I just picked up two SE2020, and the surprise wasn't the lack of power adapter...the surprise was a USB-C to lightning cable.I don't have a lot of USB-C stuff yet, so I'm not really sure what I'm going to do with them.

A USB-C brick would have been convenient. I do have a ton of USB-A hubs and power bricks everywhere, though, so not a big deal.

Yes, but do you remember the Apple ads
"Water resistance, who makes phone calls underwater?"
"Edge to edge displays only lets your thumb get in the way"
"Fingerprint sensors enable identity theft"
"Phones will never replace wallets"

No? That is because Apple didn't mock Samsung (or Motorola or Google Wallet) before copying them.

Now, remember Samsung bashing FaceID? Camera bump? Missing headphone jack? Bending (before the Galaxy tested as more bendy than iPhone)? Non-removeable batteries?

That would be the difference. Calling something stupid while you scramble to imitate it is a bit different than recognizing a good idea and trying to implement it with your own spin.
Sure, but that's a marketing strategy. There are two debates going on. Samsung always copies Apple (demonstrably untrue) and Samsung are hypocrites (which, okay, if you want to personify a company, that's a close enough descriptor for them).

Then again, it's not like Apple ever made fun of a competitor, right? (are you a Mac or a PC?)

Of course, most marketing is lost on me b/c I think most marketing is dumb.

No one is copying anyone, given that plenty of manufacturers have not been providing a power adaptor for several years in Europe on numerous models (including Samsung, LG, Nokia and Microsoft in the day)

Some of you just don't get business. Nothing is free. The charger included with phones cost money to make. Apple keeps their profit margins pretty consistent so in order to keep pricing the same, the cost to build the new model must equal the cost to build the old model. If they decided to take out the charging brick due to price increases or so that we can have something like a slightly more expensive camera, then what's the problem. Would you rather them include the brick and charge more for the phone or pay less now and buy a brick if/when you need one. Including and paying for something that a lot of people throw away (I've got a ton of wired ear pods that were never touched) is dumb for the environment and its a waste of your money (because its not really free).

At least with Samsung and android, most users would actually have an extra laying around since they have been using USb-C for years. Not to mention they won't spin it as being for the "environment" when we all know that is a load of crap.

The other way to look at this (I'm not choosing sides, just pointing it out) is that Apple added yet another charging solution to the mix for their new product (wired, regular Qi, and now MagSafe). Not knowing what a particular consumer might decide, they simply remove their charger and let the consumer pick the solution(s) that make the most sense to them.

Samsung's move? Don't add any new solutions, but remove the charger because Apple did it first, giving "permission" for the rest of the industry to follow suit.
Not trying to fight here, genuine question: has Samsung been changing their plug and charger ins and outs with every device release? What feels
So predatory about Apple is they’re constantly changing their stuff so it’s very likely that people don’t have the new stuff and HAVE to buy it anyway. They could have waited two more generations and just standardized with their other product lines and the industry with usb-c on both ends of their cables and the charger. MagSafe options being a special case of course.

to me, Samsung feels like it’s anti consumer and piling on because they’ve been on usb-c for awhile, as far as I know, but it doesn’t feel like a slap across the face like Apple’s move. They should both be offering 1:1 trade ins on new generation chargers and cabling if they’re really so concerned about landfills.

Going forward it does make sense when 2022 comes round and I am selling my iPhone 12 it will be sold without a power brick just as got it.

when I get the iPhone 14 or whatever it’s called, I will already have my 20W power brick to use with my new device...

If whoever buys my iPhone 12 doesn’t have a power brick they will need to factor that into their second hand purchase just like I factored it in when I got the iPhone 12...

I don’t understand why you feel it is so important to keep posting stories about Samsung, for the sole purpose of fuelling some kind of hate or us vs. them war.

Good. Less carbon in the atmosphere, less plastic junk in the ground and oceans. Sorry guys, you're going to have to pay extra. Take one for the team.
Why should the consumers get less for what they pay while manufacturers make more in the process on top of it?

Is it the information that's doing it or what people choose to do with that information?
