Way too much bezel...If this is the iPhone 6, i'm disappointed...very...

Wow August. I don't think apples will do it. I don't think there is a 5.5 inch this year. And I can't get a new phone until December anyway.

I love using Maps while driving with one hand. I'm not sure if I'll get either of these giants...

i really doubt that we'll see anything other than a 4.7 phone this year or next. there are so many leaks for 4.7, and zero for 5.5..

iPhone - June
iPhone 3G - July
iPhone 3GS - June
iPhone 4 - June
iPhone 4S - October
iPhone 5 - September
iPhone 5S - September

Apple doesn't have a "typical" release cycle for the iPhone, so at this point why not August.

and remember that the 4S was a delayed launch because of the Tsunami in Japan. My theory is that thay never wanted to launch in October but were forced by mother nature. Then they couldnt immediately release another phone 8 months later to get back on the June cycle so they did it in September.... slowely and surely they will move a month at a time back to a June/July release. If they do release this August my theory could be confirmed.

And it bothers you because? If you don't want it, don't buy it. More choice is good....

Fragmentation is not good. adding 2 additional screensizes wil kickstart developers into this vector strectchy based mode where apps work poorly across all iPhone instead of smoothly across 1 or 2. Please stop pretending like there are no downsides to this. There definitely are.

More choice in hardware means less choice in software. That or less efficient properly working software.

Hmmm I doubt it honestly .

But they released the 5s in September too... If anything that should've been August...

The iPhone 5 came out in September. I'm on a 2-year contract so if iPhone 6 does come out in August, AT&T better let us upgrade without penalty!
You should be all set to upgrade to a new toy in September then.

It's not like you'll be able to get one in the first few weeks anyway. So you'd already be in September.

This would indicate that the 5/5S body style will go away completely come fall. Apple loves its premium stuffs, and the 5C is their "lower cost" platform.

I wonder if one of these will be "premium" and one set for lower costs... Analogus to the 5S/5C releases last year. I think they might put up some good deals on the 5S shortly to clear those out of inventory.

Apple are suppose to be holding an in store event and contacting people to upgrade to the 5S and 5S

If the rumours are true, it'll be an additional two screen sizes of known resolution / size, that can then be catered for. That's hardly fragmentation ( and how long do you think iOS will support 3.5" devices? ). Just because it might cause a bit of work for developers ( and those that are on the ball will already be thinking how to utilise the additional space ), it doesn't mean we should all stick with one screen size.

Ultimately, Apple will follow the money. They might take their time about it, but they'll probably use that time to come up with an elegant solution for handling different sizes / resolutions.

Could easily be true.

  • intro at WWDC for devs, because of new screen resolution
  • iPads in late September/early October
  • leaves a time slot for watch/wearable + ATV announcement before christmas

Testing for iOS8 would be tight, but doable imo - depending on the amount of new features/apis.

I really hope this rumor is true. I dont want to wait until next year for the 5.5 model!

I dont think the ATT upgrade cycle revolves around the iPhone release cycle :p
And usually (before these early upgrade plans were released) they let you upgrade about a month or 2 before the actual contract was up.

Some variation on this same claim comes out every year, and every year it's proven to be nothing but wishful speculation.

Look, I want the next iPhone now, as my 4s has multiple problems that are only worsening with time, but with zero actual part/hardware leaks (so far), a summer release is a no-go. Chupa Chupa said August is a dead month, and he's right.

Apple, while ever aware of trends and customer demands/desires (as seen in the trial emails), is in a position where it really doesn't have to conform to anyone's wishes, hopes, dreams, unicorn farts, or rainbow kisses; a "DGAF" mode, if you will. Could they throw everyone a curveball? Sure. Will they? Unlikely.

When I read these kinds of stories, this is the first thing that pops in my head. Not that Tim Cook would ever wear a camo jacket, but, yeah.
