I don’t understand the fascination with an all in one desktop. Apart from being super cool, wouldn’t it be better to have a best in class apple monitor and the computer unit separate. I can change/upgrade either one as required. If space clutter is a problem you could always create neat ways of hanging a Mac mini on the back of the monitor. There is so much waste at the end of life of an iMac. It’s a shame that Apple can shout from the top of solar roof tops but not care about the environment for real.
If the iMac is to be a desktop high speed iPad Pro on a stick the environmental argument seems a little weaker. Mac mini units are huge compared to their contents.
Also iMacs last ten years minimum, that’s not a bad innings for a monitor these days.

Nothing new here...we already knew the 24" imac is coming from some rumours but also from the latest beta macOS that hint crash log from an unreleased imac
But lets hope it will be 100% Tuesday, so , later this year, the bigger one will be also coming along side bigger macbook pro

not really...maybe 10-15 years ago...all in one are more clean and no more cables..and an very high end all in one can last you around 3-4-5 years ...like an separate unit where you will change the gpu and cpu and maybe the ram also...so, almost everything but the display....a lot of people that arent hard cpu/gpu users...they change the unit, or they change the all in one..

The chances are the entire front will be the screen, minimal to no bezels and no chin. I cannot see the point in the colour options.
hope its NOT a full screen...because even today, with bezel and a chin...the ventilation bring micro dust particles into the screen...so, for a proper, all in one with an active cooling system...you need some room to seal at micro level the ventilation that brings air into the system from the display

Personally I don’t care whatever colors there are - if I am to upgrade from my 2019, it will be on my corner home desk against a wall.

Office work has dropped with more working from home so showing off the colours is not as relevant. Though I hope those mock-ups are off as those light colors don’t look that appealing.

The only color Apple will care about is green... the price tag will be high!

I think that people are more often than not seeing ghosts in these promotional images.

Perhaps MacRumors could come as a montly magazine in print. Once upon a time you would get your leaks and "what happened at an event" through a print magazine. These supposes leakers are just too much.

I'll take a breather.... ummmmm ummmmm. There. That helped. Or did it? Me : "Donald Duck freak out"

With all that said an out of the way.. I wouldn't mind seeing an Apple Silicon-based iMac be revealed at this April event.. People are like, yo it's 420. No it's the 20/4 aka the 20th of April'th - do it the right way. f00ls

I don’t know about this..
I’m a big iMac fan,my favourite Apple product..the silver and black color and current design is just perfect.timeless.
Looks futuristic and beautiful every time I look at it,despite having iMacs since 2011.they still look beautiful.

all they need to do is to eliminate bezels.
These colorful ones in the photo doesn’t have the same design language at all.
they look terrible to be honest.cheap and ugly.
I didn’t like the space grey iMac Pro neither.
I really hope they don’t mess it up.

I know they just released the Mac Mini, and I'm all excited about potentially new iMacs, but hopefully they offer more configuration options for the Mac Mini. 10G ethernet and more memory would be awesome.

Personally, I think this is a step back for Apple when they kept on stressing on being "environmentally friendly" when they are creating extra colors and options that would guarantee much more leftover stock when compared with currently existing Space Gray/Silver color options. Sure, add one sounds legit but having five options in total...... I find it difficult to picture.

But then hey, what do I know 🥴
Well The current iMacs let you pick between several different Intel processor options, ram options, ssd options and graphics cards.
as Apple probably won’t let you choose between different silicon, or the graphics cards, that’s two choices that are eliminated.
so add in colors.
it’s not a problem

I would agree. The only way they can pull this off without repeating their inventory mess of decades ago is to make all of the colors 'BTO', and have them ship direct from China/Vietnam/(some other hell hole country), which will add days, weeks, onto the purchase experience. Some won't bat an eye, others will balk. *shrug*

The other option is to make thousands of iMac shells in the different colors, and warehouse them and then assemble the ordered iMac into the chosen color and ship it out. But that would still be warehousing *something*. Apple needs to avoid the problem of warehousing different models in different colors in different warehouses across the planet.
what on earth are you saying?
The current iMac has processor, ram, SSD, and graphics card options.
I think Apple knows how to make options of products, especially colors.
they are not dumb

It’s an interesting conundrum. I love my work-supplied 27 inch iMac, but that’s because it has user-replaceable RAM, I could go in and swap out the SSD if I wanted, it has a stout GPU, and the monitor is fantastic. If they’re eliminating replaceable RAM, they’ve already done away with the slotted SSD, and the GPU is just built-in to the M1, the iMac seems much less tempting.

Come to Papa. Glad to see L0vetodream mentioning this.
Here are the specs and pricing that I expect for the base model 24” iMac:
$1299 starting price with at least 4K display. Maybe 4.5K
M1 chip
256GB SSD
8GB RAM (soldered on)
Two USB-4 ports.
One cooling fan.

Totally agree, re: all-in-one. Desktop-only computing seems so... Why?
Sure, a lot of my personal computing happens atop a “desk,” but that “desk” can be nearly any surface of nearly anywhere I find myself. But my preferences are not everyone’s. And vice versa. Thank goodness. Rock your all-in-ones!

While I’m personally not motivated by Apple’s color palette, it would be interesting if they also released new monitors-only in the same size, colors at a more consumer-friendlier price point. This is not at all happening. More a fun, lazy Saturday, mid-coffe, thought.

I wonder if any of the Pro Display XDR tech other than the bezels will make it to the iMac.

I don't think 1,000 nits of brightness, but that is fine, because when using a Pro Display XDR, you don't get 1,000 nits of brightness at all times.

I went from being a 5K iMac owner to a Mac mini hooked to a Pro Display XDR owner.

The only benefit of the iMac was a bit less clutter.

And when the 5K iMac had bluetooth and backlight bleed issues, I had to take into Apple several times.

Now that was a pain. Getting a Mac mini serviced will be much easier (assuming Apple can "service" an M1 Mac).
