of last years debacle.

i keep hearing the same thing from associates at a few different radio shacks..."we don't know how many we're getting. we'll call you if we have any for walk-ins."
I may go camp out tonight at Apple. I am still kicking myself for falling asleep and waking up at 4am. I am traveling for a bit so I want to get this all done before next tuesday.

Got a quick question. When I called to see if they my order came and and he gave me an appointment to come in, he already said that he had a few 10 o clock ones. Now.. if I happen to go over there at 11 and he says there are no more iPhones. What can I do about this? or am i just thinking out of the box here and that this wont happen.
Oh if you got a call then they have yours set a side and won't be selling it.

I'm guessing they didn't preorder from Apple but rather from RS corporate. I had thought (and I could be wrong) that Apple tells resellers how many they are getting and then they have to figure out how to distribute to their stores. It is sad to say that I just wouldn't trust Radioshack or anyone that guaranteed an in-store pre-order. Even the Best Buy people (and I'm guessing Best Buy gets a lot more phones than Radioshack) are saying that Best Buy seems to be short on phones for pre-orders they took.
Just called the RS I PO'd with - they said they received their shipment today and should be calling us with a time to come pick them up within the next hour.
I find it funny that they answer with "home of the iPhone 5" when so many people are struggling to figure out what's going on with their processes.

This was my first try through them. But Apple had me with a delivery of 10/5 when I ordered through them at 6:30am on launch day, so it seemed very likely RS would have one in before then.
No matter how you slice it, pretty much everyone got boned this year due to the crazy demand for the device. Oh well, trying to not get worked up about it. Nothing I can do but mug the guy that will be getting his phone from my store...JK.

The manager told me that they got a shipment today but it was only for 16gb, i ordered a 32gb. He also said that they are getting another shipment tomorrow morning before the store opens and if that has 32gb iphones then ill be getting mine tomorrow. Just wanted to share that info with u all.

RS just called and told me that I won't be getting my phone tomorrow. That only preorders made last Friday were going to be filled. I preordered Saturday morning. So much for that! I asked when the next batch were going to arrive and he said he had no clue.
That's crap. I even ordered on Friday at like 1pm (was like the 10th person total) and I'm still not getting mine totmorrow.
I will be making their lives extremely difficult over the coming weeks...
The guy didn't give you an attitude. He gave you an answer. One you didn't like because it was the truth.
Get a clue and get over yourself. Lots of folks with issue and far larger than this.
There is "attitude" and then there is attitude. Your post especially telling me off and rolling your eye is "attitude".
What I was referring to is the attitude that RS can promise the customer one thing and then when it is time to deliver on the promise, RS can backtrack and feign ignorance. Not cool in my books considering they essentially have a non-refundable deposit in the way of a gift card.
And you are right - there are folks with larger issues than this. But then again, we are discussing the iPhone 5 on the Macrumors forum, not on a website called Sudanrumors.com

Radio Shack didn't promise anything. The big giant print out that they handed you with your pre-order specifically says that you are not guaranteed a phone by any date and that due to high demand it may take weeks to receive your phone.
As a general rule you should probably read things before you sign them. Just a heads up so that you don't end up signing 18% car loans some day.
