Maybe Apple is responding to the Quad HD screens in the soon to be released LG G3, and the upgraded Galaxy S5 and HTC one M8.

maybe they dont care anymore and they start to release products and thats it
the way others do

The 4.7 will do me but I'll be mightily annoyed if the 5.5 has additional features above the larger screen size.

Same. I really would prefer the 4.7" version and I would hope that Apple will do the same thing with iPad Air and iPad mini and release both models with the same exact specs (hopefully with same color gamut as well, but not a deal breaker for me).

These dates would be cool for me, my contract upgrade isnt until March next year, so plenty of time to get all the faults and issues out of the way before i upgrade to mine :D

Early Adopters and apple fanbois go forth and beta test for me ;)

Am I the only one that wants a 4" iPhone 6? I don't want something I can't use with one hand or put in my pocket.

And it bothers you because? If you don't want it, don't buy it. More choice is good....

More choice is defiantly good :D however I was hoping they would announce the 4.7" and 5.5" at the same event, so as we could see them and then make a choice, that would then enable those who wanted to the 4.7" to buy first and those that wanted the 5.5" could then buy when it's released later (if indeed they are released at different dates).

Same here. HTC One has the logo doesn't it? Oh no, I really hope they don't put it on the device anywhere.

I would be willing to bet a large amount of money that they won't put the beats logo on the iPhone 6.

It will be interesting to see what they do with the company though. Will it be to take advantage of their product offering or something more music related? iTunes is on the way out and Apple need to react fast, iTunes Radio won't cut it either.

There is no real Spotify competitor. Shuffle play is no good.

Agreed, it'd be good if they were announced together. Looking at how the iPad Mini / Air lines are handled, I doubt there'll be little difference spec wise.

I do wonder if the 5.5" model will be released later due to needing some changes to iOS?

iPhones will have "Intel Inside" before any Beats logo. Apple has never that I know of put silly logos on its devices. Just the Apple one. Apple is buying Beats for technology and expertise, not logos.

My thoughts exactly, altho I don't know what to believe with this report of an August reveal and release, doesn't it seem a bit too close to WWDC

THE IPHONE ISNT READY FOR AUGUST...PLZ THINK AGAIN THE DIMENSIONS...IT IS TOO LARGE FOR NOW. Moto X has 4.7" and 129mm tall...i understand Apple is not give up to home button but still a tall dimension of 134mm can be done

Larger phones mean extra room for new features! IPhone 6 will clean house in the smartphone and phablet marketplaces...

Quite possible. It would crush current competition from 2014 flagship android handsets.

And the larger handset will sweep the phablet market totally when it is pitched against note 4 later during the year.

At the end of the day it's a larger iPhone with a similar OS and the same basic design features. Many people just don't like iOS so Android is going nowhere fast. There is a clear difference between the Note and Galaxy phones in which Samsung throws in the kitchen sink if your willing to accept the size penalty; you basically have mainstream vs. Superstar. Not sure if people here can accept two large Apple phones with the same specs or phones positioned the way Samsung does it. So far it has worked out great the way Samsung does it. I think loyal Apple fans will be offended by the difference.

If the Beats buyout is true, I wonder if it's to get the streaming service....

Indeed, you'd think there'd have to be some mention of the increased screen size at WWDC, just as a heads up. Of, maybe Apple will focus on auto-layout at WWDC as a hint, and then announce in August with a late September release for the 4.7, with the 5.? following later.

Total nonsense. Apple is not having an iPhone event in August.

That's a dead month (at least in the U.S., where Apple is based and conducts its launches). Everyone in the U.S. is either in the last throws of their summer vacation or frantically getting (the kids) ready for back-to-school. Attention spans for everything else are at a minimum.

No sane company, with a huge dependency on the U.S. market, launches a new product in August. They wait until after Labor Day, which is Sep 1 this year. And no company with any media savvy has a major event one or two days after Labor Day because of travel constraints. So that puts the earliest practical day for an iPhone announcement event at Sep 9 or 10. Going on recent history, that would put an iPhone launch at Sep 19, again at the earliest, and far far away from August.

Maybe there will be a mention at WWDC, thinking about it wouldn't Apple need to announce early in order for developers to get their apps ready for the big screens? i guess we will have to wait and find out :)

I think I must be the only one here that could care less about a larger phone. The iPhone 5 is already too big for me to comfortably use with one hand. I doubt I'll be getting any more iPhones if this is the new path..

I'm more interested in OS X 10.10 at this point.

But they will probably buy it anyway. Fanboys couldnt stand another product that *might* somehow be construed as better, so the smaller version seems "less superior" (even if its exactly the same but smaller).

I hope the smaller version phone is $100 more that the 5.5" phone, just to give the smaller phone an "elite" feel. Then they will be happy.

This could be a strategy around when a lot of people come off contract. Release the smaller phone early to create buzz sooner. But then drop the larger ones right when a big chunk of iP5 owners come off contract. Those owners will spend a month salivating but will convince themselves that they are waiting because the bigger phone is still coming. Then the floodgates open and they rush to buy Apple's higher margin device. Not sure this is their exact thought process, but I am convinced Apple uses psychology in deciding how to release things.....it's not just about when the supply chain can have something ready to sell.

I also think Apple is going to have to tip their hat about the new phones at WWDC whether or not they actually show the hardware. It seems pretty clear that they will be offering new screen resolutions and they will need to let developers have time to adapt their apps. No way Apple will want to release new hardware without notice and have every new phone running letter boxed apps for a few months while the developers catch up.

I hope it comes out soon, definitely better in August then September.

I hope Apple will still have a new smaller iPhone available. I like my phones small, so I can keep them in my pocket or completely wrap them in hand.

Am I the only one who thinks that the rumors about the new Design are wrong?
I don't think that Apple is using an iPad/iPod similar Design for their flagship product. iPhone had always a different Design than the other products. It would be just boring. Noooo way it's going to look like an iPod touch.

And there are no part leaks yet except the front which we saw a few weeks ago. Everything else are just rumors with no evidence.

I'm very excited about what Jonny designed for us this time.
