this is why i hate samesung so much... they are always blatantly copying apple's design.
Not just Apple. They do this to other companies as well. Imitate and copy, produce cheaper (often with lower quality), take over market share and eventually destroy the competitor. Apple isn't the only one fighting Samsung in courts. Others include Pioneer, LG, Siemens, Kodak and Sharp. When being sued, they countersue and those expensive legal battles often end in a settlement.

And then next year.. they remove headphone jack's from their phones.
You mean like the several Android handsets that have already done this that Apple are copying!! Can they do nothing original anymore!!

It's the highlight the same boring truth to the same boring people who never read the comments, but just dive in head first with the rediculous Samsung copy this, Samsung copy that. It is so lame. Then on the next page they praise Apple when they copy someone for waiting to do it right. The hyprocacy is off the page..

I love that you copy and pasted the additional square bracket at the beginning of this post multiple times.
Hey, it's a design thing.. the content is still relevant.

For Odin's sake, it's a touchscreen attached to a wrist band. Based on that immensely vague description, can Samsung's engineers really not sketch something remotely distinguishable from an Apple Watch?

I read a story in a book about design, where a company A's design was ripped off by company B. Things went to court. B claimed that this was the only possible design for the functionality of the product. Company A hired a designer who appeared in court a few days later. With three completely different designs.

Yeah, cause their computer business went down the crapper.
I know. In the UK, their computer business went so much down the crapper, Samsung stopped selling computers altogether. Don't know about other countries.

You just can't make this **** up

You clearly don't read previous posts or understand what is going on then.

It's normal to include other variants of the patent area as full disclosure helps the person who approves the patent.
Samsung aren't attempting to get a patent on the way that Apple have done it.

(Apple) iPhone 6S Plus
(Samsung) Galaxy S7 Edge

I don't see much difference...

I was making fun of an actual mid-2014 phone called like that ;)

Pretty sure that the described methods of attaching a watch to a strap - remember there were watches before Apple - precede Apple. So they borrowed the drawings.

It is the wrong way to see it. It is not like when you add a functionality or when you make a product to looks like an other. There is a trend of a port becoming obsolete, and Apple choose to push in that direction. They does not initiate the trend but since they have a lot of weigh in the industry it is a major move which can be see like an inflexion point. Plus, if they bring a compelling solution to get rid of the jack, the move can be seen as a starting point as all anterior move by the competition would be considered non significant.
The main problem with Samsung if they choose to finally follow this trend is that they choose to mock it at first.

Because you can't hold the damn thing without touching the screen and because of it being that thin at the edges it slips off the hand and because the features that Samsung has put in doesn't really improve anything other than adding redundant crap.

Also light and colour bleeds when you watch a video. Screen visibility is terrible when you're looking at it from an angle. Need I say more?
Doesn't add anything? Good lord

Would love to hear what you think the iPhone provides

Love it, let me guess tho, when Apple copy it 100% it will be magical. You sir are awesome lol

Who looks at their screen at an angle? It's not a TV in a fixed position ffs.

iPhone and iOS focuses on usability way more than any other manufacturer at this point. Look at the dedicated mute switch. That makes life so much more easier to put the device in silent mode rather than digging into the menu system. You really need to understand what usability is to appreciate what iPhone and iOS do on day to day tasks.

So click the side of the phone is so much quicker than scrolling up and clicking silent on Samsung phones eh?

I'm not one of those zombie Apple followers but I can see a good design. FYI I have way more Android devices than Apple devices.

Unless, of course, you have set it to be the rotation lock instead :)

Oh man, don't get me started on the ways Apple screwed up UIs, starting with throwing out the scrollbar and its ability to get to any section quickly. Oh sure, tap to go to top, but what about the bottom of a huge document? Ha.

Not really, hardly any difference at all.

What happens if Apple remove the mute button which has been rumoured at some point lately
I bet if they remove a feature, a better or as good of a solution will be implemented. That's what Apple as a company does better. Implement features that have actually been thought through. Not like most of the Android manufacturers, especially Samsung, that crams in features without thinking how it should be implemented to get the intended benefit out of it.

Yes of course. But that's a conscious choice the user will make depending on their use case.

I'm not saying they're flawless but they're way better than the Android OEMs. Also the document thing you mentioned, there's a valid use case. You're supposed to read the document rather than scroll past to the end, isn't that a valid usability scenario?!

Sadly we see this excuse from Apple fans too much. "Apple are just waiting to get it right"

What exactly have they got right recently? 3D Touch? Touch ID?

Both useful indeed but what else? Sadly Apple have become rather behind on other key features for many users. The Apple for one has the same look as it's been for past 5 years on the home screen for one

So placing your finger on the down volume for about a second, which mutes the volume is a pain is it. Wow.is your life that busy you can't spare the time?
