For those of us whose packages made it to AK yesterday but didn't go any further: I escalated the issue within FedEx and I finally got the truth. And I quote:

It appears that the aircraft was bulked out causing this package in addition to some others, to not be able to make the flight on yesterday.

By bulk out they mean that the plane was loaded with the maximum amount of weight it can safely handle. In other words, they are referring to weight, not volume.

Now, I realize that there were two flights from AK to TN yesterday, so I don't know if that is exactly the same thing that happened to BOTH flights, but it is safe to assume that it did.

So stop tracking your package, stop believing the customs excuses or the delivery promises. Your package will leave tonight and arrive tomorrow, not today.

There are several of us with the same issue. Looks like a container didn't make it onto the plane yesterday or something.

Then they need to update our status and say they are delayed rather than on schedule. I've been on edge all day checking out my window every 5 minutes hoping it is still on schedule.

My smart cover has been behind the iPad the entire time, and now it just jumped ahead! Says "Released for Delivery" out of Anchorage, and the iPad is still at "Arrived at Sort Facility"!

I called Fedex international around noon EST, to see where my package was, it was suppossed to be delivered by 10:30AM on 3/23 Today. It never showed. So the Rep couldn't tell me much, they transfered me to some one in a different department who siad they couldn't locate my package and that they were opening a "Trace" on the package and that some one would call me back when they have more info. Sounds like they misplaced a pallet or something.

Unless there's either a backup at customs or an issue with too many pallets for the flight to your regional distribution center (see the earlier posts about bulking out), you should have it tomorrow. As should the rest of us who landed in Anchorage at 8:49am today.

Not that that's stopping me from constantly checking this post and the tracking information either.

Hi Userblah- I'm in Chicago too, and ordered exactly the same model at 3.05 PM PDT March 11th and was given a 3/25 ship date and a 4/1 delivery date ie I ordered the same thing for the same town 2 mins after you and was given shipping/delivery dates a few days ahead of you. Of course we all know what that's worth and indeed I still show as "not yet shipped" and your baby is on its way. Go, as they say, figure. Anyway, fingers crossed. And thanks everyone, I'm enjoying this thread. Wonder how long it'll run...

It is possible but I wouldn't get your hopes up for it. Some people are able to get on flights out of Alaska and others get stuck there an extra day because the flights are all full. At this point I don't believe anything FedEx says. My delivery time is over in an hour and they still haven't said that it is delayed or anything.

Nice catch, one of my two iPads that were on this flight just flipped to released as well. Assuming the other will any minute now and that it's just a processing lag.

I ordered my iPad 2 32 GB WiFi in black on the 19th. It's in the 4-5 week crowd with an estimated ship date of the 25th of next month. At the steadier rate that shipments appear to be leaving the factory in the last day or so, does anyone have any idea or a guess as to when mine is most likely to ship? I'm hoping I won't have to actually wait until the 25th.

Hmm... do y'all mean ~3:00 AM? My wife ordered a black 32GB wifi only for my birthday (end of April, so still plenty of time) at ~10:00-10:15 AM EDT (7AM PDT) that is still showing as Not Yet Shipped and an estimated ship date of April 1. We're in Georgia, not Chicago, but that shouldn't make any difference at all to Apple's fulfilment process--maybe to FedEx's delivery schedule, but it really shouldn't even affect that.

iPad 2 Delivery STATUS

I Just received mine at 3:37 PM here at the Jersey Shore on the East Coast. I placed my order on a Black WIFI 3G 64 GB iPad 2 on 11 March 2011 at 4:04 AM Eastern Standard Time (EST). I have the ORIGINAL iPad but had to have this one also. I confess to having a JONES for anything from APPLE- what can I say! Its impossible to stop. As usual with these APPLE products - it's all about the HUNT! Enjoy and now on to iPhone 5!!!!!!

Call Fedex International and see what they say, see if they tell you they can't locate it and see if they open a trace. This is what they told me when I called at noon today. Mine was slated to be delivered at 10:30AM today but never showed up.

Tracking info says that my iPad is in transit from Anchorage. The estimated delivery says that will be place by 4:30 pm of today. Imposible.

I just received mine today at 3:37 this afternoon, 23 March 2011, EXACTLY when they stated It would be delivered by - 4:30 PM TODAY. I live in New Jersey if that helps. Hopefully you'll have the same results. Good luck.

Just got off the phone with an international CS rep and I was told it's shipping out to my final destination later today with delivery tomorrow (which is fine by me), none of this tracer stuff involving lost parcels brought up so I guess I can rule that out
