I hated the headphone jack. It was a giant hole at the bottom of the phone. Gross.

You might of hated it and that's fine, being it was not of use to you apparently. But for some, it was used everyday and I had a small amount invested in wired headphones, but to label it as a 'Giant hole and gross' seems a bit extreme. Ancient, yes, but useful to many who truly appreciated it.

I do welcome the future though of Bluetooth.

I know people are being intentionally obtuse on this matter, but it's still maddening.

Why do people keep asking this silly question? Nobody said it was impossible, simply easier without it.
Essential wasn't Apple's word, or Buzzfeed's, it was MacRumors' and it's not accurate. Buzzfeed's quote is that it eliminated a key point of ingress.

Well proven on Youtube... Is that what the world has come to?
[doublepost=1473298736][/doublepost]It just did.
Silly kid, theres a whole other audio world out there besides your toy iPhone

Precisely!

Apple's pushing this excuse hard, but a company as skilled as Apple could do what Samsung did easily. This is Apple not wanting to take complete responsibility since until they announced it there was no way to estimate the amount of pushback they'd get.

It'll be interesting to see how this plays out. Just another reason to wait till next year before buying. By then there'll be better choices than the ugly Apple wireless ear buds. They look like someone chopped off the wires... Incredibly Ugly.

My problem with the AirPods is the douchiness of double tapping on it for Siri as if someone was watching too much sci-fi shows lately. Second, the design is garbage because it's not going to fit in everyone's ears. I have the EarPods with me and they don't fit in my ears at all, at the risk of falling off. There is no secure method to stabilize them. Not everyone's ears are the same and Apple's insistence on that design was short-sighted. I should know because I dealt with audiologists my entire life creating ear molds for my hearing aid. Apple is full of crap. They should've gone with some kind of rubber tip at the ends or create an ear hook to stabilize the device kind of like Jabra.

I can see what they tried to do with the minimalist design but I don't think it's ideal for people in active sports or such. Plus, I'm not surprised at the high price tag of it.

I KNEW Apple would include the Lighting to 3.5 adapter. I called it.

What's wrong with something like this - https://www.amazon.com/Earhoox-EarP...id=1473301961&sr=1-2&keywords=EarPod+silicone

How does one charge the AirPod case? Lightning or USB? I haven't seen anyone mention this.

Gotta forgive these Apple fan boys, they live in a box or under a rock.

You mad?

Nope. Not mad. I have no skin in the game. I don't work for Apple or own stock. But I find it HILARIOUS that people get so worked up and opinionated over the removal of the 3.5mm jack.

I bet if all these whiners ever hear what a great bluetooth headset like B&O H5 sounds like, they'll wish Apple had done this a long time ago.

So by Apple's reasoning we should replace the electrical outlet plugs in our homes? They're just sitting there taking up space? Or the cigarette adapter in the cars?

Their real attitude it shown by not providing a Y-connector that allows power and audio at the same time. That shows that they just don't get the limitations of their device.

it was ironic they showed pokemon go on the watch. That (and ingress) will kill an iphone battery in roughly an hour. It's a *perfect* use case for power and audio at the same time.

So is watching a movie on a plane, making a day's worth of conference calls, or simply being in a fringe signal area and not using it at all (which killed my battery today) and so forth.

EarPods don't have the battery life, and I'm damn sure they don't have the volume or sound quality of wired buds either (and I'm not referring to the $0.99 ones apple includes currently).

Ive's been smoking anodized aluminum shavings if he thinks battery tech is ready for a wireless world.

I don't really care that much about the headphone jack in my iPhone, but I DO care about being lied to and fed BS. They better not get any crazy ideas about removing it from the macbook.

The wheel is thousands years old. It had its last big innovation about 140 years ago. You know what that was? They invented tires. It hasn't been touched since then. It's a dinosaur.
It's time to move on.

It is time to move on. To flying cars!!!! Apple Car Sept 2021. "see you in the air"
Hello way down there tesla! Nice dinosaur tires you got there.
Hahahaha! Boom!

That would've been a good solution had Apple gone with that. I never knew about this product though. Quite interesting. Although I can't use it when I have the hearing aid so I'm relying on the old school Sennheiser px-200 open ear buds OR the HATIS telecoil hook which works pretty well for 3.5.

I had a set and enjoyed them...unfortunately my wife lost one in her bottomless purse a while back.

Thanks, my comment is geared to classified area. I know it's a small piece of the pie; neither less, it's a piece. MP3 players is also a threat to national security. CD players is a winner winner chicken dinner.

Nothing on Phil's demo mentioned about waterproofing is the reason. Samsung Galaxy phones has a headphone jack and still waterproofed. When it comes to audio analog still superior that's the reason why spoken words straight from the mouth is clearer. Audiophiles uses DAC (digital to analog converter), meaning you digitize an analog sound (recording), then bring it back to analog for an output so they're more natural. The forward thinking that Apple is talking about is making more money. Their proprietary chip for wireless technology is obviously superior over just a bluetooth itself. That means they want to sell more Beats, an ugly looking AirPods and MFI licensing for other headphone manufacturers. It's all about money, money, money!
