Yeah, I want a pink magic keyboard and trackpad so badI wonder if this means that they'll refresh their magic accessories to match.

I wonder how challenging it would be to backlight the Magic Keyboard? In my opinion, that is all it is lacking.Yeah, I want a pink magic keyboard and trackpad so bad
I think that people are more often than not seeing ghosts in these promotional images.
what on earth are you saying?
The current iMac has processor, ram, SSD, and graphics card options.
I think Apple knows how to make options of products, especially colors.
they are not dumb
8gb of RAM as standard needs to go back in time and die in 2015. This is 2021, 16gb should be minimum. With that said, I totally would not be surprised if apple went ahead and stuck 8gb on there with absolutely no way to upgrade it.Come to Papa. Glad to see L0vetodream mentioning this.
Here are the specs and pricing that I expect for the base model 24” iMac:
$1299 starting price with at least 4K display. Maybe 4.5K
M1 chip
256GB SSD
8GB RAM (soldered on)
Two USB-4 ports.
One cooling fan.
Looking forward to Bondi Blue again!
Not looking forward to americans mispronouncing it.
Tiger striped gold and purple would be magical.
While I absolutely adore the screen on my 5K 27" iMac, the idea of lugging this machine to the Apple store for potential service one day makes me shudder. I think my next desktop will be a Mac Mini paired with the future monitor Apple unveils.I don’t understand the fascination with an all in one desktop. Apart from being super cool, wouldn’t it be better to have a best in class apple monitor and the computer unit separate. I can change/upgrade either one as required. If space clutter is a problem you could always create neat ways of hanging a Mac mini on the back of the monitor. There is so much waste at the end of life of an iMac. It’s a shame that Apple can shout from the top of solar roof tops but not care about the environment for real.

If that’s what floats your boat, I guess. It’s an interesting conundrum. I love my work-supplied 27 inch iMac, but that’s because it has user-replaceable RAM, I could go in and swap out the SSD if I wanted, it has a stout GPU, and the monitor is fantastic. If they’re eliminating replaceable RAM, they’ve already done away with the slotted SSD, and the GPU is just built-in to the M1, the iMac seems much less tempting.
I had this problem exactly with a 5K iMac that had backlight bleed issues, bluetooth issues and a speaker issue. Three times I had to haul the damn thing to an Apple Store and back. While I absolutely adore the screen on my 5K 27" iMac, the idea of lugging this machine to the Apple store for potential service one day makes me shudder. Pro XDR stand is “spring loaded”.. new imac with new stand. Starting at low $3999.
A colorful phone, sure. But why a computer? I want it black or dark grey.
Well, for the G3 iMacs it was basically that; the entire motherboard was on a tray that slid out of the unit. So they'd just have to pop in the correct board into the desired shell.RE: BTO, a Dell rep told me that at one point, they had 'shells' with everything but the mother board, warehoused, and they would get an order, and grab a shell, slap the board in it, and out it would go.

I cannot see the point in the colour options.
Exactly this .. I am thinking of getting a Mac mini as my next desktop Mac. However, I haven't taken this current iMac 27" in yet. I've had it for a good 6 years now. While I absolutely adore the screen on my 5K 27" iMac, the idea of lugging this machine to the Apple store for potential service one day makes me shudder. I Doubt about M1. iMac have to be more powerful or another M variant, M1 was designed for power efficency and control performance per watt. MiMac maybe introduce M1X or somthing like that.Come to Papa. Glad to see L0vetodream mentioning this.

Funny enough, I connect a MBP to an iMac and work off the iMac display as main monitor, with wireless keys and trackpad. Overkill? Certainly. But I had the combo, so... Plus, when I'm not leveraging the iMac's display, the kids use it.I went from being a 5K iMac owner to a Mac mini hooked to a Pro Display XDR owner.
The only benefit of the iMac was a bit less clutter.
And when the 5K iMac had bluetooth and backlight bleed issues, I had to take into Apple several times.
Now that was a pain. Getting a Mac mini serviced will be much easier (assuming Apple can "service" an M1 Mac).
nobody who is entering computing is going to buy an iMac.
The most popular computers sold today are all-in-ones. The iPad and the MacBooks are essentially portable iMacs that run on batteries! And it’s not just Apple, ALL PC vendors sell way more portable all-in-ones than any other line (though they still don’t sell as many as Apple does of iPadsnot really...maybe 10-15 years ago...all in one are more clean and no more cables..and an very high end all in one can last you around 3-4-5 years ...like an separate unit where you will change the gpu and cpu and maybe the ram also...so, almost everything but the display....a lot of people that arent hard cpu/gpu users...they change the unit, or they change the all in one..
