Is it 4:30 where you live yet? It updated automatically as soon as 4:30 passed and it wasn't delivered. Personally I think their system should be smart enough to realize when something is delayed but I guess that is too much to ask for.

Once 10:30 am rolled around and my ipad wasnt delivered my estimated delivery date disappeared, now it has no estimated delivery date. It was 3/23 by 10:30am

My wait is over. Fedex delivered mine this afternoon. I ordered at 3:50am on 3/11 EST.

Now just to play with them.

Also my fedex status didn't show it left HK until it reached AL. I'm in jersey also and my flight didn't go to memphis. It went right from anchoridge right to newark nj and then on to my local sorting station.

Almost. I'm in Dallas. I asked the FedEx rep why the system did not change when they knew that it would not be delivered today. She did not have a reason.

I'm actually ok with Apple's handling of things. I wish they had shipped out the iPads more quickly, but they at least did what they said they would do. When I ordered, they told me shipping in 3-5 days. It shipped out in 4. I can't complain about that, even if I wanted it faster.

Have to agree..Apple did quote the 3-5 shipping days with a Mar 18-Mar 25 delivery. And even though mine shipped and "delivered" in the latter part of those days, it was within the range. Not that I wish it wasn't faster though.

I say "delivered" with quotes because I JUST MISSED the FedEx truck by 10 minutes coming home from work! UGH! just my luck! (Didn't want to pre-sign).

There's a couple of hours left in the day so I called to ask for a re-attempt for today. They said they'll try, but if not...I'm going to my local FedEx office after 6pm and picking up that bad boy. It (and I!!!) need to be put out of our traveling misery!

I just found this on the Fedex website, for people whos estimated delivery date has disappeared.

Q. When I first tracked the package, it had an estimated delivery date, and now there isn't one. What does this mean?

A. We are able to provide the estimated delivery date information for many of our shipments. When the shipment encounters a delay or an exception in handling, we may not be able to accurately state when we expect the package to be delivered.

Two WHITE-32GB-WIFI's ordered at 2 pm EST on March 11, one for Long Island and the other for Northern VA. The first was delivered several hours ago in Northport. The unit for NoVA shipped on March 22, spent less than 20 hours in Lantau Island, just arrived in Alaska (as with many others above). Probable delivery for the second is March 25, four days ahead of Fedex's estimated date and 12-13 days ahead of the estimated delivery date originally shown by Apple. I hope this helps.

So. Calif/Oakland Arrival ppl from last night

For all you last-night Oakland arrival of 10 p.m. ppl, my iPad that was supposed to be delivered today by 4:30 has not arrived and there has been no update to the web status page today so I called FedEx and they had to call me back. After waiting an hour they finally did. NO IPAD TODAY! They don't know what happened to it! They are putting a trace on it and if they can't find it I have to contact Apple and re-order!!! Well you guys know what that means...it means getting in the back of the line and waiting weeks again for one! There is still a chance they might find it tomorrow but the last trace of it was in Oakland LAST NIGHT! hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh i HAVE THE WORST LUCK!

You are joking, right? I wouldn't call Apple taking 6 full days to even ship it and another 4 days just sitting in a warehouse in Hong Kong "Fast" Free Shipping. Sure, once it left Lantau it got there quickly, but everything else seems incredibly slow.

In today's internet world "Fast Free Shipping" means out the same day (Friday) and delivery in two business days or less to me.

That is exactly what I was thinking. When I hear "fast, free shipping" I think something like Amazon Prime -- you order it and it's at your door in 2 days. Obviously, I wasn't expecting it to be that fast knowing it would ship internationally, but ordering it so early on a Friday morning I fully expected to get it no later than Wednesday or Thursday of the next week. Yes, we got free shipping, which is nice, but definitely not fast.

These comments are very refreshing. It wasn't that long ago that we had to book long-distance calls through an operator, only the USPS delivered these kinds of packages, and getting anything from another country (much less China) was unheard of. I'm grateful just to have someone handing me a very nice package after a very brief (in context) shipping period.

I also spoke to FEDEX international rep today, and also had a trace put on my shipment. As with yours, it's been in Memphis since Monday evening. I just got a call back from the rep, who said that it's somewhere in the Memphis facility, or in transit to NJ, and has been missed on a scan -- OR, that it's just "lost" in their facility -- OR, that it's shipping label has fallen off. She said that next possible information would likely not occur until TOMORROW MORNING, and that she'd call me back with any update. Of course, if it's located and scanned, I'll see that on their website.

Strange that both of our packages have experienced the same things, so it seems more likely to me that a pallet of iPads has been ignored for a while in some corner of the Memphis Fedex warehouse.

This is NOT looking good.

I just got off the phone with FEDEX international again because no one ever called me back about the trace. They still don't know where it is, they said the same thing to me that they said to you. So now they are supposed to call me back again. WTF!!!

Like the others, I called CS and they stated they don't know why the delivery times were not updated. They also said that they have "no clue" why they are still there..or that they even know if they are "still there."
A trace was put on, and hopefully, nobody's Ipad is lost and then have to wait who knows how long before Apple send a replacement. Ideally through UPS.
I've only had one issue with FedEx before. It was an ongoing issue, but a minor one. At my previous business, my driver would scan my packages due in the morning at the beginning of her shift, so she would never deliver the priority packages late. That was according to her. I have never had another issue with FedEx.
Seems this was too much for them..compared to their usual competence.

Totally amazed how quick Fedex becomes once it hits the lower 48. Last night my iPad landed in Oakland around 10pm PDT. And it was delivered to Everett, WA (just north of Seattle) at 11:30am this morning!

Synced and ready to go. So far, so good. No light bleeding detected yet; at least nothing I would return it for.

Many thanks to all the helpful people on this forum during this insanity. I hope we never see a launch like this again!!
