Sounds like another sleep through event.

I really don't understand why Apple don't drop these events and simply release products as and when they are ready for market. The whole events calendar is just a dated concept - time to move on Apple.

Didn't they say last year they were dropping these events as product releases and going back to basics so that the WWDC was all about software and developers... Which makes me think we won't see hardware, but we will see the software for the new ATV (HomeKit / ATVKit and an ATV App Store)... At least this is what i'm hoping!!

They thought as recently as May that they were going to be ready and now they know they're not? I would think if they were planning this just a month ago that the device would be a lock. Hard to imagine what went wrong.

I guess those media invites don't make a whole lot of sense now...
Agreed. I can't believe they would pull it at this point because of any kind of hardware issues. I suspect they could not close out those content deals necessary for the rumored cable TV alternative service they were going to offer and decided to postpone the whole thing. Very disappointing if that's the reason (and wrong thing to do IMO).

Pretty sure this was one of the, if not the, most anticipated announcement of WWDC. Post-poning this product even further doesn't sound like a good move. But I'd rather they waited and released something which is ready than rush something half baked out. Likely we'll see this at the iPhone event in September?

I'm thinking it might be time to sell my Apple TV. I rarely use it, so it's literally collecting dust. This new one might be worth it...if it ever ships.

Yeah! I'd don't watch much TV and get exercise instead. And I'm tired of Apple quickly becoming a consumer electronics company instead of staying a great computer company like it started out as.

And It has alwasys seemed funny to me that no one else that I know of thought this but when I first saw the WWDC 2015 poster with that black rounded-corner box the first thing I thought was MAC MINI.

You seem to be missing the big picture. Apple is still a great computer company. It's computers that have changed. Most people carry them around in their pockets now. They even have phones built right in!

Wait so what's left ? just the beats streaming service ? that wont even launch until the fall right ? is that the only thing they're showing off ??

so would this mean Apple will have no hardware to show off :( at this rate all we are going to see is IOS 9 and OSX update, they have already updated the Mac's so I can't see what else they could show off hardware wise.

Oh look some more at our Watch. Bigger iPod? LOL.

Makes you wonder if we'll ever see anything further come along for the Apple TV. I know it takes time when trying to enter into contracts with content providers, but man have they been at it for awhile.

For years now, we've been hearing rumors of "the next greatest thing" with the Apple TV...

AirPlay is a major feature of both iOS, Mac OS X, and even iTunes for Windows has it. That major feature is useless without Apple TV. Surely there will be an update, eventually.

WWDC has really never been about hardware, guys. No need to be over-the-top emotional about this. However, if it were announced during WWDC then it would most likely be because it was coming with an App Store.

This is the developer conference! They're showing off iOS and OS X. If you want them to drop the product launches, fine, albeit odd, but this is where developers go to learn about the new technology Apple is implementing.

Rumors seem to imply that the following are lost from WWDC:

1. New ATV
2. New TV Service
3. ATV toolkit
4. ATV as HomeKit hub

Whatever is announced for HomeKit will have to rely on other vendors for compatible hardware.

What's everyone crying about? You still have your Apple watch to play with. Watching Apple TV just makes you exercise less, get fat, and before you know it, you've thrown your Apple watch in the drawer because your health has degraded and you don't want to be reminded of it anymore. Look at the bright side. ;)
