I called apple and all i can get out of them is this.
We committed to ship in 3-5 business days and we committed to have your ipad delivered on march 18-25th.
They repeated this 10-15 times and answered every question with this same message. The first person i talked to was a very sweet nice girl, the manager guy was an A$$hole

So I just called Apple and asked why mine wasn't moving forward in status. They said it missed the last plane out of China for the day.
Currently it's on the back of a donkey making it's way east so it can be loaded onto a dolphin equipped with GPS. It should be in hawaii by Saturday and then in So Cal by next Tuesday!
Sounds about accurate! Since mine has been "not yet shipped" for 5 days now, I am hoping they are spending 5 WHOLE DAYS AND NIGHTS putting it together meticulously - because if it arrives with dead pixels or light leak, I will flip. I would also not be opposed if they are taking 5 days to enrobe my iPad 2 in 17 layers of pure 24 karat gold.

They gave me a freebie to cuz I wanted the leather one but leather wouldn't ship for 2-4 weeks so I said forget it and he said what if you order the leather one now and wait and I'll give you a free basic one to use in the meantime, so I did and it came today! Sweet deal for me!
Call again and start off by saying your friend right next to you (we can be your "friend"!) just called and was in the same situation and they gave it to him. They won't deny it then. Worked for me.
I told them that people that ordered after me are receiving theirs before me and I kept complaining about how random this shipping process. Idk, just a bunch of crap (5mins work) then he said, "I can give you an accessories for your iPad and it will make it there when your iPad arrive." I decided to roll with the smart cover since I canceled it off my original order. Although, it's on back order, he said he can have it ship within the next 24 hours.
I guess customer service is good for something.
And I also said my sister ordered an hour after me and she has hers and mines will not be here until next week. I think that is what won me the smart cover.

I'm in San Diego and ordered at 1:04 am, mine is same as yours ATT I assume and it was released from customs at 12:00pm today in Alaska.

When they're offering accessories, are they giving a cost limit? I've already got my smartcover, but I'd love to have them tack on a guitar connector. I know those are 99 (at least to connect to the 30-pin), but for all the bs they're throwing together right now...
I called today also and said I had to have it by the weekend and was willing to pay for next day shipping and the guy was really cool and upgraded me to next day shipping at no charge!
So for those of us who got in to Anchorage today, I guess its our turn to camp out overnight

Exactly the same.. One of mine has been stuck and the other shows left alaska about an hour ago
That may work part of the time, but telling them your friend who is with you just called about the same thing and got it should work all of the time. It's hard to deny that one, but easy to say tough **** for just wanting it by the weekend.
Wow, that's fantastic--congrats! I still don't have any news, and I'm waiting on the same exact device, and ordered about 10 hours before you. Hopefully, I'll hear something soon, too.
Just got off the phone with apple customer support they kept telling there is still until friday for my order to be shipped out even though i ordered it at 1:06am PST on March 11th because my order didn't start processing until monday even though 2 business days had already passed,and she also added that this situation happens sometimes that some orders process quicker than others even if there were ordered after which doesn't seem fair to at all.My ipad 2 is still at the "not yet shipped" status.
