Red is always better then brown.

I could stand a red MacBook, but a red iMac would just look strange.

A red macbook would be very cool; I dont know if the iMac would do quite as well (its much larger for such an intense color, its in your home)

If a thief is looking to steal your laptop, I dont think it matters what color it is.
Nah I would shy away from white, I mean think of the yellowing problems!
Red mac book would be awesome and the cause is even better.

Bring on the red! I still want a tangerine macbook though (PLEASE APPLE!!) :D

I think Apple needs to bring back colors in general, I still love my hopelessly outdated tangerine ibook. Metallic tint would rock. At least bring black to the imac/ and mini, we need some more choices. I love my iMac being white, but I would die from happiness if I got a tangerine or a lime one. I understand that Apple would have stock problems, but maybe they could come up with some kind of skin or plate to customize it.

Rant over :)

Maybe it could just be a MacBook or MacBook Pro with a red apple logo. Could become a bit of a collector's item, and would be cheaper for Apple to do than creating all new shells in red (and arguably less ugly, and less like a red PC laptop).

MacBook with red apple logo, red keyboard letters, red touchpad and pulsating red sleeping light with a black case would look great. It would also be cool for a glossy black iMac with red apple logo and a black keyboard with red letters on the keys... :D

Studies show that white is actually more eye-catching than red.

It is. Same with green/yellow -- more reflective, generally speaking. But red as a color has more psychological effect or meaning than white. It may not be as visually noticeable amidst various colors or in a colorful environment, but it's a color that people notice and associate with something. We have trained ourselves to think of bright red sports cars, fire trucks, etc.. A bright red notebook sitting on a desk or in the lap of a stranger at an airport is going to scream out to people "hey, I'm not a typical computer!". I've traveled with boring Dell and HP notebooks for years... No one ever gives them much of a second glance... Except maybe the poor soul next to me on the airplane that has that "oh, crap" look when I pull a 17" HP out of a bag. But I took a metallic orange Hypersonic notebook on a trip this past summer. I borrowed it as my HP was acting up and I had to leave ASAP. The looks I got in the airport and everywhere I had it out were rather uncomfortable. People gawked at it. People would ask where I got it or what it was... I would imagine that a bright red Macbook would have the same effect at first until enough people bought them and everyone became desensitized to it.

Sorry for the drawn out reply, but I still think an all red Macbook would be a strange idea. I'm not sure if it would be a bad idea, it would probably do a lot to accomplish Bono's intentions of drawing attention to his cause.

As for some of the other mock-ups posted. I don't see a red Apple logo... I doubt Jobs will let Bono mess with the logo. If it happens, I see red accents, perhaps a red top with the white lit logo. Or more than likely, all red on the inside surface when you open it, and still a white keyboard with red lettering. Actually that could look kinda cool even though red isn't exactly a color I would want to buy. Maybe that's my problem, I don't really like red. :D

Red MacBook shouldn't be totally red, but a combination of red and black. "Inside" should be black (keyboard/trackpad/upper case/display edges) and only the lower case and rear display bezel should be red aluminum. That would be sweet.

Its cool comes from the contribution that it makes to charity not its colour. Who would choose, simply based on colour, the red iPod? It is for many a sacrifice in itself, not having the coolest colour, but one that a lot of people will think is worth making in order to help contribute and also make a statement about their contribution. Of course there will be others that have their own ways of giving to charity and buy the one they like over and above other considerations.

Me, for one. I've been waiting to buy a nano till I get back to the states, and I'm very happy that a red one is out. It's the one I would buy anyways, with no consideration for the charitable aspect. That's just a bonus.

What makes more sense for an iPod than to be available in 'Apple Red'?

Wow. Can't believe that I didn't think of that. What about they make a shiny blackbook (I HATE MATTE), with red keys, trackpad and apple light.

What if they just give money away for every iPod purchase or something? Then more money would be raised and the consumer could choose something other then red, if they want.

The name of this AIDS campaign is (RED). Hence the red products. Other companies are doing it as well. GAP, Fossil, Motorola...

I remember seeing a fake Red MacBook picture before the launch of MB. It certainly looked pretty good to me. I`d really want Apple to bring back some color in their computers. The translucent eMacs and iBooks looked really amazing. This BLACK n WHITE world is just not what I used to associate with Apple. It`ll be really great if they offer us some more color options. (and for a reasonable price too)

I agree with this - bring back the original iMac colours :D
