Probably explains the sudden price drop of the PowerBeats Pro's down to $199, at least on Amazon. While they say it's a sale, my guess is, that will become their normal price, once the new Airpods arrive, at $249...
They're $199 at the Apple Store and Best Buy.

For that price they had better sound good. Sound that's even 15% better than the things included with iPhones is not worth the money. I also believe a cord or something should come with it so you can tether them together. At that price it would really suck to lose one.

What would you do, if you lose wired headphones for the same price?

i think some of the recent pods released are finally better than the airpods but the airpods have been the standard for 2+ years. i don't think apple will disappoint here but we'll see.

I'd be more inclined to spend that much money on something that you don't have to throw away when the batteries die off. It seems the new Sony model does have (sort of) replaceable batteries at least.

Despite buying everything Apple makes for the last 20 years, these just have no interest to me. I love the standard AirPods and don't use them for their sound quality but their convenience and magical interface (double tap, hey Siri and how fast they pair when I just need to make a call) For musicologists listening, I still use dedicated sound isolating earphones from Shure that are 15 years old and you'll have to pry them away from my dead hands. AirPods are great for calls and convenient when I ned to hear my surroundings like on a busy train but for long flights, reading, chilling I won't be buying AirPods Pro.

With AirPods, just like with iPhone X, Apple outdid themselves. That's the reason, after 2+ years after they come out, people still wonder- "meh, do I really need an update? These still works good even now". (with exceptions, of course).

I loved the old in-ears, so I’m looking forward to purchasing these.
For me, Id love to be able to swim with them. Wishful thinking.

I'm not sure I get exactly what you're trying to get at with this question. Things happen, headphones can get lost. But AirPods are a lot easier to lose, so having an optional tether would be nice.

The "pros" can keep it. Don't like putting things in my ear canal like that. I'd get the regular ones, but the fact that you can't adjust the volume manually by the AirPods themselves instead of by the device or Siri kills it for me.

How long have you owned them out of interest? Also suffering with mine. Get about 1 hour 15 mins out of mine now (since Dec '16)

Almost two years, got them in Dezember 2017. Hmm, maybe after two years, the battery-capacity starts to decline?

The AirPods are one of my favourite-ever Apple products and they get used every day. The only downside for me was poor fitment and sound isolation. Silicon covers helped, but for running they were never great.

So along came Powerbeats Pro which are amazing for running and address all my problems with AirPods.

And now here some AirPods which would have addressed all my problems with the originals...

Well played Apple, well played 👏

In the same boat as you. I also got the PowerBeats Pro which I am 90% satisfied with, almost 100%. The only thing holding them back a bit is the gigantic charging case. I'm sure Apple will retain a small pillbox shaped case for the new AirPods so I'm a little at a loss on what to do...

But to be fair, we don't know how these will fit us. They might be a poor fit just like the original AirPods, even with the assistance of the in-ear tips.

These will be an enormous hit for Apple. Especially if offered in colors beyond white.

For those carping about the price already, I’m sure the standard AirPods will remain available for you and the peasant class.

Ah yes, the predetermined hate has begun for a product not even released or tested.

The haters will once again eat their words as they did with AirPods. Remember when people laughed at those?

They laughed at the iPod, they laughed at the iPhone, they laughed at the iPad (remember the feminine napkin jokes), they laughed at the HomePod, they now laugh at the new Mac Pro. Nothing has changed in forty years. Nothing to see see here. Move along.

Presumably they're holding off on a space grey version until a year when they can't think of any other decent features to put in.
Legend says Tim Cook is still trying to figure out which space gray to pick

I see that same sentiment about the rumored Apple glasses and it’s like Deja vu.

These belong as a higher tier product.

I have no interest in a different design or noise cancellation. What I like about AirPods is that they're not a giant boom fest, and I still hear my surroundings.
