My iPad has been shipped

Placed my order at 12:47 am on 3/11/2011 in California. Received an email last night (3/12/2011 at 7:29pm) about my WHITE, 32gb, WiFi iPad 2

Here i my status via Fed Ex:

* Mar 12, 2011 11:12 AM Shipment information sent to FedEx
* Mar 13, 2011 10:57 AM Picked up SHENZHEN CN Package received after FedEx cutoff
* Mar 13, 2011 11:20 PM In transit LANTAU ISLAND HK

Estimated date/time to receive my iPad is 3/17 by 4:30pm

mine was picked up at the exact same time, so obvioulsy on the same truck, yet it has not been updated since then saying it's on that island near the airport :confused:

What is also weird is the time difference between "Left FedEx Origin Location" and it arrive at the Lantau Island facility in HK is only 6 minutes difference. So despite being on the same truck, and sent at the same time, apparently mine still has not completed the 6 minute journey :p

I orderd the exact same one as you 6 minutes earlier and no movement.
I don't think our models are moving very fast. Could be a low production factor? DUNNO but I haven't seen very many posts about this particular model shipping from anyone. Did you get ATT or Verizon? I got ATT.

Oh sorry I thought yours said 3G model. NM
 
Still waiting for my 16GB white wi-fi to be prepared for shipping, much less actually shipped. bought at 1:02am

Seems like a lot of people who were first in have not gotten any update on the 64 GB WiFi model.

Me too, exact same time as yours. Odd how for some people it took 6minutes after it arrived at origin location in shenzhan, yet for us it took nearly an hour longer.
 
Basically, it seems that no 3G AT&T model is shipping yet... dammit what a logistics mess.

They dropped the ball on this it seems.. every single model should have been ready to go for all online orders.

I think they stocked their stores first and then just left us online shoppers with "what was scheduled to roll off the line"... and now it seems that the high end AT&T versions are the last to be produced or have some delay.

Probably just a matter of when they scanned the packages rather than when the arrived.

But they could have multiple trucks going back and forth taking packages to the next facility to go on the plane I suppose.
 
Interesting. Email says delivers by Mar. 16, but fedex is saying 17th.

Agreed there should have been some of each model to send out immediately to the first 1000 orders I would think. And then all the cancellation threads going around just pray that we don't get cancelled.
 
The lack of 64GB models is making me worry that they had a delay in getting the memory to the assemblers. It makes little sense that they would send out the most expensive ones last unless they are unable to make them at all. This sucks for those of us who live in places where buying one in a store is impossible. We have ONE Apple reseller on the island and they told me they might get their very first shipment on the 25th.

I'm guessing the 16gb and 32gb models just sold a lot more for iPad 1 and this launch so they just made fewer 64gb.

Have to target production to what's most in demand.

I got my cover... but the ipad isn't coming until april 6th. It's torturous, because I got the shipping thing and I was all excited I would get my ipad yippee! NO just the cover :( but the green cover is pretty :)
 
I know this sounds crazy but after another post last night about AT&T I went on line to order 16gb 3g from AT&T site. It said it would ship Monday. Before I placed the order at 6:30PM yesterday, Saturday 3/12/11 I did an online chat to confirm. I just checked order status and I now have tracking numbers. It is coming two day free shipping.

On another note there have been several posts about wifi models in stock at BH Photo out of New York for shipment on Monday...
 
Im not going to be home wednesday or thursday (have to work) I know it says indirect sig required. they are not going to just leave my iPads on the porch are they?

I wonder if I can call Fed-ex and ask them to hold them at the facility here in my town so I can just come pick it up.
