Radio Shack iPhone 5 pre order

It's funny to me how "obsessive" I have become with this damn i5. haha

Like I don't NEED it this Friday. My phone works fine (sorta). I just really REALLY want it Friday. More along the lines of I don't want all my friends / family / online reviews to ruin the appeal of it. I would like to find some stuff out myself :D.

Either way though, if I'm not able to get my phone this Friday from RS, I will still just wait till they get any in stock. I'm not going to go around out of my way spending $10 on gas to find one in stock. Trading in my phone + the $10 gift card I received for signing up with their email program is enough for me to wait and save the money.
 
I was just thinking this way two days ago as I rushed to Radio Shack to put in my preorder. I've really gone overboard this time. I never care about a phone like this. I got the i4 about a month after it was released. I was in no hurry. I guess because that was my first iPhone Ive just been a huge fan ever since. Plus this is my first upgrade since I got the phone. Its a mixture of fandom and pure restlessness.
 
My wife is about to give birth and I am hoping it happens after Friday so I can have time to go run the store in the morning. It's a disease we all have and I can't figure out how to cure it!

Slippery slope. Welcom to the Cult. Next year you will be at the 5th Ave store 3 weeks early looking like a homeless person when you finally get your iPhone 6 or 5S.

My wife gave birth on the day of the Ipad 2 release. I was planning on waiting in line and buying it for her as a surprise after the baby was born as her C-Section was scheduled for the following wednesday. They ended up having to do the C-Section early because her amniotic fluid was low. It was a pain getting an ipad 2 as they were all sold out for some time. I got one several days later by camping the Target inventory system and picking one up that way.

That happened to us and the iPhone 4. I had preordered -- and the phone and my daughter arrived the same day, June 22. UPS attempted delivery twice the first 24 hours, but we were at the hospital and couldn't sign for it. I eventually left during "quiet time" to pick them up in person at the UPS location. I have a great memory of sitting in the recovery room, during a wicked rainstorm, setting up our new phones while mom and baby were sleeping.

And now I'm getting the iPhone 5 three weeks after my 2nd child was born. Looks like iPhone births and my children's births are on the same 2-year cycles. One of us is going to have to get fixed...
 
I just called my store and they haven't received anything yet. I'll try again before they close tonight at 9pm. They open at 9am tomorrow morning.

I called this morning too. They told me that they would call to schedule appointments in the order of when you preordered the phone. Since I didn't preorder until Sunday he said I might not get a call today for pickup tomorrow. I told him that if I don't receive an appointment time for tomorrow I'll just go to AT&T in the morning and use my $50 gift card for a case. After a brief hold he told me that a manager would be calling me later today. :)
They hadn't received their shipment yet but they get their shipments on Thursdays.

Called the radioshack i preordered at end of day Tuesday.

Im 3rd on the list of 6 total preorders lol.
 
Since AT&T screwed up my premier order on the 21st (And I only heard from them on Monday letting me know that they needed additional verification and that I have lost my "spot" in line), I cancelled my order with them and went to my local Radio Shack and pre-ordered the phone on Monday. The associate assured me that I would get the phone on the 21st and that someone would call me to setup some time.

I was walking by the store today and I stopped by to see if they had received their stock and ended up speaking to the manager. He told me that they had a total of 25 preorders for the AT&T model and as of today they have only received 6 in stock and that since they started taking pre-orders on Thursday (I found this strange since I thought that no one could begin the POs till Friday), I should not be too hopeful of getting the phone on Friday. He "thinks" that there might be another shipment coming in on Saturday or Monday and that I maybe one of the pre-orders in the second or the third batch. I asked him if I should stop by tomorrow to check anyway (since I walk past this store everyday) and he said "No, We will be busy with other activations and we will call you." I asked him if I would get the phone by Mon at the latest and he said he cannot commit anything at this point - "It may take 2 days, 2 weeks or 2 months."

Obviously, I am not thrilled with this attitude. Just thought I would update the forum. I am not going to be running to different stores to get a launch day phone because I do have better things to do. I just wish people were more honest and upfront when they sell you stuff. Sorry for the rant.
 
So I had to work on the day preorders started. And I didn't want to stay up and pay full price before I sold my 4s. So had my wife go to RadioShack as soon as they opened. 10am sharp. I was the first one.




Just got off the phone with RadioShack my phone is coming today!!!! So I can pick it up after I get off work tomorrow!! Or should I just call off and pick it up when the store opens?
 
Alright guys!

So I called in JUST NOW... and they have gave me an 11am appointment tommorow! They have received the iPhones. I am really excited! They said that I can walk in at the 11am appointment and pick it up. They also told me that they are bringing a bunch of new cases, screen protectors and stuff.

Sounds like you got lucky. Being 4th on the list really means nothing I guess. They are getting more phones but my 32GB Black one isn't coming tomorrow so hopefully we can get someone to drop the white one. Looks like for me, I am still on the edge. At least I know I'll get it before October 5 but here's hoping for the best!
 
Just called a local RS and asked if they will have any i5 available tomorrow. He said that they will only have phones available for the people that PO and that they will arrive tomorrow morning.

So I'm guessing if your store has already received phones today, they might get more tomorrow? I'm not sure about that however looks like I will just have to wait and see till tomorrow.

I will updated my status tomorrow morning.

The guy didn't give you an attitude. He gave you an answer. One you didn't like because it was the truth.

Get a clue and get over yourself. Lots of folks with issue and far larger than this. :rolleyes:

Haha, not luck man. Was the 3rd person on the pre-order list. He told me that all preorders will be covered and no walk ins will be available until after 3 days of their scheduled pickup.
 
The store I pre ordered from only got 2 AT&T 16gb black in. Mine was not among the two, hopefully Saturday or Monday but I'm not getting my hopes up

I'm on the waitlist and I just called to change color. The guy said they received shipments but doesn't even cover all the pre orders. He said it'll take a week or two for me depending how many units they get in the following week. Guess I'm out of luck since I'm working all day Friday and Saturday.
 
my RS experience

Just called Radio Shack and confirmed that my iPhone will be in tomorrow. They must not have received very many preorders because she knew right away who I was and the model I ordered.

FYI, I went in on Monday morning and preordered the white 32gb on AT&T.

Hopefully it's only the verizon orders that won't be in store on friday. Even privately owned verizon store preorders are thrown into the general verizon queue. I hope all ATT preorders will be there.
