Although most women I know carry "purses" that could conceal a 27" iMac, there is no room in there for a 7" anything, because they carry so much crap in these leather duffel bags that whenever they are searching for something it sounds like a kid digging for parts in a giant box of Legos.

Made my day, thank-you. All the whining was making me depressed.

Give it up Digitimes. Jesus Christ.

These rumors are just getting to be ridiculous. Apple is not going to gut the value of iPad 3 early and I'm just tired of the wild speculations. Next we will be hearing about the Apple iCar that get a gazillion mpg and can fly. Give it a rest.

The 7" iPad rumor is believable also. It's going to replace the iPod Touch and it's a perfect device for a school time release in August like the touch always was..

The one that isn't believable is the 10" iPad. Apple has stuck to a yearly release.

I can't see it replacing the touch (and if it did, then it ought to replace the iPhone too), as the 7" iPad may not be as portable...or maybe it will, I'm not really sure how portable it will seem.

the 7" iPad rumor...it just won't die, nor will it happen.

iPhone 5 makes sense in September

The 10" iPad in December rumor is idiotic.

Never say it is not going to happen. You do not have the control freak known as Steve Jobs at the company any more. That say is completely gone. The guy at the helm now is more of a business type guy. There is a market for it.

The 7" has its pluses. It is a little smaller can fit in a pocket of a coat fairly easily or in the out side pocket of a back pack. Something the 10" iPad can not do. Plus I find the size much better for saying reading a book.

Now would I get one. No I would not. I would rather have a 10" iPad and I sure as hell would not buy both a 10" and an 7" as that would be over kill and way to much redundant for very limited gain.

Yeah I'm with most of the people on this one.

iPhone 5 is obvious for Sept.

I can't see a need for a smaller iPad. The cut-price iPad 2 basically kills any threat from the Kindle fire.

Apple don't need to release another form factor to dilute the iPad family. It's doing fine and people don't seem to be complaining about how big it is. Use your iPhone if you need something more portable!

As for iPad 4 this year - what?! Honestly, who pays these analysts and makes these reports.

We're going to see a new incarnation of iOS or an update at WWDC next month. That usually launches a month or two before the new iPhone and then we'll see "The New iPhone" in Sept/Oct with an iOS providing one or two new hardware specific features (like iOS5 with Siri for iPhone 4s).

I just bought a new iPad so if a newer one was released this year I'd be pretty upset... at this site's buying advice page. j/k.

Every time they cite digitimes stories, this site loses credibility with me. I realize news has been slow lately, but come on.
I agree with this 100% !!!
Digitimes has proven time after time that all they want is to see their name in print, no matter how factual the spew they spit is.
MacRumors shoule just stop reporting their BS.

The pockets on Southpole jeans seem pretty big, but the pockets are always so low. They always seem to be somewhere between the mid-thigh to the calves. I don't get it.

Finally what the Android fans want a 7 inch phone that competes
with the 4.8 inch S3.

Buy the bigger pocket jeans and it's all good:)

Wow. That was a lot of whining and content free posts. :(

Let me try to parse this against observations. In doing so I will take as true Apple will do a major update to iPhone to LTE, issue an iPad update, and release a new smaller iPad.

Firstly let's all take note of the FACT Apple quietly updated iPad2 with a die shrunk processor of about the same performance spec that uses battery 20% more efficiently and has considerably less heat.

That fact alone blazes the trail for a practical mid-sized iPad with its more compact form factor, less volume, so heating and battery are a major factor. It may even be the first product to use the lower power consumption displays. We'll see. I would expect it to be released as wifi only, but if it does have LTE it will use parts common to what I will call iPhone 5 (tick-tock).

iPhone 5 LTE. Of course. This is the worst kept secret ever and is made possible by the die shrink given the volume limits of LTE devices. I hope they actually make the battery bigger. Maybe even offer an Apple branded battery extender that is "cool". I would also like to see an Apple branded signal booster ala Wilson.

iPad 3. Of course it's next in line to get the die shrink. I would be surprised to see anything major on the hardware front, perhaps NFC across the line, and of course iOS6 with some fancy doodad that causes marginal buyers to pull the trigger. They love to add obvious features one at a time to stretch out the product lifecyle. It would have been trivial to release iPhone 1 with 3G for example. But from a consumer perspective it was "already great".

I expect to see the iPad Midi to be the K-6 ed push device with new lower cost MacBook Airs as the central station.

I expect to also see all these devices have the newer wifi standard as well as TB in the 30 pin connector.

Check me later.

The only way I see these rumors ending is if Apple actually ships it. In which case, they'll be replaced by "Updated 7 inch iPads this Tuesday!" rumors.

Actually, Apple is introducing three new iPads:

7" - the iPad Air
10' - the NewNewiPad
15" - the iPad Pro

One more thing - A holographic Steve Jobs ill introduce them at a special event in the fall...

I'm tired of this stuff. Seriously, it's the same old news we've heard many times before

I whole heartedly agree. Terrible 'rumour' is terrible.

If there is going to be a new iPad in the fall, tell me, what would Apple gain from it? It takes a lot of effort to launch a product, and the current version has a lot of legs left in it. The next gen will arrive 2013 spring.

A 7inch version is plausible, but again, anyone with half a brain would question "why". Why would Apple release a 7inch tablet this summer? What do they gain?

The iPhone 5 in September... duh.

These reports are useless.

Digitimes...

love their [SARCASM]professional mock-up[/SARCASM] of a Nokia Tablet that would come and three weeks later wouldn't come.
Now every bloody techsite has made that stupid mock-up go viral:

Couldn't there conceivably be a current iPad upgrade with no real new features but maybe just a new LTE radio chip (same as what would be used in iPhone 5) to give LTE compatability to more international users? Especially since Apple has been prohibited from calling it 4G capable in certain countries. They could get that out in time for the holidays. Then still do the real New New iPad upgrade next spring.

As Ken Ray (mac os Ken) said on his podcast,
" You can't spell Digitimes without spelling Git".

I glad he's not from Scunthorpe...

Digitimes has had a hit-or-miss track record when it comes to Apple rumors, but with the site having offered some accurate information in the past, its claims continue to be closely watched.

Good grief. A broken clock is more accurate than Digitimes.

They love to add obvious features one at a time to stretch out the product lifecyle. It would have been trivial to release iPhone 1 with 3G for example. But from a consumer perspective it was "already great".

Do you not reckon it was because of the battery life? iPhone 1 was quite power hungry for its day with all the unique features and screen which were not seen on a mobile phone before. I reckon they had a 3G prototype alright but the battery tech at the time meant it wouldn't last more than a few hours.

I could be wrong, but even the iPhone 3G had an option to toggle 3G off to save the battery. The iPhone 3Gs and 4 were the first proper 3g iPhones in my eyes.

I totally agree with you on LTE for the next iPhone. Battery is the main problem though. Perhaps they'll just leave a toggle to have it on/off in settings like on the iPhone 3G. That or some new battery tech that will be insanely great.

10 inch screen? Isn't the current iPad 9.7 inches?

So increasing the size by .3in makes SO much sense. /sarc

Is it just me, or is Apple getting slower at releasing new products? I know they tend to focus on minimalism vs. a mass of products. But it seems like they're taking their time with new Mac updates, and even last year with the 4S update.
