I do appreciate Apple beating the delivery by a week and I am always amazed at the efficiency of Fed Ex. So for those of you who are just starting this journey let me give you a condensed version of the things I learned on how to track your order. Times given here were the norm and I’m sure you can look through the postings and see some that are better and some that are worse.

First sign of movement, a pending charge on your credit card
Within 24 hours, status will change to Prepared for Shipment
Within 72 hours your iPad will be shipped
You can track your delivery (shown above) through the normal Fed Ex tracker or
Yahoo, http://smallbusiness.att.yahoo.com/r-packageTracker-s-fedex
You will be so tired of a location called Lantau Island HK 
So this is where the Yahoo tracker becomes handy, Fed Ex doesn’t give statuses as well as Yahoo when your package is leaving the island. As you can see above in Fed Ex tracker there was nothing between Lantau and Memphis, in Yahoo here are the entries you are looking for:

Look at the time it left the ramp, 21:56 and then bring up the Flight Aware http://flightaware.com/live/fleet/FDX
Look for a flight with the same time and that should be the flight your iPad is on. One thing I did notice is FlightAware doesn’t seem to track the International flights too well until they are half way across the Pacific, the status always looked like this for the first 8 hours or so of the flight:

Well I went out to the local Airport WEB site and could see the flight did actually take off, so it was just Flight Aware not reporting it yet.

Wish I could explain why some are sent to Alaska or Japan but this was the route mine took. I wish all of you the best of luck and patience while you are still waiting for yours to ship.

Mine has been prepared for shipment for almost the full 72 hours. I talked to one apple support person and they explained to me that "prepared for shipment" means that it will "usually" ship within 24 hours (not in my case, of course). Then I spoke to someone after to get more clarity. They stated that it "could" be sooner but my original ship date of April 19 and delivery date of April 22 stands. She actually said it will "probably" happen before then and "wouldn't that be nice." Heh. I understand they cannot promise things but a little more direction would be helpful. I have seen on here how several have moved from prepared for shipment to shipped within 8 hours to 24 hours normally. I WISH I could even get the shipping notice just to move on. This prepared for shipment is the worst...

Although it came pre-scratched on the back... I'm really anal about things like this... I want to get it exchanged... but I don't want to wait any longer

you can take it into the apple store near you. They should have warranty inventory separate from sales inventory. you can always call to check and talk to someone at the genius bar. I'd reccommend calling the 800 apple care # first to establish a ticket so when you go to the store you just give the ticket # and you're in and out fast.

I've seen people on here doing 3 and 4 exchanges for dents, dings, backlight bleeding and dust under the screen. We're all a little crazy, they should understand. You paid $650 for it. It should be perfect. let us know how it goes..

NICE! yeah the rep I talked to earlier said PFS could last anywhere up to 5 days with the iPad 2 orders and is the longest he's ever seen for any product.

I was in PFS status for about 55 hours when I got the shipping notification email. Delivery date was 10 days earlier than original estimate.

CALL AppleCare. Just dial 1800-MYAPPLE and tell the automated thing Apple Care.

Report it to them and they will tell you whether or not it can be replaced via mail or in store. that will guarantee one way or the other, but you should call them.

Ordered a black 64 Gig, AT&T 3G on March 15th and just received it this afternoon.

Originally estimated ship date of April 19 and projected delivery of April 22. It was sent on April 4 with a projected delivery of April 8 and arrived one day earlier.

The only models around at Apple Stores in Delaware and Atlantic City were 3G Verizon models, typically around 32 Gig and white for some reason. I travel to Europe and already have a SIM card for overseas so I wasn't going to play around with Verizon.
