But no, they won't just leave it on the porch in any case unless you do a pre-sign waiver and leave that on the door for them.

Waited in line 4 hours but sold out, purchased online once home
I waited in line for 4 hours in Sacramento CA, but they were out of all ATT models within 1 hour of opening. I went home and ordered online but got confirmation email saying the white 64GB ATT model will ship April 11 with delivery April 14th. Guess I trusted Apple to have enough for those of us going to the store and waiting in the line... should have ordered a safety unit online at 1am and now it is going to be more than a month before I can get mine. Must say that I am more than just upset with Apple... would love to at least have some notifications from them on when a store will have stock so that I can go wait in line but can't possibly go everyday in the hope they will get some stock. Really poor planning IMHO 😡

Awesome Thanks! Just reserved to have it at my local fed-ex! Hopefully they will just deliver it there that day so I don't have to wait an extra business day

I know and it went to that last night. FYI the 2 days shipping tracking numbers are USPS Priority Mail. They show shipping today Sunday 3/13/11 but I am sure it won't ship until Monday. According to a post that alerted me they opened up stock for a short time as other posters reported 2-3 weeks prior to 6PM...
I just was lucky.

I honestly think people will get their iPads earlier that the sites are quoting as supply gets restored....
I ordered 16 gb WiFi online at 4:00 AM EST and still hasn't been prepared for shipment. I'm now sorry that I didn't order the Verizon model. I just talked to Verizon and they said they have the 16 gb Verizon for shipment by the 25th. I'm wondering how that is possible since no one else, not even the Apple store, has them. I don't want to cancel my order with Apple and then not end up with any, but I don't want to end up with 2 either.

I got mine yesterday. It has updated today (went from Shenzhen, China to some island in Hong Kong).
Doesn't seem like many (if any) in the tracking thread have gotten a tracking number for the first time today though. Just movement on ones received yesterday.

Seems the stores around here were heavier in the 64g wifi models but no 3G. We setTled for 64 wifi only's. Sounds like they shipped slot to the stores but didn't keep any for online. If anyone got 3G but wanted wifi let's talk a trade,lol

I woke up at 1 AM PT and like an idiot was just watching the estimate for shipments go up. Finally pulled the plug at around 3:20 AM after making up my mind about the model. The estimates on the buying page were still showing 3-5 business days, and by the time I got through the checkout, it updated to 5-7 days (I am not one of those people with ninja shopping moves like on-click ordering 😉). I sympathize with people who ordered at 2-3 weeks. If you are OCD like me (and since you are reading this forum, you must be 😀), you you are probably checking orders status for an update every couple of hours. Leaving US on 30th of March, so hoping that I get in time, and that there is nothing wrong with it.

Probably. Apple told us all "Delivers Mar 18 - Mar 25" yet most of us are on track for a Mar 16 or 17th delivery, if not others who have received theirs already or will before the 16th.

For what it's worth and to those wondering about 64GB WiFi models, I placed my order on the 11th at 12:57 AM PST.
I received a shipping notification on the 12th at 8:36 AM PST w/ a FedEx tracking number.
Current location as of today at 8:58 AM PST, it's at a FedEx facility on Lantau Island, HK.
Delivery date is scheduled for the 17th at 3:30 PM PST.

Hah, I was 4 minutes behind you with a white wi-fi 64GB and I'm still waiting for it to switch from "prepared to ship" to "shipped"!! I mean, the accessories are out the door already, but my iPad is languishing in China...*sigh* ...good things comes to those who wait...and I've been waiting! 😀

Approaching the 34th hour since I placed my order for my new beautiful white 32bg wifi/3g iPad with my name engraved and still no response. Has Appletown USA forgotten about me? Does Steve know that I'm waiting here becoming inpatient by the hour just waiting for some sort of acknowledgment!!🙁 Life is becoming so miserable as I realize there are hundreds maybe thousands of people playing with their new iPad 2 and my hands are empty. Are they (the chosen ones) downloading fun apps from the Appletown!! Are their friends sitting there in envy because they have this awesome machine. My friends are laughing at me because I chose to order online!! Why Steve Why!! I need some kind of answer now. Is my invoice sitting on the ground somewhere forgotten and Betty Appleclerk hasn't looked down to see I have been forgotten!! Breakfast didn't taste the same today and I'm sure lunch will be horrible, and I won't have an appetite for dinner until I receive my shipping notice, until then I'll close my eyes and dream of my new iPaddy (I named him already in honor of St Paddy's day) and hope we'll be together soon!!
