What?

Show me a man who needs 1Tb on their phone and I'll show you a man who hasn't worked out how to use cloud storage.
If ProRes video capture is part of the new feature set and you use your iPhone to capture video, 1TB is what you will want. It has nothing to do with data hoarding. I expect the 1TB tier will not be a high seller, 256 yes, 1TB no.

Probably preparing for iOS 15 and having all photos out of iCloud to prevent further privacy intrusions.

Kidding aside not everyone needs or wants cloud storage solutions so why should Apple not try and milk that group as well?

Since I’m no longer storing all my photos and videos on my phone, I’m gonna save a ton of money getting the base model if I decide to upgrade. That’s a great feeling.

I was being deliberately petty of course... far be it from me to dictate what users might want or what Apple might want to profit from.

1Tb is a lot though, in a phone. Large-scale video needs would seem to be the only likely use case. I do suspect that many people buy significantly more storage than they need though. I have hundreds of apps, 1000s of photos, 100s of videos and dozens of downloaded albums at any point and rarely fill half of my 64Gb phone. The only thing that's physically stored is the music and the latest photos/videos and recently-used apps I guess.

Who needs 1TB of storage on a phone?

Who needs 1tb on the phone. Storage use to be important but I find now I hardly use the storage on my phone.

For Apple users, you're not demonstrating much imagination. Just because you don't use all that drive space doesn't mean there aren't plenty of people who shoot and edit high-definition video, have lossless music collections, or travel to places without reliable WiFi or cellular service. I'm down to 19GB on my 512GB Pro Max and will welcome a 1TB option. If 128GB and the cloud work for you, enjoy; this will be a tremendous convenience for those of us who plan to use it.

No it won't. Your phone will work the same with or without 120Hz. Nothing will actually change

Its all in your head, after one week you will forget about and will look forward to this 'magical' iPhone 14 upgrade that will "again" change your life :)
someone here doesn’t understand how 120hz works, has never used it and doesn’t realize some people actually have a use for it!

I have 1.3TB of data in the cloud (video, photos, and lossless music backups) and can't wait to get my hands on the 1TB iPhone. When you spend a week in the mountains and feel like watching a movie, listening to your music, or editing high-res video, the only cloud you'll have guaranteed access to is the one that rains on you.

So happy if the do 1Tb like several people have mentioned more freedom to download more movies and music to the phone for some that travel a lot..can’t wait for next month..

I would argue in a phone, surely the camera is more desirable than the processor?

I have an iPhone 11 and have not once ever thought, 'oh this is slowing down, it could do with a faster processor'.

I have however wanted a better camera as I use my phone for generic phone stuff (messaging, calls, emails etc) and taking pictures.

How much processor intensive stuff are you doing on your phone?
Because some people actually use a standalone camera to take photos. I know, novel idea. Processor speed and ram have a lot to do with how a phone will continue to function with future updates. If you only get a new phone every three or 4 cycles, processor speed and ram could be pretty important.

September needs to hurry up, all I care about is the 120hz it will be a game changer for the phone
On a screen the size of a phone? Seriously?

I know most people like a better camera...I just NEVER take pictures or record videos.

In regard to the processor, I just feel safer getting the fastest one so that I can insure myself mentally that my phones performance won't be dragging/lacking as the years go on.

Also...another important factor is whatever one has the largest/longest lasting battery (probably the Pro Max)

All said I'll likely get the Pro Max unless the Pro is identical in all but the camera.
I think at this stage of development of iPhone processor you have to worry more about battery degradation slowing you down than you the processor itself.

People who shoot a lot of video.
I get it, but there are a lot of better cameras out there designed to shoot video. Do people really shoot that much video on an iPhone now?

Agreed, this would be the one use case where the extra storage would be worth it.

Without a usb-c port, I don't see the point in all that storage.
It’s not like you need USB-C to pull stuff off the phone.

Count me in that group. I use an iPad Pro. It’s nice there but I just don’t see the advantages on a phone and the impact it will have on battery life.

Sounds like you need to appreciate those clouds a little more whenever you‘re out there. Editing high-res video on a phone on a camping trip? Common man, there’s far better things to be doing. 😉

My partner is the nature lover, but I enjoy the hikes and all the photo/video opportunities they afford. After the second or third night away from civilization, though, having a tech diversion can be a relationship saver.

Hahahhahahahaha

Just because you may not see a usefulness to 120Hz, a lot of others do. That being said, as someone who uses two devices on a daily… the 120Hz will be a welcome addition to my iPhone. It’s not all in his head… there is a tangible difference. Now, whether one cares about that difference is another story. You obviously don’t/won’t care, so why denigrate someone posting about a feature they’re looking forward to?

A game changer in the sense that most people won’t be able to see any difference?

If variable refresh is a game changer, it’s the 1hz side of the equation that is the game changer - always on display!

I'm wondering if iPhone 12 will be discounted or discontinued... My iPhone X is starting to slow down so I might want to upgrade soon, and seeing as the 13 will be really expensive I might upgrade to the 12 if it's available and less expensive.

Signs of the times I guess, now with that lossless and hi def got released it was a matter of time before storages got bumped up, my entire music catalog on my ipad is close to 260gb, my iphone 12 pro is 256gb before the update, at the time of purchase i didn’t think i needed the 512gb but i was sooo wrong.

is Apple ever getting rid of those huge outdated bezels??? I know they are always late on things but come'on, several years have gone by
