My ATT 64 GB white went to prepared to ship early this morning. Hasn't been shipped yet. My av cord came from the same area last Monday and was delivered on Friday. Hopefully I'll get lucky and get the iPad this Thursday.

The flight from memphis to syracuse leaves at 4am est every day except Sunday. Looks good for you

I'm not guessing. I'm saying FedEx will deliver the packages on or close to when they say they will. Not sure how I've been rude.

You're guessing that something fantastical has happened to these iPads, without much evidence besides a phone conversation.

Mcirish, wherewuz has a point. If you read around this and other forums there have been a ton of inconsistent answers from the various Fedex and Apple CS reps. While in the Prepared for Shipment days, i was told that my iPad was definitively shipping from Chicago, and my rep was intent on helping with this question. She put me on hold to find out which warehouse, at one point we even got disconnected (AT&T dropped call) and she immediately called me back... I believed at the very least that she believed what she was telling me was the truth. The point is who knows what these people know... Could be bs, could be intercompany rumors (possibly like we are getting on these forums)... Who knows, we're all searching for answers, probably will never really know what really happened... my date still says 3-23, some were lucky to get theirs early, although im not one of those lucky ones, I do have the hope that it will at least not be late

I seriously doubt that fedex can make their 23rd delivery time by now. I am in LA. It's going to travel to AK, Memphis, then to Cal and my home in less than 48hrs.... I was hoping mine will be on the plane to OAK yesterday. I cannot handle all these waiting first from apple and then from fedex.... What else can go wrong....

Perspective on Sales and shipping

I am trying to get a grasp on the logistics of Ipad sales,production and shipping.
I saw a report that said Apple plans to produce and ship 2.5 million Ipad in March. If they work 20 days a month they will ship 125,000 Ipads a day. If they are packaging them on pallets of 1000 per pallet thats 125 pallets a day. There must be one huge warehouse full of Ipads waiting on a flight. Not sure how many pallets fit on a fedex cargo plane.

There's no backup. There's just a large supply of iPads due to arrive on the 23rd and 24th. We've established that. The proof is in the fact that there are thousands of iPads arriving and leaving Lantau Island everyday, while others have been there for four days. The common theme is estimated ship date.

My point is that there's no reason to wait to ship them simply based on the arrival date because a number of people have received their iPads days before the estimated arrival date. Also since the factories in China are churning them out at a speed that's apparently faster than the speed at which they can be shipped from Hong Kong to the U.S., hence the backlog (not to mention the problems in the region with radiation leaking out). I'd say that people shipping currently from China can expect to see at least a 4 or 5 day "stayover" in Launtau Island.

Personally I'm going to believe a FedEx person who can actually see in her computer system what's happening, over some random person in the forums who's basically has no facts and is imagining what he thinks is happening. Besides a number of people have called FedEx (including me) and got a similar response, so either there's a vast conspiracy at FedEx to lie to customers about the iPad shipping schedules or the people at FedEx are telling the truth.


As for a large number leaving Launtau every day, I haven't seen any posts from anyone whose shipment left Lantau Island any time since March 18th. All the current shipping posts are about shipments that were already in the U.S. Everyone else is posting how there shipment is stuck in Lantau.

I couldn't agree with you more. If FedEx just provided tracking for ipads from the day it shipped and just the day it was delivered...it's safe to say this thread would be 10x shorter. Because they provide all the details in between point a to b - we have a lot of pretty (extremely) eager soon to be ipad2 owners.

I still have confidence mine will arrive when fedex says it will.

I hope I could be so optimistic like you. There must be a huge pallet jam on the FedEx ramp at Lantau Island. I have begun to hate that island, even though I have no clue how nice it might be. Stuck on Lantau Island since March 18 with no movement so far. ETA in D.C. on March 23.

I got done communicating with FEDEX Social media CS. via twitter and email. She explained to me about the not being able to find a plane and she said it will take more time due to passing customs. Has anyone called to complain about this issue yet?
