Anyone recall the text only game Zork? I remember seeing a computer & screen in a department store and sat down to explore Zork @ 3PM, after an hour the department store was closing, it was 9PM and dark outside. It was my first experience of the time suck that computers could offer! 😵‍💫👀
Oh yeah. I played several of the Infocom games. Starcross was my favorite.

Zork was awesome. Blade of black pool was my first foray into that time suck.

There's an app in the App Store called Frotz that has Zork, Zork II and about 50-ish text-based games on it from years ago. I love it and play it pretty frequently

Doesn't support my iPad Pro (10.5-inch) -- A10X Fusion? Minimum processor is the A12 Bionic?

I would rather not play it on a tiny iPhone SE 3rd gen screen...

It should work. The original game wasn't that high resolution, so I'm not sure what you'd be missing out on.
I know that it works, obviously. I'm just saying I'd much rather play an immersive game like this on a larger screen Mac with mouse and keyboard controls (like I used to play it when it originally came out). I don't care about high resolution.

Interesting. I'm an old fart who came up with games that were relatively low resolution. The boost in resolution of modern games makes me happy. So I was surprised to see the popularity of games like Minecraft with younger players. One of the innovations in Myst was that you couldn't die. I have been waiting, oh waiting, for a game like Myst with a Sci Fi genre. A puzzle game, not a blaster game.

This game was so big that it spawned a series of parody games. The first was called Pyst and the second was a parody of the sequel Riven, called Driven (as in driven insane, presumably, by difficult puzzles).

“It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue”

Great series of games. Infocom made some of the best text adventure games: The Zork series, Leatehr Goddess of Phobos, HHGTTG, and many more. I spent a lot of Zorkmids back in the day for those games for my ][+.

Couldn’t you just AirPlay it to an Apple TV and use one of the popular game controllers?

We seem to be missing Myst's audio on our 2021 ipad although all the audio settings are set to max and on other apps like facebook audio works. Any ideas what I need to set?

Ah, the last video game I ever played. Super Mario 1, 2, 3, Myst, then I saw everyone excited about Wolfenstein where you just ran around shooting everyone, and I was out.
Could be fun 25 years later to see if I can still remember how it goes.

Man, I haven't touched this game since the mid-90s when I was little. It always felt so strange and confusing at the time, but I was simply too young to fully grasp the concept.

Might be worth a revisit some day.

I’m playing the full version on my iPad Air (4th generation) and it is an absolute battery drain. The A14 heats up pretty quick as well and the game crashed once already. Don‘t really need anything newer for just this one game though, so I guess I’ll live with it, but it’s great nostalgia.

I do! And it was a trilogy.

Stupid question but is the volume on the iPad itself high enough? I've done stuff like that myself several times so it's always on my list of things to check. :)
